I want my shiny hair back !

John Frieda makes a great glossing treatment that leaves your hair shiny and moisturized for about two weeks after you use it, you can use it as often as you like: http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod620050

    Vacation

Hi @@KristenLe, since you asked me about this a couple of times wanted to update you. I spoke to my surgeon today and he is not concerned about the flight or blood clots. All good.
  5. Just a bump to say I spoke to my surgeon today and he said I will be cleared to swim after my first pre-op visit which is about 4-5 days after surgery. Nothing too strenuous for 2 weeks, but I'm fine to hang out in the pool or the ocean after that first check up.

    I went protein crazy!

Based on advice from this board, I've tried mixing GENEPRO protein into hot coffee and hot soup and it was perfectly fine each time.
  7. Pre-op diet doesn't start until July 2nd but I've been trying to follow it early so I can lose as much weight as possible. However couldn't pass up a glass of sancerre tonite. Oenophiles you know what I'm talking about !

    I went protein crazy!

I happened by a GNC on my way to the subway last night and decided to pop in and try one of the Isopure clear drinks. They were having a buy one get one 50% off everything in the store sale so I immediately forgot everyone's advice to NOT stock up before surgery and ended up buying a bag of Isopure Zero Carb vanilla, Quest Peanut Butter Flavor, a Blender Bottle, some single serve Proteins, PB2, etc. Ooops. Also, the red Isopure drink was not delicious. But given that it is clear and has 40g of Protein I think I will keep 2-3 bottles on hand for the days immediately post op.

    spray tan

I hope we get a real answer too. I don't even need my stomach to be tan, I won't be wearing a bikini. Just want my arms and legs etc to get a good glow before I travel. But was always scared to try it.

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

Goal weights are tricky at our height. The lowest I recall weighing was in the 120s and I looked pretty great but that was over 10 years ago. I think I would look more than fine at 100-115 lbs but I just don't think I will ever weigh so little. Just want to get as much weight off as possible and feel healthier...more energetic...stronger.

So where are 30 somethings shopping?

I was going to recommend Madewell as well if you like Anthro vibes. Also any good department store will have a section of festival inspired looks- barneys, neimans, saks etc Asos has cute stuff online and for soooo cheap.

    10 months post op pics

    You look amazing! Wow
  15. Hi there. My surgeon's office submitted my paperwork for approval on Friday June 17th and called me with the approval today June 27th. I have UHC Choice Plus.
  16. Hi @@KristenLe - you brought up this great point in a previous post of mine. I did tell the nurse at my preoperative testing and she said it would be fine but recommended I double check with my surgeon. I'll ask him about it when I see him Wednesday. Appreciate the reminders! And boy I hope my flight is on time too.
  17. My date is July 7 but I'm out of town July 2-6, flying back the night before surgery so I'm working on this list. Have to have everything ready for the hospital and immediately postop before I leave on the 2nd. Here's what I have so far: - make sure I have at least one of all of the allowed post op liquid options stocked and reachable (broth, tea, protein powder all come down from the high shelves. Popsicles in the freezer and ready made drinks in the fridge) -fill my prescriptions before I leave town - clean bed sheets to come home to (always the last thing I do before traveling anyway) - place heating pad by the bed in case I need it - braid my clean hair the night before surgery (so I don't have to worry about it!) - make sure I have antibacterial soap on hand (hibiclens) - fill all the ice cube trays - clear my schedule for the days immediately following surgery - stock up on some library books and fresh reads for when I'm around the house (looking forward to this!) - set out some comfy, easy to wear breezy clothes for around the house - clean the house (in case I'm too tired after) - pack for the hospital (phone charger, gas x strips, eyeglass case, face cream, headphones) That's all I have so far. I'm recovering alone so this list may look strange to anyone who has help! Should you have Liquid Tylenol on hand maybe- so you don't have to go out and get any? (Because I am hoping you won't need the heavy-duty prescription drugs for post-op pain!) Great idea. I'll add to my list. Thank you! I'm thinking some kind of gentle laxative as well. Based on reading the forums!

    Airport security issues ?

Fascinating thread. I too am frequent traveler with TSA pre check and global entry. My abdominal area has been patted down enough times to make me think it has to do with how my fat hangs (I'm still pre-op)

    Checking in alone?

I had the same experience with my endoscopy. Not sure if it is NY state law or just that clinic's rules. They offered a service where I paid $75 for an escort to accompany me home. I thought i could just ditch her at the curb, but she said the rule was she had to take me to to my door. So we rode the subway home together. It was weird! I'm not having family or friends at my surgery either. Was planning on taking a taxi home (it's just 10 minutes away) if they allow it.
  21. There is such a wide range of pre-op diets. Mine is 5 days of full liquids only.

Honestly I find the premier protein fandom kind of offputting. I'm convinced they are paying people to post about it on here!

    Any Nausea Remedies?

I'm prone to nausea and have great success treating it with ginger products as others mentioned here- tea, ginger ale, ginger candies, raw ginger etc. The best cure I've found though, if you live in a state with legal retail, is the marijuana ginger tincture in the medicinal section of the store.

    Bone broth

Does anyone have a good recipe link to share? I tried the Pacific food brand chicken w Ginger and Vegetable flavors and they were nice and satisfying and certainly convenient but I think there must be a healthier homemade recipe I can try out there. Plus I love simmering Soup on the stove I am traveling up to the day before surgery and this is one of the few homemade things I can have ready in the freezer for post-op.
