Breast lift, no implants-where to begin?
lifeofblair replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I want a lift too! If anything I want a reduction to go with it but I know I need to talk to the doctor. -
Looking for Breakfast Ideas
lifeofblair replied to melyssafaye's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I did applesauce on my soft food phase and you can add unflavored protein powder. I'm lucky I haven't had any issues with eggs and I will eat yogurt for breakfast. Sometimes I eat leftover dinner for breakfast though. I found a recipe for "breakfast brownies" that's made from peanut butter, bananas, protein powder and unsweetened cocoa. I usually make them when my bananas are going bad. But not sure they will work for you right now since you are in soft food phase. -
Lol. Isn't that the truth!!??? I have yet to dump, but I have avoided sugars completely for FEAR of dumping and quite frankly the couple times I even put a piece of rice or Pasta in my new tummy I felt so restricted it hurt. Not doing THAT again! We live, we try, we learn. That's the name of the game, especially when we progress to a "general" diet. I've found, oddly enough, that several times since surgery, I've come upon a restriction that won't allow me to even eat mushy foods. I was completely freaked by it and my surgeon had me back off foods for a couple days, revert to liquids, and it cleared up. Happened again the other day, followed his instructions and it again abated. Use your body and its response as your guide. You really don't want to be eating sugars and heavy starches anyway- Devils foods I tell you!!!! Yeah, when I eat starches I feel so blah. But it's easy for me to avoid them.

I'm finding out that I'm one of those that doesn't dump. Which is nice but at the same time it isn't haha

Conflicting Information From Doctors/Patients And My Fears
lifeofblair replied to Hey Man's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have the sleeve, but carbonated drinks make me feel weird after a sip. I can't even think about drinking them. But, as you said many people have different issues after surgery. I haven't had any issues on food. I can eat spicy, bread, etc. just very rarely and smaller amounts -
Okay, so I'm probably counting my eggs before thy hatch, but I want a tummy tuck but I'm only 24 and at some point I would like to have kids. Is it crazy to wait for a tummy tuck until after I have kinds way off in the distant time? I don't want to get a nice new tummy then stretch it out again. Anyone else have a similar experience or thoughts? I also want to get other work done, so I could do that and wait on the tummy just seeing what others have done.

What was your "Yep. I'm getting WLS." moment?
lifeofblair replied to GranadoM74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes we do. Mine was on April 3rd, 2015. Was near the end of a 14 hour workday......did something my arse shouldn't have done.....lifted shyt in a careless manner.....ended the workday and came home and decided to manhandle a boat trailer (with boat on still on it) in my garage to make it easier on my b-i-l when he came to borrow the boat. Herniated a disc in the process. The weeks and months ahead presented me with the worst pain I'd ever experienced. My regular family practitioner, my spine surgeon and my pain management doc all said to lose weight asap. So.........bariatric surgery plans were made and followed up on. Glad I did. It's strange... My back started hurting worse as I was losing weight. Then I found out on top of the arthritis I have a herniated disc. -
Do you need someone to take care of you after WLS?
lifeofblair replied to nikki78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was really tired/weak, but I could've managed by myself. Anesthesia really affects me, so I knew I would need someone there in case I needed help. -
Helpful tools at home post-surgery
lifeofblair replied to Alphabetize's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Somebody else in Memphis - yay! St. Francis here too - Dr. Wegener. How long ago was your surgery and how was your experience there? The small containers are an awesome idea! I didn't realize those were 4oz... super helpful in getting a better idea of portion. Thank you! He did mine too! I had mine last July and I have been at goal for almost 2 months. If you ever have any questions feel free to message me about it. Especially, since we have the same Doctor. -
Helpful tools at home post-surgery
lifeofblair replied to Alphabetize's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in Memphis too! Who is doing yours? I went to St. Francis. I didn't really use anything different kitchen tools wise. I just stocked up on Protein powder/drinks and sugar free popsicles. I did get a bunch of those ziploc plastic containers. They have the small ones that hole 4 oz and that's I measured meals once I got to that stage. I put my yogurt, eggs, etc in them and grabbed and headed out the door. -
So, I use a pill case because i hate carrying so many bottles with me, but I can't find one that fits the calcium citrate. Has anyone found any? Recommendations? I would think there would have to be one out there somewhere.

Young and getting the bypass
lifeofblair replied to achappex3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 23 when I had mine. I'm turned 24 soon after. -
What made you chose bypass vs sleeve?
lifeofblair replied to vandernoordh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was leaning toward sleeve and my doctor said that the bypass would be better for my medical conditions, so I said okay. I was really fine with with either. -
I know it's that time when I start to want to snack on everything! I still haven't figured out how best to deal with it. I don't graze though. I stick to the plan and usually end up eating more protein bars than normal because i crave chocolate.

How much food should I eat
lifeofblair replied to imala74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My program was 4 ounces per meal and when I was on puréed I did scrambled egg, yogurt, pudding (add unflavored protein powder), apple sauce, refried beans (I had trouble the first time I ate these). -
When Have You Gotten Off Track?
lifeofblair replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Usually when I get off track it's at the gym. If I skip a day, then I say well I go tomorrow and that turns into next week and y'all know the rest. The last few weeks I have been eating more food (nut recommended) I still track everything to give me an idea, but I have incorporated more normal food. Bread here and there (unfortunately I haven't found a good my pouch doesn't still love). I just make sure it's in moderation, that way I don't get too of track. -
Sugar Free Popsicle Help
lifeofblair replied to twinkats's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used the regular popsicle brand in the grocery store. The ones that come in orange, grape and cherry -
I had it and took medicine for it for a few days after surgery. I would shower get ready to do something then feel sick and have to get back in bed.

Personally, the side effect I get from anesthesia is nausea and I know this will happen and expect it. I was scared when it happened after my surgery because it was all blood and I was scared in my delirious mind that I ripped my stomach open. I was completely fine once it was out of my system though. I honestly don't even consider this a problem since I know it will happen to me, but I have had anesthesia several times over the years.

I can't seem to find other multivitamins that have iron in the store. -
Help me pick a Multivitamin...
lifeofblair replied to mid's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just use Flintstones. They have everything I need and my nut recommended them. The store brand is cheaper, but make my mouth super dry, so I have to take them in the morning -
"You're too skinny"
lifeofblair replied to Ryan TN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat. All the people telling me that I'm too skinny are ones that knew me at my heaviest. Whereas others just say how great I look. I like they are just comparing how your normal weight to the overweight and then someone does look skin and bones. -
Tired of discussing my weight with people
lifeofblair replied to 24601's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People commenting on mine has slowed down. It's mainly the people who I don't see regularly that still comment. It's bothersome depending on how they word it. If I get one more "if you lost anymore you're going to blow away!" I might go crazy. -
I thought they were trolls
lifeofblair replied to csawesome's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nut said they had someone like that. Right after they were discharged the person went to McDonald and immediately had to come back to the hospital. -
Is anyone's goal weight higher than the BMI chart weight?
lifeofblair replied to her1981's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My nut gave me a range of 30 lbs. and the low end was still considered "overweight" by bmi. I told myself I wanted to be under that just for wiggle room. I kept losing though so now I'm comfortably in the normal range of bmi. I would mind though if I did gain a few pounds.
