  1. I haven't been struggling with food but this is the first time I've struggled emotionally since surgery two months ago. My plans to head out of town fell through last minute (long story...family drama) and this is the first LDW in many years that I was stuck in the city. Almost everyone I know is gone and it's just been lonely. I find myself moping much the way I would pre surgery except without the binge eating. Wondering if it's hormones or just the plain ol' blues. Trying to cheer myself up by trying on some clothes I set aside before surgery that were too small. So far they fit but just aren't that cute! LOL

    After the long trek

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Thank you!!! I'm working it! Sooooo close to the 170's right now I can TASTE it!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App You know as long as you keep doing your thing it will soon come. Seriously though, your thread this morning motivated me to take a long walk on the boardwalk here in Brooklyn. Not even close to the distance you covered but a good reminder that the time to miss out on simple joys like long scenic walks is behind us. We live in two of the greatest cities in the world, right?? No time to feel bad about all that time I spent inside eating...moping...only time for moving forward! Enjoying life. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Veggies....

I've had raw tomatoes several times (8 weeks post op) and they went down fine. It's tomato season after all!
  5. That's a smart idea! I go back and forth on the gym. I live by a huge gorgeous park and have been trying to get my workouts in there while it's still nice weather. Winter might push me back into a gym. You might also try some classes at a fitness studio and see if you prefer that.

    NSV shout outs

I love how rarely I have to clean the kitchen and run the dishwasher! Seriously, my kitchen stays spotless because I'm using it so little. I also produce way less trash!
  8. I was cleared for the pool and the ocean by my surgeon at 2 weeks. Did your surgeon say flat out no way? I would ask again and emphasize the points you made here but your surgeon might have a good reason.
  9. Thanks for this thread. My surgeon gave me a 6 month prescription for the liquid form as well. I really dislike taking it and I forget to do it at least once a week. I'll ask my surgeon if I have to keep taking it at my 3 month follow up.

    Consult appointment made

Good luck and let us know how it goes. I don't think it's ever too early for a consult! I'm only 2 months post and already looking forward to plastics lol.

When do you delete your online dating profile?

I once went on a date with someone who we seemed to have a chemistry that clicked very well. At the end of dinner, she told me that she is "deciding between me and another guy". I thanked her for a nice evening and told her I didn't realize I was in a contest. I mentioned I would have originally wanted to see her again, drove her home and then wished her happiness with whoever she selects. If someone (IMHO) is someone you seem to connect with then you should not keep drawing cards from the deck; I am sure whoever you meet that seems to be "the one" you would like to get to know better and date, to not date other people too to see if they can find someone better than you. Karma is a funny thing. It's ridiculous she said this to you on a first date. Who decides to date someone after 1 date? You did the right thing.

When do you delete your online dating profile?

1 month is way way too soon. Also, when you're hot you're hot. Run with it. Date as many people as possible. Keep the momentum going.
  14. @@LowBMISleever Sooo funny. I live in NYC but visit PB a few times a year. I was actually down there for my pre-op diet even! And I agree, restaurant dining is really enjoyable with the sleeve. I get to have a few bites of delicious professionally made Protein - kind of exotic compared to what I eat at home - and I don't leave the resto overstuffed and regretting it like I used to! I dine out 3-5 times a week. BTW how is Echo? I have never tried it because if I am at the Breakers I always end up at HMF. That small plate lifestyle is everything.
  15. It should be "medicinal"
  16. I made it, but never ended up using it and now have a gallon size freezer bag filled with bone broth ice cubes in my freezer that I will probably never use :-/ I used the NYTimes recipe- the ingredients cost $60 and by the time it was done I just didn't love the taste so much. And I didn't get sick of Protein shakes and Water while on full liquids so I didn't really need it. But it was a fun thing to do with my time while recuperating!
  17. Hey- I've spent a lot of time on Palm Beach island and around the area and I would say the restaurants there are so accommodating of almost any diet. Fresh fish is the star of almost every menu on the island- there are multiple cooked and raw options at most restaurants I've dined at there. Seafood is ideal on a post-op diet. It's such a health and image conscious community that stuff like lettuce wraps and lettuce cup instead of tacos and sandwiches have been around there for years. Even pre-op I always lost weight in Palm Beach! I had an easy time at Ta-boo, any of the sushi spots, HMF, Buccan, Nick & Johnnie's, and off the island I ate at La Sirena and Avocado Grill. You will do great. Just follow the advice of those who posted above in regards to sticking to Protein and veggies and you can eat almost anywhere. The only restaurants that are almost impossible are restaurants where EVERYTHING is deep fried or restaurants that just serve pizza & Pasta.
  18. At only 2 months post-op, I weigh myself 2x/day while I'm home but I've had a couple of stretches of travel where I didn't have a scale available. It's not making me crazy- yet! I find it comforting to check in and become super familiar with my daily fluctuations so those don't throw me off later. I've measured myself 3 times so far. I stupidly didn't measure my waist, bust or hips pre-op so I have no idea how much I lost there !
  19. 2 months post op tomorrow (ah!) and still haven't cheated. Kind of can't believe it.

    Airport eating

It really depends on the airport/terminal !
  21. I was told I could expect to lose 50% of my excess weight. I would need to lose 71 lbs to get at the high end of "normal" BMI so I suppose that 50% of 71 is 36 lbs, which I have almost already lost at 7 weeks out. But beyond that I wasn't told anything. And I'm not really sure if those calculations are right? I guess I should have asked. Ideally I want to be in the 115-125 range, so 106-96 lbs lost . But no clue if I can get there. Also totally possible I will feel completely healthy and wonderful at a much higher weight than that. No idea!!!!!!!

    Ride to and from

My hospital NYC was more than happy to let me go home by myself. They even offered to help call a cab. I took an Uber for the 10 minute ride home and even treated myself to the SUV and felt extra fancy.

  24. I have flown a few times since surgery with the Quest single serve Protein powders. Love them - so easy to manage.
  25. @@teedsg Well, it's August and most people are out of town this time of year. So it's possible that the physician or office staff are in vacation or semi-vacation mode. In NYC almost every doctor is out of town right now! And in my office (not medical) we are all just here 2 days this week before going on vacation through Labor Day. So it could just be that.
