How much how fast did you loose after bypass?
teacherstrube replied to Soexcited's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Tglastchance, I took 3 weeks off but when I went back I struggled a lot for about 3 more weeks. I went home early at least 4 or 5 times during those weeks. It really varies from person to person though. -
Those were all of my selfish reasons for wanting the surgery but I had major health problems that finally pushed me to get it. I love being able to buy cute clothes and get cute bathing suits. I feel so healthy more than I feel skinny. I have more energy and it has been great for my libido. Husband is thrilled (sorry TMI

How much how fast did you loose after bypass?

I have to agree with everyone...there are many factors in weight loss. I have been very lucky. I had surgery 11/06/2015. I am 5'8". My heaviest weight was 278. I lost about 20 lbs on my own during my six month supervised diet and about 12 lbs on my liver shrink prep diet. Day of surgery I was like 245. I am currently at 185. My goal weight is 165 so I am very close. I am a teacher so I am on my feet all -
First let me say that i have been reading these forums for months but have never commented before. Many of your stories kept me sane because I know others are going through the same things I am right now. Yesterday I finally reached it. Beginning at 275lbs in February 2015, surgery date Nov 6 2015 (SW 255), I am now 199.1. I haven't been under 200 lbs in so long. I just had to share the news with those of you who really understand my struggle.

Need to talk to ten post operative people as part of Dr's pre-op requirments
teacherstrube replied to chadhcanterbury's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Chad, I am a 36 year old female and I had RNY on 11/06/15. I am 5'8" and my starting weight was 275. I chose this surgery because I had such severe sleep apnea. I struggled for a few weeks after surgery especially trying to sleep. I now weigh 196 lbs almost 3 months out. I do not use a CPAP machine anymore. My goal was simply for the sleep apnea to go into remission so all of the weight loss is a wonderful bonus. -
Does anyone have any suggestions for lunch at work each day? To keep it in context, I am a school teacher and only have 25 minutes for lunch. As soon as my lunch ends my next class begins. I need something that I can eat in that time frame that doesn't make me feel too full. My NUT suggests a protein shake but I can't stand them. Feels like drinking pudding. What are you guys eating at work?

Food at work?
teacherstrube replied to teacherstrube's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for the ideas. I am also 3 months out. I have tried tuna. Did you have a problem with the flavored tuna in oil? I have avoided it because of the oil. -

The post op return to work
teacherstrube replied to nurse247's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took off three weeks. I am a middle school teacher so I worried about leaving my student for so long. After I went back I struggled for weeks and missed multiple days each week due to terrible fatigue or dehydration. I think it really depends on the physical demands of your job. -
Are you COLDER after surgery?

Yes...my whole life I was always hot. Now I am freezing hands and feet especially. I have layers of blankets on my bed and bought a winter coat this year -
Calories a day
teacherstrube replied to christinamejia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is really all about the protein. I concentrate on getting as close to the 60g of protein as I can each day and continue to drink lots of water. My guess on my calories is about 400-600 per day right now -
Taking time off questions
teacherstrube replied to lovelylala's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had the same 24 week time frame for managed weight loss. I am a school teacher so I like you knew I would need at least three weeks off because it's a demanding job. When I started my 24 weeks I told my boss. I updated him thought that time and then as soon as I knew a surgery date I told him. I took Fmla leave so that the school could bring in a certified teacher (retired teacher) and pay her a good salary instead of substitute pay. My boss was much happier because he was well informed the entire process. I have 8 weeks of sick leave pay so I just used that for my 3 weeks off. I go back to work Monday.
