how are you spacing out your calcium?
higher posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried searching for a coherent answer and couldn't find one. My nutritionist just says not to take my Calcium at the same time as my multi w/ Iron. I'm taking 2 BariMelt calcium citrates a day which are 50 mg each. They are trash by the way, don't buy them. I'm just finishing the bottle because I hate the idea of spending any more on Vitamins than I already have. I take my first multi w/iron in the AM at Breakfast along with my Ursodiol. At night I take my second dose of each of those. I've been taking my 2 calcium midday, usually after I eat. Does that sound right? I started out taking one each with my multi AM and PM but my nutritionist says not to do that. I should add that I'm concerned about taking this correctly because I have celiac disease which predisposes me to bone density issues. -

@@reree6898 thank you, very helpful! it's ok to take both multis w/iron at once? -
No, they taste more like hard spray cheese. So not worth it.

I had the surgery a month ago and I've already gone on vacation with friends, partied all night at a music festival, gone out to group dinners and a couple of cocktail parties....and at each one I felt more fabulous, energetic and confident than I did before. Seriously I can dance all night all of a sudden. I don't think people really notice who is eating/drinking what at parties.

Protein shakes from POwder- why must be consumed within 10 minutes?
higher replied to ironpoorer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
crazy! sometimes i leave half a shake in the fridge overnite! -
3 g of protein per almost 30 crackers. I doubt she is eating 30 crackers in a sitting at this stage. So they really don't have protein like @@Inner Surfer Girl said.

I'm 4 weeks as well. Here's a different perspective. I was traveling without a scale from 2.5 - almost 4 weeks post op so I didn't weigh myself every day in that period. When I got home- I had lost. But I have no idea if I stalled or not for a week. So I would say stay off the scale! But much easier said then done. Now that I'm home I'm on the scale 2x/ day and I haven't lost! Haha.

"Rule?" In whose kingdom? A person who chooses to live on 550 calories is courting suicidal and homicidal tendencies. That's why I asked ! -

I read a lot about drains on here so I asked my surgical team about it and they looked at me like I was crazy and said drains were the old way of doing things and that up to date hospitals don't use them anymore. But so many people on here have had them - they must be more common than that. They look like a huge PITA so I'm glad I didn't have one. -
I think I overate some hamburger meat by a couple of bites the other night and I got some loud hiccups about 20 min after. Painful too!

@@Bufflehead nothing to do w/ the OP's question but how does that rule of thumb work out as your weight gets lower? Let's say you weigh 155 and want to lose, that puts you all the way down at 550 calories/day? I am guessing you adjust but just curious if you know the rule. -
It's totally human to be upset and annoyed and disgusted. Eventually you'll move past those emotions and realize you're way better off...on to bigger and better!

I'm too early post-op to care too much about flavor but these are great suggestions @@Christinamo7 @@OKCPirate Ugh except the ranch! I don't think I've ever had hidden valley anything in my life, for some reason it totally turns me off. I'm partial to creole seasoning myself. I've actually been buying it pre-cooked and cut from the local organic grocery delivery service. The laziest. 6 oz in a container and I just pull a third of the container out for work lunch each day. -
My plan allows for coffee at 4 weeks post op. I haven't had it yet tho! Kinda miss it so maybe will try it soon.

Did anyone NOT have a miserable recovery?
higher replied to ella37's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My recovery went so well that I was confused because this board is overwhelmingly filled with stories of bad recoveries and complications. I had almost no pain, no gas pain, went back to work in a few days and did some long distance travel at 2 and a half weeks post-op. I was so confused because I was expecting agony it that I made a thread about it: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/372467-ok-i-have-to-askare-things-going-too-well-am-i-overdoing-it/ -

Salad....ever again? If so when?
higher replied to LACRACRA2's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm allowed salad at one month post op and my surgeon wanted to me to try a "regular food" before I come in for my 1 month appt. I've had an easy time with all kinds of meat so decided I would try some kind of salad. So as I hit the - month mark yesterday I had a 2 oz portion of an heirloom tomato and basil salad. It was delicious! Went down wonderfully and was so full of flavor. Not quite raw lettuce but I'll try that soon. -
Hi there, I'm single and live alone as well. I've been happy not to cook, because now I can keep my kitchen spotless :-) You can totally get takeout and live off that for a few days, especially if here is a healthful takeout spot near you that you feel like is upfront and honest about what ingredients they use so you can track it properly. But something I've been doing well with so far is what @@Inner Surfer Girl said: small, single serve yogurts and cheeses. Hummus singles. Whole foods sells a box of organic grilled chicken cut up. I forget the brand but I portion out 2 oz to bring for lunch at work everyday, and pack that with a yogurt or cottage cheese. It's more expensive than just grilling my own chicken but it's delicious and EASY and I feel like I'll succeed if I make this easy for myself.

Dairy allergy....how to get protein?

Muscle milk has a nondairy premade shake. 25 g and Protein and 0 sugars. http://www.musclemilk.com/product/muscle-milk-genuine-protein-shake/ I bought the chocolate one the other day, it wasn't bad at all. -
That purse is exactly the matronly kind of bag I was recommending against BUT! My opinion is irrelevant if you like it, because if you like it you will rock it with confidence.
