August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
2bthinagn replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WOW ct that is great! I am pluggin along getting real discouraged. I have been plateaued since about December. I had lots happen here at home that have contributed to that. And most of all my hunger has returned with a vengeance. I have been for 2 fills in the last several weeks. The Doc said the pressure in my band seems to be good. But, my restriction is sporadic. I dont know what to do. I dont want it all to stop here. I have a long way to go still. -

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I'm a Sharon too! At night a good snack for me was a sugar free jello and a light yogurt alternated in a wine glass, looked like a parfait when i was done. Sometimes I would get so hungry i would just go to bed at night so I wouldnt eat. Also, not sure what foods your Doc lets you have right now, but string cheese is good. Make your snacks a protein. It seems to keep you satisfied for longer. -

Janet, that is too neat. I hope they want honest answers, thats the only way to improve on things. Give em hell!! -
Thanks for the responses I have gotten. I understand the kick in the butt. But it can be done without totally embarrassing someone, we are all supposed to support each other. I will try to make one of the KCBandsters meetings although I cant make the 4-21 meeting.
-
Not sure I want to go back to any support meeting. Last one I was at SOMEONE WHO WILL REMAIN NAMELESS, very much embarrassed me, when I was trying to be honest with the group. I didnt ask for her critique, I was making an honest statement.

but I found what you all are talking about. I think. Laurend-I hadnt been on here for awhile, your numbers are looking good! I am at a standstill, and went to get another fill 3-31. Now I have next to no restriction, I feel like I am sliding down hill backwards here. I wonder if he took some accidently instead of putting some in? Does that happen very often?

Turkey neck here too, first place I lost is my chest. I am big busted thats OK with me. But now they are getting LONG! I have gone down 1 band size and 1 cup size. I cant get in a lot of exercise because I have a foot injury. So I am doing swimming at the Y. My loss seems to be really slow. Got a fill Friday and I have restriction. I have had to PB 3 times because I have eaten too fast or not chewed. And NOW I know what not to eat that causes this!!!! I see people that are at 6 months and have lost 70-80lbs. Then I look at their age and they are a lot younger than me. I am going to lose this weight and still look like poop because I have all this loosey goosey skin. YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
In search of words of encouragement.... or just a little truth (whatever works).

The time period before your first follow up is supposed to be your healing time. At this point a lot of us had no restriction at all. At this point a lot of it is will power. You should start getting restriction as you get fills. Dont beat yourself up. Look at what you have lost and you HAVE made a big decision just having the surgery. Good Luck and take care. -
HAPPY BANDIVERSARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Approved..had Surgery..now Insurance Is Trying Not To Pay!
2bthinagn replied to CATHY1102's topic in Insurance & Financing
I agree with what was just said. Also, check to see if you have a Benefits person with your company. You may also have legal benefits through your company. Not a company attorney but a referral to an attorney. I have used that through my husband legal service at work. They sent 1 letter and it was taken care of. I cant believe they would refuse after you have it in writing that they would pay. I think you have the upper hand here. -

I am at 40lbs. Wishing I was up with the bigger losers! -
I am not getting email notifications of threads I am subscribed to. I have checked to be sure I am subscribed, but nothing gets sent to me. I was going along fine until about 1 month ago. Any ideas? Thanks

For those with BMI 35-40?
2bthinagn replied to ronwifey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with socalgal, and maybe since it is getting close to being a reality he may be getting apprehensive. I think everyone gets nervous when the time gets closer. I know I did. Assure him what the mortality rate is. It is very low.Tell him you want to be alive as long as you can, and this can help achieve that. My husband is very supportive, goes to all my appointments and meetings, and even makes me a protein shake for breakfast. I'm really glad I have his support. Goodluck -
I wish I could have done this when I was younger. If I didnt do this I would still have that 40lbs. You can still eat most anything, things that dont work with your band....it will tell you and it will make eating them not worth it.

January is always the month that those changes take place. Maybe this happened for a reason. You may really like the other Dr better. And thats a good amount of money saved that you can use to buy new clothes!! My Doctor.. I went to a seminar in February, mailed my info in within a week, and still didnt get the first Dr appointment until May or June. So my surgery was in August. Hang in there, I feel all things happen for a reason, we just might not know what the reason is. Take this time to start chewing your food better, drinking the recommended amount of water and cutting out sweets and carbs. Get a spiral notebook and you might also start writing down everything you eat and what your water intake is. The psych we went to likes to see all this to know you are serious, he will approve you faster. Good luck, it will be here before you know it.

If I eat salad, my band and stomach will hurt for DAYS. I can have 4-5 bites and that is it. I love salads too. Also, I am guaranteed to get stuck if I eat rice. Funny how we are all different with the same foods. -

Ive never been stuck for longer than 5 minutes. BUT, I know if I tilt my head back and look at the ceiling that seems to help. Also, raising my arms up, ya know ..."reach for the sky". That helps too. Indio...did I understand you right, your scale measures weight and calories?? If that correct, I want one. Where did you get it and whats the brand name. I have had a problem with comments not getting forwarded to me, so I am hoping whatever Alex has done will fix that problem here. -
Saw your note about water aerobics. I joined water arthritis classes in Sept, and I love them. Our Y doesnt offer water aerobics, but I dont know that I am limbered up enough I could do those anyway. I know from past notes you are a snowbirder, I am jealous, it is 4 degrees here in KC. Hope you are warmer than that!!
