    Who to tell

Because I know some of my extended family are butt heads I am keeping it to limited people. My wife, my MIL, my mom, my stepdad, a couple close friends. That's it. People already have enough ammunition without you handing them extra. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I went protein crazy!

You can't put it in liquid hotter than 140*. I heat the liquid, usually Water, then test the temp with a thermometer. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Cigna

My doctor told me to lose 20lbs. I gained some after that so I still have 8 lbs to go. I plan on losing more if I can. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Had my pcp appointment today and I'm down 5.6 lbs this month. They puts me at 20.something in the last 2 months. I've got 8 more lbs to go before my surgery and at least a month and a half to do it in so I should be fine. Best advice I can give for pre-op patients is don't wait until the 2 week diet or the surgery to start changing your eating habits. I do 2-3 Protein shakes/drinks a day and a low carb dinner. I've bee doing this for 2 months now. I have seen far far too many people flipping out when the 2 week diet time comes and not sure if they can do it and cheating. I think it's best if we prepare ourself physically and mentally. I've also gotten to try many protein products and know which ones I do and don't like. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I ended up canceling my appointment and moving it to Tuesday because we were having so much family fun Friday that I didn't want to stop and ruin it with my doctors appointment. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I went protein crazy!

Be careful with premiere ready to drink after surgery. It's more of a concentrate versus an isolate. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Pre-Op Diet Fears...how did you do it?

I haven't had surgery yet but I didn't want to be shocked come my 2 week diet so I started at month 4 of my 6 months and I have been doing shakes 2-3 times a day and then a low carb dinner. I've been able to lose a good chunk of weight and I also will be quite used to eating this way when I "have" to. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Hi everyone. Thread is bigger than I thought. I have a PCP appointment Friday and that will start my last month of this mess. Woohoo. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Low calorie chewing gum?

sugar free gums and candies have sugar alcohols in them and cause gas and also they tend to do the opposite of taking away the craving. They cause you to want to eat. I can see it not being a problem 1+ years out when you are well established though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Disney World

I looked years ago because I was worried about rides too and I found a lot of info on being overweight. Disney is very fat friendly so don't worry! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Adult beverages after the sleeve?

You can eventually drink but remember alcohol will have 4-5 times the potency it did before so you will get drunk very quickly if not careful. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Dissolvable stitches/sutures

If you have external stitches they are super easy to take out yourself. You just need a tiny pair of scissors and you clip the stitch and pull it out. Very easy. Check on YouTube and you'll see it done. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Protein water

I tried the Adkins Lift Lemon and wasn't too thrilled with it but I added some Crystal Light flavor squirt thing to it (can't remember the name, like Mios) and the taste was way better. nectar is also the way to go! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  16. I had to do the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory and it was either 500 or 800 questions. So I'd take 175 anyway. The interview was just basically what diets have you tried, what are you expectations, what's your biggest fear about the surgery, etc. It wasn't anything to be worried about really. I need support...

The pending surgery has me thinking about the same thing and I realize how much of my family's life revolves around food. It's pretty sickening to think about it. I told my wife we would have to come up with other things to do besides eat. But as someone already said you will be able to do more than you could before. Eating is easy. Soon a bunch of things will be easy! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    CPAP Machine

You may want to see if you can change your surgery date. Getting used to a CPAP is something that takes time and you may have to wear it X number of hours for X number of days to comply with your insurance covering it. It might he rough trying to still get used to it in the hospital after surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Trouble finding vitamins?

Chewable Vitamins don't have thiamine. Thiamine is extremely important. There are many vitamins out there that will do what you need. Every doctor will say you need something different. I wouldn't worry about exact amounts. Just need a multivitamin and take double the dose. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Cleanliness after surgery

I actually have one of those for when my back just won't let me reach but you have to get a good squat to use it and I can't imagine squatting like that either lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Calorie tracking App?

Baritastic is for those who are going to or have had bariatric surgery. No weird changing of settings because you need lower nutrition requirements. I like it so far. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. Do it. I'm currently pushing myself and I am still about 3 months from surgery. I'm afraid the drastic change will be hard for me so I'm trying to change it now so it's not such a shock after surgery. I've lost 15 lbs but I had gained 10 since my first appt with my doctor so I'm only down about 5 but still going! High Protein, low carb! It's also a great time to find out what Protein shakes and stuff you really like. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
