    December Sleevers

I was sleeved 12/16. 1 month surgeon follow-up is tomorrow. Looks like I'm between 20-22 lbs down since surgery, about 45 overall. It's slowed down a ton since the first 2 weeks after surgery and I've had a couple stalls, but I honestly don't stress about it so far. I trust the process. I know the weight will never come off fast enough for me, but everyday my body is growing smaller and I'll never be this big again. I've never been able to believe that was possible before. I'm totally happy with my little sleeve!
  2. Hello! I had a sleeve and hernia repair on 12/16. I've only had extremely minor reflux issues in the past and had no issues for about a year before surgery. I did have pretty strong gas/acid pain in my chest and back for a couple weeks after surgery, but it's about gone now. I don't know if it'll get worse in the future or not. I hope not!

    Any December Sleever's?

That's great! Good job to both of you. I've been great since surgery. No pain or nausea, just light gas and reflux from a hiatal hernia repair. Fluids go down pretty good, but still falling a little short on proteins. But I'm almost right at the minimums, so not too bad. Hubby has had terrible nausea since surgery. We're on day 3 in the hospital now. They went ahead and admitted him to get the nausea under control and fill him with fluids. He's doing well now though. Hopefully going home soon. Docs say unfortunately this just happens with a small percentage of people and it'll take down time. I'm down 38 lbs from my high weight before PreOp diet and hubby is down over 60 lbs. He's a big guy though at 6'7". Those darn guys lose like crazy! Lol. Best wishes to you both! People thought we were crazy to do it together, but I think it's the best way!
  4. Good luck today's sleevers! Excited for you all!
  5. I use Unjury as well. The chocolate in skim milk is the easiest for me. I use the unflavored in jello and soup and it's not terrible. The problem for me is more that I can smell it, not necessarily the taste. I also just found premade isopure clear high protein drinks at the Vitamin Shoppe. Unfortunately the teas are high in caffeine, so that's a no no, but there are other flavors you can try.

    Any December Sleever's?

I just saw that you and your hubby did the surgery together like my husband and I did. We were the 16th. How are you both doing?
  7. Sounds about the same as me, but I don't know if that means we're both normal or not. ????
  8. Hi ScubaMary! I'm a 12/16er too! Hm, I don't think I'm having hunger pains, but I'm craving "real" food quite badly. My stomach isn't even handling as much food as you described, but the craving is very real. Someone else can probably answer better, but I have heard others talk about being hungry.
  9. I'm curious, how long does it take you to consume that much? Are you sipping it over a certain period of time? I can do 8 ounces of milk and protein mix over 20-30 minutes, but I can only do 3-4 ounces of cream soup or yogurt in that time.
  10. Hi everyone. My DH and I are now 4 days post-op. We had surgery together so we could support one another, but unfortunately our experiences have been so different. I've had very little pain and absolutely no nausea. I feel like I could fairly easily go back to work tomorrow. My poor husband though has been so so sick. It started as soon as he woke up in the hospital and hasn't stopped. He's been dry-heaving for days. I have talked to our nurse and surgeon and been told this is more common in large men like my husband (he's 6'7") and that it just takes time. At this point they've given him phenergen, zofran, raglan and increased his zegerid, but he's still so miserable. He hasn't been able to start getting protein in yet, but he is getting regular fluids down very well. I don't expect anyone to be able to solve this, but I'd be interested if anyone else has dealt with this and if so if there was anything that helped? Thanks for letting me unload a little. It's been so stressful seeing him so sick. ????
  11. Thanks NatureGirl. That's all I can do. And yep, I gotta shovel the Popsicles in him... Lol. We're now heading into day 9 post-op and he's still sick as a dog. Poor guy. It's got me at my wits end, but I'm trying to be patient.

    Getting there !

Congrats to you! It's awesome that you're doing so well! And you have a beautiful family.
  13. Thanks so much for your encouragement HopeandAgony. It stinks that some people have no issues after surgery while others are miserable afterwards. I guess you just never know until you get there. Finally tonight hubby seems to be getting some relief. I'm not sure if it's just his body adjusting or the combination of meds, but we'll take it. Praying the reprieve continues!

    Question for the Ladies.

Yep! I just had surgery on the 16th and wouldn't you know, my monthly visitor showed up the day before. It was no problem. I wore a tampon to the hospital and they had me change it to a pad right before they wheeled me to surgery. Surgery actually made my period pretty much stop. I heard that's common for trauma. I kept a pad between my legs and they put an absorbent pad under me, but it really wasn't bad at all. I was just sure to tell each of the nurses so they wouldn't have any surprises.
  15. "FL_Buckeye" we have similar stats & I'm a Buckeye too. Good Luck!! Thanks Sleevegal!! Go Bucks!
  16. On the way to the hospital now. Hubby and I are both being sleeved today! Wish us luck and we'll take your prayers too! Best wishes to you other sleevers. We can do it!
