Our plans look very similar but yours came in a fancy spiral bound book so I know we can't be in the same program!

@@Kaze I don't know the logic behind my plan either, but I'm not sure that's it. I got the impression my nutritionist just isn't that great at her job. Also, she's been at odds with my surgeon on a couple of points so far and this might be one of them. But above all, they both emphasize protein first, then veggies so if you have room left over than you can have rice and pasta. They have both said they expect me to be getting protein from actual food, not shakes and powders by the soft food phase.

You want your mind blown @@Babbs ? My nutritionists plan allows rice and pasta starting at the soft foods stage. ????

That would be so much easier! But I'm only 3 days post op and my surgeon hasn't cleared me for pills yet. Honestly I'm not even in pain anymore and don't really need it but wanted to see the issue through. I think it's weird that there's no non sugary liquid acetaminophen readily available.

CALLING ALL JULY 2016 SLEEVERS

@@aree1020 Shakes yesterday and this morning. Tonight I put unflavored Genepro protein in chicken broth. I'm assuming protein will be just shakes and broth for the next 7 days until I hit purees. -
The Walgreens and rite aid versions I saw today both had high fructose corn syrup. I'll keep looking though.

Check with your insurance. I had a similar situation- I was required to do 6 months of weigh ins at PCP appts and was under the impression they had to be consecutive. I was out of the country and on deadline for work for most of my fourth month and couldn't make my appointment. It turned out my insurance DIDNT require they be consecutive. But I was freaked out about having to start over and didn't feel reassured until I made that phone call. My insurance is UHC Choice Plus and I got approved with no delay.

@@Swamprat You're lucky if you get ice chips! @@tlyons72 I enjoyed the versed and I liked the propofol used for my endoscopy. That was the best sleep of my life! So you're not alone on that. I'm on day 3 post op and got in 69 grams of protein and 81 oz of fluids today. They're going down easy. I'll keep sipping water until I fall asleep. Kind of amazed that I'm not having any issues with fluids. Must be one of the lucky ones. -
I love this post. I have this crazy theory that everyone looks their best in the beach in a bathing suit in the sunshine! Feel good, look good!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Pharmacist wasn't able to come up with a diabetic offering but I'll try a much better pharmacy tomorrow. Not sure I really need pain meds much more anyway but worth investigating. The adult generic liquid acetaminophen they carried also contained high fructose corn syrup.

I had surgery on Thursday and felt pretty great yesterday - but I kept up with my pain meds and that's the reason I wouldn't have wanted to go to work. I woke up in pain and took them first thing in the morning. I didn't take them yet today and if today goes well I am considering swinging by the office tomorrow. You'll know if you feel up for it. I don't love the idea of being around coworkers and superiors while on codeine - it's strong stuff ! I've had a good recovery so far though. No trouble getting in fluids or Protein, good energy, I've been able to take long walks. So fingers crossed you feel great as well.

Good idea! I'll ask my favorite pharmacist today.

how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?
higher replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
According to my surgeon, my gastric sleeve took about one hour with a liver biopsy as well. -
I did not have one but I had trouble urinating after surgery even though I was up and walking around quite a bit. After midnight that same night my nurse told me she would give me a catheter if I didn't go. So I focused really hard on going because I was scared of the catheter. I walked and walked and ran the Water in the faucets and the shower while I tried. All around the unit were paintings of lakes, rivers and oceans and I took note of all of them as I walked laps around the floor. At around 4 am I finally went after placing my phone on the sink with a YouTube video of a babbling brook playing. I think my body was just slow to wake up from the anasthesia. The nurse had put a bedpan on the toilet so she could measure my output and luckily I passed the test and didn't get the catheter after all.

Glad the warm liquids are helping you guys out. I was able to get 55g of protein and 66 oz of fluids today. Fingers crossed it stays this way. -

Hi there I had surgery on 7/7 as well and am also home recovering since around the same time yesterday. My surgeon did tell me to start working on Protein drinks today but to focus on fluids first. Are you getting in Water? Surgeon wants me to make sure my urine is running clear as a sign that I'm getting in enough fluids. -
Their clothes are so not cute anyway !

Who has had WLS without family and friends?
higher replied to CLN.BK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@trekker954 that's annoying. If it's your house and you paid for it just go ahead and do what you want. I haven't told any family or friends I did this yet. I was waiting until I got approved and then I just kept waiting and then I had the surgery 2 days ago and still didn't tell anyone. I have to figure out what it is about myself that is leading me to keep my surgery a secret and deal with that but I'm not there yet. Talking about it in therapy. So far I haven't had any issues with care. I've been happy to recover at home alone and spread out over my apartment. I was able to gradually keep only post op WLS friendly food and liquids in the house. I took a taxi to and from the hospital. I talk to you guys on here, my surgical team and my therapist. -
Definitely don't send a video. Try to stay busy and move forward on your own.
