December 2015 Packing Lists

Yes and baby wipes for the hospital!! They come in handy for a fresh feeling after having volcanic eruptions and expelling of gas from your rear end. Never trust a fart to be just a fart. -

I needed that chap stick most, lol. I found for dry mouth the day after surgery, I just rinsed my mouth with normal water to get rid of yucky taste and to have a moist sensation. -

@@Kirsty, 2 weeks seem short to me too, and I will take more time if I have to. I am a massage therapist and have a feeling that returning to work after two weeks might be a stretch. However my surgeon feels that it is totally doable. We shall see. -
December 2015 Surgery Dates - Gastric Bypass (RNY)

Hey! I use SparkPeople.com. Did you find something to use yet? @@Kirsty, thank you, I am using Fitness Pal and it works for me, except the water tracking. -
I honestly was going to ask about that too. I am only 6 days post-op and thought that it is still from surgery. In my 2 mandatory liquid weeks I have to hit 60-80 g of protein and stay below 50 g of carbs. That means I am only eating about 500 calories a day and no caffeine either. I have a blood pressure cuff at home and although I was on blood pressure medicine before I haven't taken it again after surgery as my blood pressure is around 110/65. I am pleased about this but also worried that I might not be able to return to work if I feel light-headed. Sometimes I think a caffeinated tea or coffee could just do the trick, but I am so afraid to fear off my surgeons protocol. Let us know what the doc says about this please and good luck.

Instragram and "coming out of the closet"
cocoa8utter replied to Cervidae's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Will join you on Instagram! I am still shy to share with friends about my endeavor simply because I fear that some might want to "rain on my parade" for whatever reason. I am looking forward to a positive support system online! Merry Christmas! -
Hello Ashley, I had surgery the same day. I am off my pain meds at home, I took only one dose. I have been walking and resting. How long do you have to do the spirometer for? I am eating a full liquid diet until 2 weeks post-op. I am doing best with yogurt, protein added cream soups and premier protein shakes. I love decaf tea, and sugar free tropical Popsicles. I feel mainly tired and I do fine with portion that are 6oz. Looking forward to our journeys together.

I am 5 days post-op and have not had problems with constipation yet. For 2 days after surgery I was on clear liquids, now until 13 days after surgery I am on full liquids, yoghurt and protein shakes, protein enriched cream soups. Vitamins etc start tomorrow. It makes sense to take probiotics after every we go through with our surgery, whole Foods sell a little drink called the "good Belly" I wonder how f that would be okay for us to take.

I have not had that experience with vomiting, sorry to hear you had to experience this. I am two day out from surgery and still on clear liquids. I will be released tomorrow.

I have the pre-op jitters too and my RNY is scheduled for 12/21. Once you are this close to surgery it is normal to doubt yourself I think, but trust in you that if you didn't really wanted this surgery you would have not stuck through the long process to get even this far. Keep the eyes on the prize of a healthier and happier YOU! Good luck with your surgery!! -

I love the Decembelles! I am following the blog and reading every word, dear Kirsty! Thank you for sharing. I live in the Miami, Florida area and my surgery is with Dr. Brett Cohen on December 21. Will start my pre-op diet this Monday. My shipment of Opurity vitamins arrived in the mail today. I took 2 weeks off from work, a little scared because my job is physical: I am a massage therapist. So proud of all postop Decembelles and good luck to all prep ones!! -

I am still trying to navigate this platform. It's not easy to simply reply to a post, is it? I ordered my bariatric vitamins and protein from unjury.com I find it hard to contain myself with eating right now, this mindset of "just one last pizza", "just my last chicken wings" etc is so stupid, can't wait for my pre-op diet to start. -
