My port flipped - I didn't feel any pain and didn't know there was a problem until I went to get my first fill. I had to have surgery to correct it. Wasn't too bad. I had the surgery a week ago.
-
I went in for a fill and found out that my port had flipped. This thread has really eased my mind about my appointment on tuesday. Although this morning I bent over and felt it move and its been hurting some all day. I'm wondering if it flipped back or worse case flipped around the opposite way again.
-
So I went to get my first fill today just to find out my port is flipped. I was pretty disappointed. The Physician's Assistant said I have to go back to the surgeon and get it flipped back to the correct position. My questions are: Has anyone else had this happen? Is it fairly common? Does it hurt when they flip it back? Because they re-open your incision is it a hard recovery? Just really nervous and looking for some information! :tt1:

Flipped Port
TheYear of Me replied to TheYear of Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never felt anything weird at all. They asked me if I'd lifted anything really heavy or pulled on anything heavy. I hadn't. I had no clue anything was wrong until they x-rayed. The PA didn't realize it either until she couldn't find the center of the port. She had felt around before starting that and didn't notice. -
Hi all, My surgery on the 9th went very well. I remember little of it actually! I think my favorite memory will be when they went to the waiting room while I was in recovery and told them only one person could come back and listen to the instructions and the care I was going to need and it needed to be the person who was going to take care of me. My 17 year old daughter jumped up and said I'm taking care of my mom. I remember coming to and watching/listening to her listen intently to the nurse and then ask such mature questions. She did an outstanding job taking care of me. I felt blessed. She is just very supportive and my biggest chearleader.

I'm going tomorrow! I want to wish all my fellow June 9th friends good luck and best wishes! It's so good to know that tomorrow there will be so many others going through what I'm going through!

Lap Band Surgery Shopping List
TheYear of Me replied to Little Debbie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks so much for that list! I was about to head to Walmart and get what I thought I'd need but I stopped by the computer to jump on and see if I could read some and get a general idea. Your list is exactly what I was looking for! My date is tomorrow and I am so excited and ready to do it! -
I have 3 days after today to go to the surgery!! I am ready. I think I am much more ready than the people around me are ready for me to have the surgery :crying: I have done well on my pre-op diet. I haven't cheated on it - I figured if I don't have the will power to be successful on this then I probably won't have the will power to be successful after the surger so I might as well suck it up and do it right! I'm ready, nervous and excited at the same time!!

Hi Dee, I just finished my six months wait with BCBS and I went through True Results and I have to have my surgery in Decatur too! At first it seemed like the six months was going to take forever but I realized that it gave me time to prepare myself by doing more reading and researching about the lapband. I had to meet with the psych person at True Results and he gave me the name of a book to read and it was helpful too. I am having surgery one week from today and am excited. I am waiting for the hospital to call me. They called Friday and pre-admitted me and now I'm just waiting to find out the time. You might want to check to see if the surgeon you chose to use from True Results is approved by BCBS. The one I had chosen was out of my network and I didn't know that until my insurance approval was submitted. I had a great experience with True Results and I hope you do too!

The hospital called today and did my registration by phone! I've been pre-admitted. One more thing to make a checkmark by. I go on the pre-op diet in 3 days. I'm ready - ready to get it done. I do think its weird that my appointments were in Richardson, my surgeon is in Hurst and the hospital is in Decatur. All of which is at least a 2 hour drive for me. But it will be worth it.

Today was a great day! My lapband place called and told me congrats my insurance approved the surgery! They are going to call me again in two days to schedule the surgery date and my appointment for the pre-op diet. I'm one step closer then I was yesterday! Seems like its taken so long to get through those six months of appointments I was struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel and now I have a glimpse. Hayley :biggrin2:

My lap band scheduled for May 14th
TheYear of Me replied to Bill-D's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck tomorrow! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers! -
Has anyone read the book: The Emotional First Aid + Kit: A Practical Guide To Life After Bariatric Surgery It was suggested to me and I am thinking of ordering it. I'm just trying to be as prepared as I possibly can be before being banded in May. Looking for anyway to prepare myself so I can try to be as successful as possible! Hope all is well with everyone

Hi, I'm in the Dallas area but my dad is getting lapband too and he is in Mt. Pleasant and is looking for a support group. What day of the month, time and location do you meet?
-
Hi, I started going through the six months process in November for my insurance to approve and I am anticipating surgery in May. I am excited by all the support I see here. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can before the surgery.

Hello, Newbie from Tx
TheYear of Me replied to Pipa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I started the process in November. I should be eligible with my insurance approval to have the surgery at the beginning of May. I'm excited and I am encouraged by the support I see here. I'm in Texas outside of Dallas a little ways.
