Chewable vitamins feedback?
aaonthego replied to Indigobunny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If possible, get samples or the smallest possible unit of several brands. I never had issues with sublingual B-12. But on the other vitamins, I stocked up on Barimelts brand and started taking them when I was cleared to start taking vitamins (~1 month po stop). Lo and behold, they make me nauseous! I recently found a multivitamin and vitamin D/iron patch that I started this week because I couldn't handle the vitamin induced nausea anymore. -
aaonthego started following 4 weeks out, will any multi Vitamin due ?, Chewable vitamins feedback?, Vomiting? and and 7 others

It could be anything from the size of the bites you are taking, how well or not you are chewing, type of food you are eating (my program has me staying away from raw leafy greens till month three), if the meat was moist enough, or maybe your stomach just needs a bit more time to receive a certain food that you are.

Puréed stage diet question/help
aaonthego replied to TodayItEnds's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Refried beans, chili and Greek yogurt - all with added unflavored protein powder were my go-tos when I first started the purée phase. -

Late in the day on day 3 was my turning point for the better. Hang in there! -

Post op day two, help
aaonthego replied to jessmarie0122's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jessmarie0102 - except for the period part, you are describing my first two day post op. If it helps, my turning point (for the better) was late on day 3. -
Good luck!

What are the differences for a cash-pay patient?
aaonthego replied to Phynale's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was self pay in Cincinnati. $14,700. No complication insurance included but like the previous poster, I prayed about it and left it in Gods' hands. You might consider calling your insurance company up front and asking them if they cover complications from elective procedures not covered by insurance. I understand some plans do, but I chose not to involve my insurance company because I didn't want the added stress or nervousness if it wasn't a positive answer. -

Can you do this with vitamins?
aaonthego replied to NolaNola1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If ask the prescribing Doctor or pharmacist about the medications, especially anything that comes in a capsule or other type of extended release pill. The vitamins should be ok to blend as long as you plan to drink the shake/smoothie immediately and pay attention to absorption incompatibilities like not taking calcium and iron at the same time. -
4 weeks out, will any multi Vitamin due ?
aaonthego replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This close to being post op, I'm sticking with multivitamins and other vitamins specifically formulated for Bariatric patients - I'm using Barimelts which I purchased on Amazon. For the other vitamins I need to take (Iron, Calcium, B12, and D3), I'm also currently using Barimelts and Bariatric advantage brands - whichever is cheaper on Amazon that meet the dosage required by my surgeon. Best to talk to your nutritionist/surgeon or GP as they also need to accompany your blood work over the next few months to avoid deficiencies. -
How many days off work ?
aaonthego replied to Amayor85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My job is mostly desk work. I would have been fine going back after 1 week. I was out for 3 weeks because I had the time and needed to use it or risk losing it. If you have the time, I'd recommend 2 weeks. If you don't have much time off to take, you should be fine after ~1 week barring any complications. -

Is it really worth it?
aaonthego replied to BrightEyes42's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're the only one who can make this decision for yourself. But one more reference point here that it's totally worth it and I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. -
Pre op diet...3 weeks, WHAT?
aaonthego replied to tina74035's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The liquid diet is for your own good. I'm using the app and can't see your stats and also don't know what doctor/program you're with. But the way my surgeon and nutritionist explained it to me, they base the duration of the liquid diet on your pre-surgery BMI. <35 = 3 days. 35 - 40 = 1 week. 40 - 45 = 2 weeks. >45 = 3 weeks. Something along those lines. I was also a self pay patient and while I only had a 1 week liquid preop diet, it helped having my program explain the purpose and criteria for the diet. -
SO ANGRY I COULD SPIT FIRE!
aaonthego replied to animallover1247's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd suggest looking for a different surgeon/practice. If this is a preview of things to come, you're better off with the inconvenience of changing programs preop instead of later. -
I had something similar at about the same amount of time post op. According to my surgeon it's the stitches under the skin. The tenderness lasted a few days and then went away.
