Quandary over chosing a new PCP
lifeofblair replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in The Lounge
I was having the hardest time finding a PCP. Finally found a NP that I really like and she works under internists, which makes me feel better about. I understand the decision process. -
The evolution of weight loss compliments
lifeofblair replied to dhrguru's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I've gone through them all. I'm currently on the withering away and skin and bones. -
I had the bypass with him last summer. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me.

Bummed Out After Watching "My 600 Lb Life: Where Are They Now?"
lifeofblair replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also think when the show started Bariatric surgery still wasn't as big as it is now. Or it wasn't viewed the same now (if that makes sense). He might have been the only one that operated on people that size that was willing. I'm not a huge fan, but at least he is performing the surgery. I would love to see an all-access on what all the patients do before pre-op since it doesn't show that much. -
Three Weight Loss Surgery Maintenance Models - Abstinence, No Dieting, or Mindful Moderation
lifeofblair replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I'm super new to maintenance, so I haven't figured out my approach. I'd love to be in the "no diet", but I don't know if I trust myself to be in that category. I'll probably stick to #1. -
I had blood, urine, an ekg and gastric thing (can't remember what it was called)

I love Quest bars. I've started baking them in the oven at 325 and it's like a real desert! So good. Oh Yeah One bars are good too, but I find quest keep me fuller longer.

Vent: I'm in LAST place in the weight loss challenge! Really?
lifeofblair replied to Essence46's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Our office was doing a weight loss challenge and I jokingly asked if I could retroactively count mine. One girl goes "yours wouldn't count" like losing weight through surgery wasn't the same as losing weight period. So frustrating. -
Water/Protein is a full time job
lifeofblair replied to DeletedMember's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was the same. I liked premier protein before the surgery then couldn't stomach it. I ended up having to do a lot of milk although I didn't meet my goals, but I was trying. I wish I had known about protein water when I was right out. -
Like others I do Wendy's chili and chick fil a grilled nuggets. I just discovered chick fil a's wrap though. So good. I eat half and save the rest for later. It's not too bad nutritionally granted I'm trying to maintain now.
-
I drink Chick fil a's diet lemonade and it's made with Splenda and I haven't had any issues. I love it!

I'm paranoid because I'm doing so well, if that makes sense. :/
lifeofblair replied to swizzle's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm not 139, that's how much I've lost but I'm not too far away which is why I want to stop losing. -

I just had a convo with my nut today and she said she never had a case like mine where I couldn't stop losing. She told me to eat more nuts and such! Easy for me! -
Healthy Snack Ideas?!
lifeofblair replied to cal2okl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been trying to think of non refrigerated snack foods. I know almonds, PB, jerky, and of course there is always protein bars. -
Is there a specific clothing store that you were gunning for once you reached your target/goal weight?
lifeofblair replied to Deleted Profile's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
J. Crew for me. And I have been buying clothes from their factory store now that I'm at goal. -
Protein Goal/Shopping List
lifeofblair replied to DuckieXD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once I was on soft foods, I would make pudding and add unflavored protein powder. I used Unjury. I definitely recommend getting sample packs or protein powder to see what you like. -
My before and after. The first pic I had just started the process and the second was right before i weighed and realized I hit goal.

I have been wanting sushi so bad and almost got some today, but was worried it would make me sick and I was running errands, so I didn't want to risk it. I know the place I go 1 roll would be 4 meals at least they are so big.
-
I know they have 2 different ones. They have a staff lead one and one lead by patients. I haven't been but I'm sure you can go.

I was the exact same way! My doctor didn't put me one a specific amount of purred, he just said you can start eating yogurt and such. I measured it out to make sure I was eating no more than 4 ounces because thats what my nut said. -
Calories Per Day/5 Months Post Op
lifeofblair replied to ericdaggett@sbcglobal.net's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate around 700 or 800 calories per day. I reached my goal and have been working out more, so I have recently upped them to around 1200. But, everyone is different and it and the calorie intake varies on your activity level. I ate around 700 or 800 calories per day. I paid ahead of time, but ended up paying too much and was refunded by the hospital.

I'm in Memphis and I was in Jackson when I started the process, but I went to St. Francis in Memphis.

lifeofblair replied to Kindle's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I miss the convenience of the drive thru. -
Should I or not?
lifeofblair replied to JennyBishop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 23 when I had it and am 24 now. Luckily, I haven't had any complications and it is so worth it.
