What did you just call me?
lifeofblair replied to Threetimesacharm's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Skinny minnie. My mom calls me that. I know it's her being showing love haha -
Okay, so I got off track when I was out of town, but now that I'm back I'm trying to get back into the groove. My problem is I get "hungry" I'm sure it's head hunger, but it's so hard to ignore. That and I still want to boredom eat. That will get me back to pre surgery and I don't want that! What are some things you do to take your mind off eating and/or hunger? I find myself more obsessed with food after surgery than I was before and I need to get my head out of that thinking.

He was mine! I haven't had any issues, and recovery was easy, so hopefully yours is too!

Which Food Did (Or Will) You Miss the Most?
lifeofblair replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I'm def an emotional eater and I'm having a hard time finding another outlet -
What did you do?
lifeofblair replied to melbell2222's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was allowed to have unlimited onions, green beans and other veggies. That's how I got through! That and fear they would cancel the surgery -
Which Food Did (Or Will) You Miss the Most?
lifeofblair replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I had sushi last night for the first time in over a year. It was worth every little bite! So good. I will say I do miss all the unhealthy foods (I have gotten off track), but I am now a firm believer in "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels". Honestly, at this point it's my motivation not to let the bad habits take hold. -
Regain.... I'm so upset with myself.
lifeofblair replied to oneangel34's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I didn't have the band, but I am catching myself slipping into old habits. I also have a bad back and doctor told me to do the elliptical, bike or something similar. There's always pool exercises. My insurance doesn't cover my visits anymore, so I didn't go to my 1 year check up. it's hard, but we can't get back on track! -
Which Food Did (Or Will) You Miss the Most?
lifeofblair replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
The other day I could've gone for a large coke from McDonald's. Theirs is the best. But, I miss eating sweets the most granted that's what got me here, I wish I could eat them in small portions but I've never been able to -
I ate lettuce once I was cleared for all foods. At first it filled me up really quickly, but I never had any issues with it

Telling my daughter...
lifeofblair replied to debd80's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was 14/15 when my mom started the process. She was a single mom, so I went with her to all the appointments and meetings. I learned a lot, but also was a hard headed teenager so I didn't listen. But, here I am a year after surgery. My mom was always open with everything she did. -
When Did You Know You Could Do It?
lifeofblair replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I knew I could do it if only because of the fear of messing it up and fear to eat the wrong things. It's worked for me. Fear is powerful! -
I love fruit I'm not sure I would be able to have done the surgery if fruit was a no. I know some programs don't allow it. Last summer was hard because I was on soft foods and such it was so hard to eat peaches. My favorite!

I know hair loss is common, but how long does it last? I'm 5 months post op and my hair is really coming out. Just wondering how long to expect this to last.

Even Young People Ask "Why Didn't I do This Years Ago?"
lifeofblair replied to Beck90's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Part of me wishes I had done it at 18 or maybe even at 17 if possible( I had it at 23). I actually almost did it at 16, but backed out of the lap band. But, then I think I wouldn't have been ready and I think I would have failed the surgery. I'm glad now that I can enjoy life and see what my (healthy) future holds. -
Guys, I don't like bacon anymore!
lifeofblair replied to Talaria's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nothing has tasted bad to me, but chocolate smelled bad for awhile. -
Sweets from my favorite local bakery. My mom visited and I had her bring them the day before I started my pre op diet.

@hiraeth. Mine is better. So far. I'm nervous to go off the medicine because ive been on it since I was 12. It will feel weird not to take it. I still get the headaches but I expect that every now and then.

Overwhelmed...
lifeofblair replied to justhere4theshow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it makes you feel better, I haven't had any issues. The one time I got sick was because i ate too fast. Sometimes I think something is wrong because nothing is wrong. I'm a little weird ha -
@@Hiraeth I've been on diamox for 12 years now. I went off of it for a little and it came roaring back. But my doctor keeps reducing it which is nice. I never noticed having to go to the bathroom more. Maybe because ive been on it so long. Who knows. I wouldn't take it either if I got kidney stones.

Oh, you aren't discouraging me at all! I appreciate your honesty! I have actually been tested for h pylori, and the test was negative. They don't know exactly why I have gastritis. They thought it was from taking Excedrin for my Pseudotumor cerebri, but I recently found out my gallbladder was failing (only 12% function). I just had it removed several weeks ago. I'm guessing that's what caused it. It could also be stress, which is strange because I don't feel that stressed. That sounds like a good idea - to wait until Christmas break. I guess I'm willing to wait about 6 months, but a year seems too long for me. I think it's because I'm naturally an eager person. Plus, I'm so ready to feel like myself again. I will definitely keep you guys updated. Thanks for much for responding! <3 I have pseudotumor also. Lucky for you that excedrin helps your headaches. Nothing helps mine. Do you take other medicines for it? (I never hear of many others having it, so I'm interested) Hoping my doctor takes my medicine down another dose in two weeks for it. I'm ready to be off of it completely.

Relationships or meeting someone new post op
lifeofblair replied to Jobey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I actually just started seeing someone recently. We had a pool day yesterday and I was super nervous. I wear a tankini, but wear bikini bottoms. He didn't seem to mind, but it definitely crosses my mind a lot. I figure if he like me he will be okay with it, but time will tell. -
I get it in the winter a lot. Especially if I'm running errands during my lunch hour. Can't beat a $2 meal

My body has kind of stopped in the 160-165 range. I made a decision to try to get more calories in so I wouldn't lose, once I started eating more I have been hovering around the same range.

Are Protein Bars even worth it?
lifeofblair replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Food and Nutrition
I find that quest bars fill me up. I still usually only have them either for breakfast or if I'm going to be somewhere with bad food and I'll need to eat and such. I have caught my self eating them for sweets rather than protein, so I understand the cons to them. -
Mine were normal until April, now they have been all a mess. I'm hoping they will stabilize soon.
