Anybody know of a fill doctor in Edmonton?

Hi All, Does anyone know of a Doctor in Edmonton who does fills and adjustments for lap band patients who had the procedure performed in Mexico. Have not had contact with Dr Daniel Birch yet. Dr Doug Davey only does his own patients. I will also try Dr Mitchell in Calgary. Thanks, Dana:rolleyes:

Hi Cindy, Sorry I was a bit slack getting back to you! I have just been down to Calgary to see Dr Mitchell. I have been getting my fills from him. He seems to be happy with the fact that I had mine done in Mexico. He now charges $150, and I think he is planning to expand his time. He used to only do fills on a Tuesday or Thursday from 4 to 5pm. But he has been so busy that the time frame is now greater. I will go down in May for a 1:30pm appointment! That means we get home in daylight. Any other queries, I should be online till we head for home for 3 weeks. I can tell you the warmth in New Zealand is calling loudly! Dana

Hi Everyone, I sort of closed down and thought I could lose weight on my own. I can't . I just have not been able to sort out my eating habits correctly. How is everyone else adjusting? I am not getting in enough solid Proteins at Breakfast and lunch, normal at dinner and then snack on nuts/raisins throughout the day. So I am usually starving or comfortable with the trail mix. What are most people's meals? And are they comfortable with that? As an example I was having cottage cheese and Jello, or tuna sald, but they did not keep me full feeling. Even a left over piece of meat does not keep me going longer then an hour or two. I have had two fills, third scheduled for the 14th of August. I know I don't have enough restriction yet, although there is enough to PB if not careful:blush:. But I am not losing as I had hoped, despite 4-5 days per week of exercise (Curves, biking & golf). Has anyone tried the mentoring support group? Dana

Cool Crystal, what is pho?

I have not tried to eat bread yet! I think I was so used to having a sandwich before my band that I have not planned for a replacement lunch item. I have had pasta, sometimes not the best of results. Yesterday at the fair I shared a sausage roll with hubby, but the flaky pastry got stuck. Not a pretty feeling! Thanks for giving me another view point toweards bread! I shall try a slice for lunch!

Hi Melanie, I think you are right about the restriction aspect. I do eat what hubby eats, just less of it. Have bought a scale so I can start keeping a food diary, that may help me know exactly what I am eating! Dana

I'll have to be aware of this as I am a chugger of water, too! I am trying now to slow down the amount, but keep forgetting!

Thanks for this whole thread. I learned HEAPS!!! Just a query, my doctor has said he uses 9.75cm & 10cm Lapbands and the APS Lapband all 3 having a balloon capacity of 5cc. I have emailed him to ask what that means. Does anyone here know? My band date is 26th February 2008 in Mexico.

My Name is Dana and I am from New Zealand. However we are living in Edmonton Alberta for 3-4 years. I am married, with one daughter (who lives in Georgia with her adoptive family). My starting weight is roughly 215-220 and my goal weight is 150. This is a real learning experience for me and hopefully a good journey to a healthier life!

Called Dr Daviduck, he only does patients of Dr Coburn. I have called Dr Mitchell in Calgary and signed up with him. He will be fine till I go home to New Zealand. Thanks for helping, everyone! Dana

When one has a PB, how fast does it happen? Do you have one at the time of the meal (and potentially with dinner partners) or do you have time to nip off into the bathroom? I guess I am asking if it is like a feeling that you are going to PB and you have time to organise yourself? Or is it sudden onset? :girl_hug:

Ki Ora Kiwi's, Hubby and I are in Edmonton for 3-4 years, then back home to Mangawhai. I am having my band procedure in Mexico on the 26th of February. This whole site has been great and very informative. But nice to have our own little spot, too! I have joined in the Feb 2008 bandster group as well as the Canadian one.
