Funny observation about clothes post-surgery
losergrl75 replied to gpmed's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I decided to try on a pair of pants that used to be highwaters on me and was surprised that they weren't anymore. Was wondering if I had shrunk, but then I finally figured out that it's because my stomach isn't hiking up the length anymore! New York & Company has been my favorite place to shop since they were known as Lerner's. I had been heartbroken for the last couple of years when I couldn't fit anything from there anymore. Finally fit back into their sizes last month and have been to the store twice and have a couple of online orders on the way. This could be dangerous! -

Oh, the lying!
losergrl75 replied to Cape Crooner's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have taken the same half and half stance like many others, I haven't lied to anyone but I don't necessarily volunteer the information either. My co-workers, family and close friends all know. My husband did request that I not tell anyone what type of surgery I was having because he is very private and he knows I'm an open book type person. I told him, if someone asks me I am not lying. I am not ashamed that I had surgery and I have found throughout life that it takes way more energy to lie than it does to tell the truth. I've only had a couple of people had ask me how I've lost the weight, and I jokingly answered " I cut out 80% of my stomach". However, I check in on FB at the gym most days since I have a couple of accountability partners/friends and I've also posted ( and pinned on Pinterest) tons of high protein/low carb recipes, work out routines, clean eating memes etc. I think most people just contribute my weight loss to that. Plus, I have been a yoyo dieter most of my adult life. So pretty much everyone who knows me is used to me losing a bunch of weight and slowly gaining it back. My cousin who knew I was having the surgery saw how much weight I lost on my pre-op diet and asked for a copy of it and now she does my pre-op diet one week a month lol -
Water intake and fluids
losergrl75 replied to possum83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried room temperature water? Water is the only thing I have temperature issues with and have found I can only drink it room temperature. If it's cold at all, it makes my stomach feel "crampy". -
Women....painful sex after WLS?
losergrl75 replied to ashleypriv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto UTI, at about 2 months post op I had gotten bad about getting all my 64oz of Water in daily. Hubby and I had intercourse and it was exactly as you described. I hadn't had a UTI in so long that I didn't figure out what was going on until I started having some lower back pain and blood in my urine. Went to MD and sure enough it ended up being a UTI. They said they are very common post VSG if you are not getting all of your water in. -

I am having such a hard time!
losergrl75 replied to Lisa_85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT recommend undistracted eating, but it simply does not work for me. I fix my hubby plate and eat while cleaning up the kitchen. I'll take a bite and then put something away or wash a dish etc. Or during lunch, I'll eat while watching TV or on my phone. I take a bite, put my utensils down and watch TV or look at my phone for a bit before I continue eating. Sent from my XT1565 using the BariatricPal App -

Salad Is Officially A Slider Food For Me
losergrl75 replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 8 weeks out and just tried salad for the first time last week. I had heard such horror stories about it not being tolerated well, that I was scared to try it. I , knock on wood, did not have any issues digesting it. Because of the worry of getting Protein, I topped it with 2.5 oz of tuna salad so that every bit of lettuce I took also contained protein. I don't know if that is why it went down so easy. I was also surprised that I was able to eat the 2.5 oz of tuna on top of the 3oz of lettuce since I can usually only get about 3 oz of food total in. Like others said, I guess because it breaks down so much. -

At my 6 week follow up, she said it might be gallbladder pain. She said to keep and eye on it and try to track when it occurs. If it continues and I notice that it's typically after eating, they will check my gallbladder. Sent from my XT1565 using the BariatricPal App

How to avoid awkwardness during group meals?
losergrl75 replied to Sleevedham's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
In today's world so many people have different eating plans ( clean, paleo, keto, gluten free etc). I had a lunch meeting this weekend and declined the lunch portion. I opened my Protein shake and said no thanks I'm doing lo carb/ hi protein right now. No one thought anything of it. Sent from my XT1565 using the BariatricPal App -
Purée Diet - I'm so lost
losergrl75 replied to kalea_04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did a lot of tuna and chicken salad, since they are so moist I was told no need to puree. I especially liked canned chicken mixed with gucamole. Sunkist has different flavored tuna pouches which were really good mixed with light Mayo and seasonings. I also made chili with ground turkey and pureed it in my mini chopper.Scrambled eggs with a little salsa for flavor. Sent from my XT1565 using the BariatricPal App -
I am 5 weeks post op and have been having the same issue but mine is more like a dull ache. I plan on bringing it up at my 6 week follow up this week.

In tears, owe 30k OOP. Don't make the same mistake that I did. PSA
losergrl75 replied to cherryjello's topic in Insurance & Financing
There is no law that says you have to file a claim to your insurance. A person can choose to pay out of pocket for medical expenses without filing it to their insurance. I've done that before when I went to an MD for the purpose of obtaining diet pills and didn't want the visit showing up in my records. If the claim has already been submitted and the insurance has paid their portion, I'm not sure what the MD would use for their withdrawal reason (never had this situation come up). Maybe that is where they feel the fraudulent part would come into play. I wouldn't give up on your insurance company though. Call back and ask if the call was recorded. When quoting benefits reps typically copy and paste them into their notes, so it's possible for them to be in the notes but not have been quoted. Sent from my XT1565 using the BariatricPal App -

Is there a way to make cottage cheese taste any good? I never liked it but my nut said I should start having it Have you tried cottage cheese post surgery? Preop, I hated greek yogurt, just the texture alone made me want to gag. Post op--it is one of my favorite go to foods. -

Current weight :201 Goal Weight: 190 -
Did your office provide you with a detailed list?Everyone's plan is different and the answers will be varied. For example, I was only on clear liquids in the hospital , once discharged home I was on full liquids for 2 weeks which included Protein shakes, broth, fat free cream soups, yogurt, sf Jello, sf pudding, cream of wheat, etc.

If you asked for your benefits and the rep didn't include the lifetime max when quoting, call your insurance and complain. Tell them you want to appeal based on being misquoted your benefits. I worked cs in health insurance for years and misquotes got approved quite often. Sent from my XT1565 using BariatricPal
