  1. That was some bike ride! You are right, you certainly got in a workout!
  2. I would have answered No to this question about a year and a half ago. But then I applied for this job that I was absolutely qualified for. It is in an academic setting (thought not instructional). I blew them away at my interview and honestly thought I had it in the bag. Then I got a letter that they weren't filling the job. About a month after that, a coworker who was a VP called me in my office to tell me that the VP from the other place told her that they loved everything about me but had real concerns about my size. I was completely shocked! This person who told me was completely offended on my behalf and let them know that it was totally their loss and she was actually glad they were stupid enough to pass me over. I looked at it as a blessing in disguise. Thank God I didn't get the job and go work with shallow people like that! It ended well, I was promoted at the place where I worked and I wouldn't change it for anything. Incidently, the person who spoke up for me left and had tried to hire me at the place where she is now working, so at least I know I'm not unemployable! The kicker? They ended up hiring someone from within for that job that had zero experience and really, she isn't a tiny thing herself.

    Newbie from Georgia

Hi everyone! I hope you don't mind me jumping in. I'm also from Georgia, SW GA to be exact. I am going for my seminar tomorrow night and hope the ball moves pretty quickly from there. I have UHC and I was relieved to hear on these boards that they tend to approve pretty quick. I'm planning on using Dr. Crooms in Tallahassee.
  4. It is great to know there are others starting around the same time that I am. I am so excited about this and find myself doing nothing but reading more stuff on lap bands! Ssshhh! Don't tell my boss though! I was sooo not productive at work last week.
  5. Hi everyone! I'm just getting started in my journey to get the lap band. I am going for a seminar next week and hope the get the ball rolling after that. I've thought about doing this for years, and really thought I'd do it last year. However, I decided to do what I could on my own with diet and exercise. All that got me was loosing 20 lbs. and then gaining it back, with 20 lbs. more. YIKES! At 262 lbs., I'm at the highest I've ever weighed in my life and that scares the crap out of me. I don't have any health problems yet, but I know it is a matter of time. It hit me hard how far things have come when my family and I were in Disney World this November and my knees were killing me from the walking. I'm 37 years old (just had a bday) and am 5'2". I'd love to hear from others with similar stats to know how you are doing and how soon after the surgery did you loose enough to feel normal. I am doing a low carb/high Protein diet right now, figuring that it will help get me off the sugars and high carb foods I won't be able to eat once I have the surgery. I have UHC insurance and called last week to make sure this was covered by my policy. It is, but the doctor has to submit predetermination paperwork. Anyone know what that entails? I plan to use Dr. Crooms in Tallahassee, as that is the only one I've found that is in my network provider. I had hoped to use Dr. Bagnato since I've read positive things about him on this forum, but unfortunately, he isn't listed in my network. I really hope I can get this covered through insurance...don't think it is possible otherwise! Anyway, I thought I'd come out of hiding and introduce myself after lurking for so long. I'm so glad to have found this site...it has been such a huge help to me in making my decision to move forward.

    Sex!!!

I have to say, I found this thread yesterday and loved it. I, too, have the fantasy of the wall and being tossed around like a Barbie. Can't wait! On the Sex Swing, I used to be a consultant for Slumber Parties, and what I always told my customers buying the swing was to go to Home Depot or somewhere and buy a cheap smoke detector. Tear all the guts out of the thing and keep the shell. Hang that shell over your hook in your ceiling, and nobody will ever know what you have hidden away in your closet!
