I think sometimes pre op we blame how we feel and why we are not where we want to be in life on our weight eg "i would be happy if I wasn't fat; I'd be confident to travel/swim/whatever if I wasn't fat". I'm coming to realize that for most people the fatness really wasn't the problem, it's just the excuse... So when the fatness is going and the feelings remain the same I think it can be easy to emotionally spiral. The small things are imperative with depression/anxiety- create a routine, eat regularly balanced meals, sleep hygiene, excersise and see the sun daily, talk to a qualified therapist- learn to identify and challenge negative thoughts and behaviors. Be proud of yourself, you have chosen to give yourself the gift of health, keep choosing yourself and speak to yourself kindly.

Hi, I also had balloon around 18months ago.. Had it in for 6 months. Severe nausea for 3 days then it was great. I lost only 12kg all up.. (All in the first 3months). Then I rapidly put on 7kg when balloon came out.. I was hungry like I'd never been in my whole life. I got the sleeve in October and it has been by far the best decision I've made. Be very careful when that balloon comes out!

1. I haven't noticed a change in the relationship. 2. I only told a few select people, everyone thinks I'm doing paleo diet and stopped drinking (which I kinda am). I've been a yoyo dieter for many years, so people are used to me loosing/ gaining.. But this time there will be no rebound weight gain 3. Skin is ok so far, arms are not great... But I am loosing slowly. If my boobs sag and my skin becomes problematic I plan to get plastic surgery 4. I've only just started noticing hair loss at 4months, it's not much yet.. I don't have much hair so I hope it doesn't continue.. Again I'm loosing slowly so I hope I avoid this 5. I'm a nurse, I returned after 4 weeks.. I had to be careful with lifting but otherwise my energy was good.. I went back 3 days a week for first 2weeks back. 6.worst part was my 3 week purée phase.. Just wanted to crunch on some real food. I had minimal pain/ discomfort. My nausea in first 48hrs post op was epic but quickly forgotten with all the positives from the weight loss. My weight loss is slow 1-2pd per week, but I have never stalled and my energy has been good.. I think your attitude is very important to keep in check.. You have to follow the rules and put trust in the professionals and your body... We abuse our body's for so long pre op but now is the time to be kind and gentle and trust your body.

Wondering if anyone had their surgery and never got a barroom swallow or some type of radiology after surgery.

Nope, my surgeon doesn't do them either. -
Physical jobs and time off

I'm a nurse, I went back to work after 4 weeks... But had to be careful lifting anything. Other than the lifting, I felt great and could have gone back earlier. -
Questions for Alcohol Drinkers ONLY!
meatpie replied to Cape Crooner's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
3 months No No No I found that my favorite red wine tastes like vinegar initially and anything sugary was overwhelming. So I guess my tastebuds changed. That's ok, I only needed 1/4 of what I would have usually drank to get a happy buzz. -
At what point did you begin using straws again?!
meatpie replied to cal2okl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Used from day 1... Was just careful not to suck air in. I would have struggled to get fluid in if it wasn't for staws. -
Slow weight loss after the sleeve
meatpie replied to new_bella's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am slow too, week 12 and down 28 pounds.. Much slower than other people but I KNOW there is no way I could have lost that weight otherwise-(I tried!).. So .. I am happy with my slow and steady loss. 1-2pounds a week is ok with me, I haven't lost any hair yet and my skin will hopefully bounce back better. Don't compare yourself, take a deep breath and just have confidence in yourself and your program to succeed. -
The One Thing No One Tells You About Losing Weight
meatpie replied to WL WARRIOR's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Cosmetic injectables (fillers) are useful to plump the skin out in your face to help with lost volume.. Especially in the cheeks and nasolabial folds - ( ) -
I had 1 week of full fluids then 3 weeks of purée, then soft food 2 weeks.

Please share your 1-3 month losses
meatpie replied to MsCyrus's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
SW 220 10/19/15 (no preop diet) CW 197- 7 weeks on My losses are slow, but very steady and have not had a stall YET. -
Thank you sparkle time for this graph! I have been feeling confused as I have lost 20pound at the 6 week mark (no stalls just slow and steady losses).. And some people who have lost much more than me are upset at their loss.. This graph indicates I am exactly where I'm expected to be (as the nut & surgeon told me). Start weight was 220- BMI 33

I'm sleeved, and I dump. Yup it's true!
meatpie replied to bellabloom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 6 weeks since VSG and I dump too.. Anything overly fatty or sugar have me feeling immediately nauseated then 1 HR later I'm on the loo.
