Did anyone go to surgery alone.
Author Andrea replied to cookies_queen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my son go with me, 21. BEST DECISION I MADE. You will need someone to speak up for you, to call nurse, etc. So if you can, take your son and tell him to be assertive when calling the nurses and take note when doctor visits. My suggestion, have someone with you -
Smells will be the end of me!
Author Andrea replied to mcp_vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm ending week 3 and although the it doesn't happen as much, I do smell things on a level of...when I 1st came home, my son bought home Wendy's and the smell of that meat made me want to barf bcuz it was so strong. Now, etc d of wk 3, I still smell things on and off but haven't really felt sick. I only felt sick last night when someone ordered bbq pork sandwich. Otherwise, not so much. -

I need food! 7 days post op
Author Andrea replied to scarlep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The goal of liquids for at least a week & then straind, to mushy/soft then...is because your stomach has to heal, also, if you eat solids too soon it hurts like hell. Not sure why your Dr is only giving 2 days. But by day 2 or 3 liquid still hurt going down. I do however question not having mushy at day 10 if not 8. Since it made me have cravings to a point of not caring. I wonder if at some point they will find it better to bring mushy foods sooner with choices of healthy food, as so many people cheating could be the result of the body in a sorts of shock with only liquids. -

I was told if we get the protein and we would not get hungry and so today I got a nice amount of protein in. I was a little hungry But not like before. I think it was more of a normal hunger and so when I ate some oatmeal just now I'm satisfied but a normal satisfied. Not the type of satisfied where I want to pinch off someone's plate, lol. -
Are you getting Protein? There are protein shakes that are clear. Isopure zero carb, nectar, unjury, etc..... If you are not getting protein, you will feel hungry, heal slower, and possibly your body will go into starvation mode and lower your metabolism. I'm going to put forth 300% effort to do it all Especially the 30-40gram of protein. I really want to defuse the hunger issue so I'm going to try to get all the protein in. Thanks & hope it helps as the hunger pains mk me naughty to the pinch

I also had surgery 11/18/15 and my list says week 1 & 2 liquids & work your way to yogurt & oatmeal. Week 3 & 4 eggs, tuna, soft flaky fish, mashed & gravey, soft veggies & other software foods. Week 5, have 3 full meals & 2 Protein Snacks. But I'm noticing some ppl eating soft foods like eggs week 2 instead of wk 3.

I need to fly out of state on business. The flight is 1 hr, 1 stop over for an hour & half & then fly again for an hour. I've read 1 post online where someone's doctor just gave them a shot of lovenox the day of the flight & for the return. I'm wondering though if anyone has any knowledge or experience in this area?

Any bad experiences ? by not taking vitamins/protein drink
Author Andrea replied to shirleyjohn001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any particular multivitamin we should take? I was given a lot of information but not a lot of detailed information about how many milligrams of different vitamins I should take. I only know that I should make my way to 60 protein. But what about the other vitamins and minerals how much of each? -

I guess I question why it's a big deal with exception to your stomach healing. What little we can take in isn't nearly as much as previously. -
Also, anyone know about how soon I can fly? Nxt wk I'm scheduled, Will be week 3. Should I take a lovenox shot and how many hours before?

My Dr said I can have oatmeal & yogurt. I made oatmeal, almost soupy & I ate with a baby spoon. I was content for a good whole. Need a good protein tho that won't leave a chalky taste...one that can go in soup & shakes etc. -
