Pcos, metformin use after being sleeved
LMSWNYC replied to LMSWNYC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lema - I can understand you perfectly! Wow, 6 languages! That's impressive! I would recommend informing your doctors that you are taking metformin. I email my surgeon and nutritionist about any changes in medication and have found this helpful. You want to make sure you follow the guidelines to avoid any complications down the road. As per your stall this is completly normal. I dropped a total of 5 pounds after my period ended. Just follow your plan and you will be fine. Believe me you will notice a difference when your cycle ends. -
Pcos, metformin use after being sleeved

Steph do you find that using metformin has helped you lose more weight since surgery ? I know for those of us with pcos and insulin resistance our weight loss is slower than other patients without this diagnosis. -
Pcos, metformin use after being sleeved

Lema - did your doctor recommend you take metformin at 7 weeks out? Im not sure if this might be too soon as metformin tends to upset your stomach after progressive use. -
Pcos, metformin use after being sleeved
LMSWNYC replied to LMSWNYC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I spoke to My surgeon since this post and he recommended I give my body more time to adjust before taking any medication. He said it may take 6-12 months to see the positive effects of the surgery on my cycles. He said i may not need to take anything but it is too soon to tell. I am scheduled to see my gyn in august so I am hoping i have more information to report back. My last period last a total of 15 days! ???? It has been exhausting ! My calorie range is anywhere inbetween 900 a1200 calories and having my period for so long is completely draining. So I am crossing my fingers that with time my symptoms improve. I will keep you posted. -
You look amazing! I commend you on your effort.

I had 2 teaspoons of cake today and feel so guilty. I noticed after the second spoon it was just too sweet for me. I felt like if i had anymore it would come right up. I dont want to fall back into bad habits. I really need to stay clear of these foods. I am 3 months out and I am starting to crave sugar from time to time. Any suggestions?

Cake after being sleeved
LMSWNYC replied to LMSWNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tonetone I was not diabetic before surgery but I was diagnosed with insulin resistance and pcos. Therefore, I really should stay away from all processed foods. I am reading a pound of cure by Dr. Weiner, which explains well how processed foods impact our natural weight regulating thermostat. I had surgery to change my life for the better. I realize This was just a slip and part of my journey. -

Camry are you drinking 48-64 ounces of water? This will help move this along. Also try green tea.

Anyone not telling anyone about their surgery?
LMSWNYC replied to taramarie523's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Seagull my boss did the same and when I came back to work she wanted to know if I was going to tell people. When I told her no she responded everyone was going to notice when I lost 100 pounds quickly. I was so upset at her response. I told her first I have only lost 25 pounds since the surgery. Secondly it is no one business but my own. Third, if I decide to tell people that is up to me. I dont care what they assume. My private life is just that private. People at work do not need to know everything about me. It is none of their business. She then told me yes it is your business but people are going to notice. I wanted to strangle her. I said and if they notice i am losing weight and ask me I will tell them I am eating low carb and working out. If I decide to tell anyone it will be my decision not hers. Unbelievable! I am getting angry just thinking about it. Gosh! -
Anyone not telling anyone about their surgery?

I regret telling some people. I feel like I am constantly being monitored about how much I am losing or what I am eating. It is very frustrating. -

Ucla man - glad you got s new therapist. That was very unprofessional of your previous therapist. Unfortunately not everyone is understanding of this process. There is plenty of stigma surrounding it. -

You both inspire me! Beaitiful ! -
I am 11 weeks out and I also have gone up to 1100 calories a day. I have felt the same but realize that as long as I am not eating junk and what I am eating is protein or fiber then I am good. I make sure I am drinking 48-64 ounces of water and the next day i try mu best to stay within 800 to 900 calories. The scale is still moving. Slower than in the brginning but it is moving doen... 40 pounds down.

Sleeved in April anyone got exercise tips
LMSWNYC replied to possum83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Look into beach body workouts if you want to avoid an expensive gym membership. There are videos geared for men and women and different fitness goals. Also many of the are 90 day programs which give you a timeframe to see your progress. I have used chalene extreme, 21 day fix and body beast. They are all great programs. -
Does anybody else get tired!
LMSWNYC replied to scampbell33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have felt very tired since surgery and i am 12 weeks post op. For me it is less each day but When I feel very drained i try to knap especially on weekends. During the work week I go to bed early to avoid feeling too tired. My blood work indicated my iron is low and I am taking additional supplements to increase it. Our bodies are adjusting to all the changes and for some of us it takes a bit longer to feel 100% back to normal. This wont be forever. -
How many calories are you consuming daily?
LMSWNYC replied to xochtlem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
xochtlem try your best to drink 64 ounces of water a day. Up your fiber by drinking veggie smoothies like spinach, dash of ginger, 2 strawberries, half of a banana, mx all with water. This drink usually does the trick for me. Also, make sure you are resting 7-8 hours a day. Without enough rest I feel my body goes into a crisis state and wants to hold on to my fat. Stalls are normal, just keep consistent and you will see a change in the scale soon. -

Ryan that is awesome! You inspire me. How far out are you now, and what's your current intake? -
Make sure you are drinking 64 oz of water, and going to the bathroom daily. Follow your plan and you will get over the stall. It happens to all of us. Part of the process. But if you are consistent your body will eventually let go of weight. Hang in there!

Anyone not telling anyone about their surgery?
LMSWNYC replied to taramarie523's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Msujester I completely understand how you feel. My mom and great aunt did the same thing. I told them I did not want extended family to know and they have told everyone. Even people I only see about once a year. I confronted them about it and they claimed they did not know I would be offended since they just told family. Now every time I see a family member that is all they want to know. I feel constantly monitored every where I go. Luckily I did not tell people at work so they dont ask me anything about surgery. Yet, they have noticed my weight loss and I know they speculate but I dont have to explain myself to them. -
