What happens next? How does the process normally work?
2bthinagn replied to jessicaf's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got approval in about 2/3 weeks from United Healthcare once it was sent to them. -
My Mom said the same thing, "No open casket." We did anyway, we needed it. I feel the funeral is for the living, besides she looked better than she had for a long time. She died of Alzheimers.

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
2bthinagn replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Purplemonkey....75lbs that is awesome!!!! Think back to what size clothes were you in before you lost, and what size you are in now! I lost 40lbs several yrs ago while off work from a disability. When I went back NO ONE said anything. Really hurt my feeling. But I knew I had lost it. And you could tell, I went down several sizes in clothes. You really should be proud of what you have accomplished, keep your chin up! -
Just be sure if you are still tanning after surgery, dont tan your scars or they wont fade. I have only done a tanning salon once before a Florida vacation. I tan easy so I didnt use anything but that probably isnt right. The girls at the salon will probably have some high dollar stuff to sell you that is supposed to help speed the tanning process.

I think our Doc only has a 2 day pre-op diet1 I have been so flustered the last 2 days I need to read up and be sure. And the Dr office called this morning, the Dr is on vacation 8-1 so I had to change to 8-8. I guess they forgot to put his vacation on their calendar???? Uhhhh...no Dr.. no surgery!! -
Where in Ks do you live? Who is doing your surgery? I just got my date (then they changed it) it is Aug 8 with Dr Hoehn at Shawnee Msn Med Ctr. I live in Leavenworth KS.

Say, just like before you cant accommodate her. Email her back if that is an easier way to say no. If it would make you feel better and you can afford it offer to help pay for a couple motel/hotel nights. If the place had a pool that would be an additional plus for activities for the kids. Be tough, its your home, dont be a doormat. -

Some on the board here have said...to lay with pillows under your stomach for support, head down, butt up and it helps release it that way. good luck -
Could you have acid reflux? Do you have a recliner, if so try sleeping in that. At least til you can see a Dr. I have a friend that gets reflux, she props herself up in bed with 3-4 pillows behind her head. Good Luck

I am not banded yet, but I went to a support meeting the other night. There was a lady there 58yrs old, has lost 180lbs in about 2 yrs with lapband. She even passed around her new and old drivers license. She said she has stuck strictly to the rules and she is going to Curves now. I didnt get a chance to talk to her after the meeting. But she looked good. I was really encouraged because I have head as we get older it is so much harder to lose. Also, I have been investigating this since April 2005. I was totally decided with getting the band. Then somehow got on this gastric bypass kick. But, most people I know that have had that look sick, just like you said. I am sticking with the band, because it is less invasive. Good luck -
Hi..reading your protein shake questions. My favorite is GNC 100% whey powder..chocolate carmel. YUMMO. 1 scoop protein mix 1 container light yogurt 1/2 container skim milk 1/2 glass crushed ice I put all this in the blender Dont have the figures here at the desk but you get protein from the powder and yogurt both. Its like a malt. SOOO good And Welcome to the UNJURY Homepage I have tried the vanilla and chocolate. Both good. Not banded yet but I have been trying different ones so I can have what I like on hand at home.

Great..I get to see my surgeon Monday. Hopefully can get my surgery scheduled also!! -
Maybe the excitement was in the chase. Dont get discouraged now. My first seminar was Nov/Dec 2005. I see the surgeon Monday and am hoping to get a date. Maybe I will be a Lucky 7 too!! Hope so.

I married 7yrs after I moved to KC. We are both retired now, I dont see us moving back to Spfld. Both of my parents are gone now, but I do have 2 brothers that still live there. I have completely lost contact with the friends I had there. I am waiting for insurance approval right now and they wont even let you see the surgeon until they have that in hand. I know i will be approved, I have 3 insurances and 2 cover lapband. My BMI is definitely there,so I know it will be approved. The insurance person at the Dr's office I go to IMO is dragging her feet. This has been a VERY nerve racking journey thus far. Do you know any 50yr olds that have had the surgery there?
-
Hopefully by the time your surgeon appt comes around you will have an "All clear". That would be a bummer to have surgery postponed for an infected hooha hair!

Hi, I live in Leavenworth KS, but was born in Spfld. Lived there til 1980 when I moved to KC to get a job. I was a single Mom and couldnt find a good paying job there, so moved to Kansas City. I consider Springfield home, still have family that lives there. It amazes me when we come down there how spread out things have gotten. Do the weightloss Dr's or the hospital have a support group there in town?
