5 months post-sleeve tomorrow & down 80lbs
theladyslipper posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't even believe that it'll be 5 months tomorrow since I've had this procedure. It's been one of the best decisions I've ever made. BEST! The 1st 2-3 months were an adjustment, but now I go out to dinner & to parties & do fine w/ food. I've learned to cut my food into much smaller pieces & I just slowly nibble & this allows me to keep up w/ my regular social activities w/ friends. I'm not afraid to just stop when I'm done & I take a lot of my leftovers home in a doggie bag:) Some days I'm super strict w/ healthy, low-fat Proteins & shakes, but I still have just a bite of what looks good--but I stop at a bite or 2. I could've NEVER stopped at a bite or 2 of the delicious stuff before this sleeve (maybe a bowl or 2)!!! Other days, I'll enjoy those favorite items, but I try to make sure to exercise on those days--even if it's just walking the dog. I'm trying to walk 3-5 times a week & just started a weight lifting class twice a week for the last 3 weeks. I'm grateful to be so mobile again. I'm almost 6'0 and have gone from 268 to 188. To the newbies, stick with your Protein first & don't get discouraged--keep moving. You've got some bright & beautiful days ahead of you!!!! -

theladyslipper replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My mother had this problem--she was sleeved a year & a half ago and lost around 150 lbs in the first year. She has a hard time eating a lot at a time w/ acid reflux. She's since gained 10-12 lbs, but is around 5'8 and 140. She kind of got scared that if she were to get sick, she'd lose more. Never thought that losing too much could be a problem until I watched her go through it. Good luck increasing calories! -
I don't know why I love spicy food, but I do. I travel with Gas X strips & usually don't have any problems, but I'm only 3 months out & haven't tried a lot w/ my new sleeve. So, yesterday I had some pineapple & jalepeno hummus w/ sugar snap peas--maybe 2 Tablespoons at the most and it lit me up. Thought I wasn't going to make it. Will I now be sensitive to spicy foods?? Anybody got experience w/ this topic who has been sleeved for a while???

So thrilled to be back in the 100's...even if it's 199! I'm around 3 1/2 months & have lost nearly 70lbs. So thankful for this procedure & my new lifestyle that it brought about.

Waking up in the morning empowered & excited about the new day & the events that it holds (..and not worrying abt what I'm going to wear!) -
Well, I'm 4 months out & have lost 70lbs! Never imagined I could lose this much in 4 months. I'm so thankful. My energy is up, my outlook is bright & this sleeve is one of the best decisions I've ever made. I had my check-in with the surgeon yesterday & was cleared for more rigorous exercise. I've just been walking so far, but I'm starting a weight lifting/core/cardio interval class on Monday...we'll see how it goes! Good luck to everyone on this fantastic journey!!!

I traveled to Disney at 2 1/2 months & was glad to have my pre-made premier protein shakes as an occasional snack. Have fun travels!

Funny on the retinol comment! True!!! I've found that those little whispers in my mind that come with thoughts of flaws & the "less thans" love to speak up when things are going well. Losing 85lbs in less than 4 months sound like doing well to me...don't let those thought rob you of your joy! -

Muscle cramps 3 weeks post op
theladyslipper replied to elaina831's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally had calf cramps & ended up stretch a lot & walking it out--weird. It stopped adventually. The worst was if my backer & duvet were tucked too tightly pushing my food down---then it would cramp. Good luck!! -

Should I be worried?
theladyslipper replied to deanna2178's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep working your program & it will happen. In the beginning, I could eat 2 bites of chicken at some meals & 1/2 or so of puréed veggie soup at other meals. I had a nearly week stall the 1st month & a good week of a stall the 2nd month--I'm almost 3.5 months out now & have lost around 65lbs--go figure. Sometimes it makes no sense. My doctor did say that when the scale isn't moving, usually your body is shrinking in a way that you notice in your clothes. Something that helped me SO MUCH in the beginning was the my fitness pal app. It was great to log in my weight, exercise & to look back at patterns, as well as, keeping up with my food measurements, protein grams & calories--all were good for my awareness. Good Luck!!! It WILL come off! -
Will I ever be able to eat more than two bites?
theladyslipper replied to pinkypearly1908's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm nearly 3 months out & felt the same way in the beginning! I remember being stuffed after 2 small bites of chicken & 15-30 min later, I'd feel crazy hunger like I hadn't eaten in days & it came on all of the sudden...then another bite or 2 of chicken. So weird. By 2.5 months, that crazy hunger feeling started to happen less & I could eat a little more. Stick with it & remember that what you feel & experience now isn't the way the rest of your life will be! There are even more changes by the 3rd month. Good Luck to you!!! -

Toxic people bring up old eating patterns for me!
theladyslipper posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm nearly 3.5 months post-sleeve & have been doing so well. This sleeve is helping me live in moderation--I walk a couple of times a week & stick to my meal plan, but still have a bite or 2 of things I'd like. So far, I've lost around 65lbs, but yesterday, I got kinda scared b/c I felt like I went back to some old eating habits, just snacking on all kinds of things that are not on my meal plan. I've come so far & don't want to go back to the old eating habits that paved my journey to the sleeve!!! Yesterday, I had agreed to go to lunch w/ someone who is a bit toxic who's been asking me to get together....after that is when all the snacking started. I swear, toxic people kinda drip in toxicity & l left that lunch w/ some of it on me!!! I'm now vowing that I'm not spending time w/ people who don't lift me up & who are stressful to be around! I had made up that it wouldn't be nice of me to pass on that lunch, but I tell you, agreeing to be around toxic folks is like self abuse! I so don't want to go back to unhealthy eating patterns!
