I've been using Patch MD vitamins. 6 month follow-up = Needed vitamin D supplement. 9 month follow-up = Vit D still not optimum and Folate borderline. All other labs normal. Not waterproof. No residue.

Vitamin Help Please :)
misi324 replied to sweetsavannah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started on Bariatric Advantage chewables, then switched to Patch MD multivitamins after the first month. Eating 2 caramel calcium chews per day. My 3 month labs were all in the normal range. Vitamin D was on the low side of normal, but up from what it has been in the past. My Dr. doesn't have a problem with his patients using them -- but did warn me to make sure the patches don't come off when the heat of summer rolls around. You might give them a try. -
PatchMD vs Bariatric Advantage

I started on Bariatric Advantage chewables, then switched to Patch MD multivitamins plus after the first month. Eating 2 caramel calcium chews per day. My 3 month labs were all in the normal range. Vitamin D was on the low side of normal, but up from what it has been in the past. The folks at my clinic don't have a problem patients using them as they've seen good results, but did warn me to make sure the patches don't come off when the heat of summer rolls around. -
4 Months Post-Op & Hair Loss has started :-(
misi324 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on 1/5/16 and noticed my hair is starting its fall-out phase today. Dr. said it would be closer to 6 months post-op. I guess I'm an early bloomer. :-( -
Getting sick after taking vitamins
misi324 replied to baileyrahn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might want to consider the PatchMD multivitamin that you wear. I'm almost 4 months out, been using the patches for 2 months and my 3 month labs all came back in the normal range - I still chew calcium and take B12 shots. Oh, and my Dr. approves. -
I don't work for the company -- completely non-biased here. I just wanted to share with y'all that my 3 month labs came back with everything in the normal range after using the Patch MD transdermal multivitamin the past 2 months instead of chewables. I take calcium chews and B12 shots. My Vitamin D was in the lower range of normal, so I'm going to supplement that separately, but it's actually gone up since the last time it was tested. Here's hoping my 6 month results hold steady. I'll post if they don't.

Estimated post-op weight loss chart
misi324 replied to Talaria's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, pretty much spot on for me. Started at 253. Down to 210 at 3.5 months. I'm 5'6". -
Congrats!! I had my surgery the same day as you. I'm down 37# from 253 on 1/5 and feeling like I'm losing too slowly. I thought I would be down 50# by now. What was your weight on surgery day?

I was sleeved yesterday and I just got home from the hospital. Now the real fun begins! I was prepared for the pain to be a lot worse today, but is hasn't been that bad. So, I will brace myself for tomorrow. Do you recall which day your pain "peaked" and when you noticed it subsiding?

I had mine on 1/5/16. Following!

Is laparoscopic surgery possible if someone had other abdominal surgery procedures in the past?
misi324 replied to marioclark's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It probably won't be a problem, just communicate with your surgeon about it. I had gall bladder removed laparoscopically in the past, as well as a "crash" emergency c-section (under full anesthesia and cut vertically straight down my abdomen). Neither of those procedures (or scars) were an issue. -
You may also want to check the self-pay options with Dr. Scott Stowers at My Bariatric Solutions in Texas. He has offices in N. Fort Worth/Alliance and Decatur. He has a mobile unit and works with a lot of patients who travel in. (And he went to school in OK ????) http://mybariatricsolutions.com/dr-scott-stowers-bariatric-surgeon I'm scheduled for surgery tomorrow, so I can't speak for that part of it yet, but Dr. Stowers and his staff have been timely, courteous, and have worked to streamline the whole process for me. Less than 8 weeks from initial appt. to surgery for me. Best of luck!

My surgery is scheduled at 10:30 in the morning, 1/5/16. Bundle of nerves and excitement!!

I'm scheduled tomorrow too - good luck!!

I had my initial appt. on 11/11/15, approval 2.5 weeks later, and scheduled for tomorrow, 1/5/16 -- could've gotten in last week, but I chose to wait until 2016. So, in total, it will have taken less than 8 weeks (that included 2 major holidays) for me from start to surgery and could've been done in 7. I think it all depends on the surgeon/clinic and the insurance requirements. I had originally contacted 2 surgeons. The one I went with got me in and all tests done within a few days of my phone call. The other one took 3 weeks to confirm my insurance and return my original call -- I already had a planned surgery date with the other guy by then!

Hi. I started my PreOp diet today - surgery scheduled for 1/5/16. I developed a cough due to seasonal allergies and I'm afraid it will cause my surgery to be postponed. I certainly don't want surgery to be delayed, but I imagine if I can't kick it by next week, it won't be good to go under anesthesia or have a persistent cough after abdominal surgery. I called my Dr. and they gave me the OK to take cough syrup this week. Has anybody gone through anything like this?

7 Days away with a COUGH
misi324 replied to misi324's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the reply. I hadn't thought about the apparatus. Did the coughing and/or breathing apparatus add to your pain or were the pain meds enough? I made it all Fall without these allergies kicking up, then boom! ???? I don't think I've ever started treatment so quickly to allergy symptoms in my life after it dawned on me I might get postponed. -
