Multivitamins Post-Sleeve
aaonthego replied to juju_91's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My program has me starting with only a 1000mcg dose of B-12 (sublingual) per day at one week post op. My doctor prefers that I wait till one month post op to start the others regardless of whether they are chewables or not. Ask your surgeon/nutritionist. -
I crushed my tablets for the first couple of days. But according to my surgeon, anything smaller than a regular m&m is ok to swallow. For my omeprazole prescription which is a capsule, I was told to open the capsule and sprinkle the contents on a tsp of applesauce. Not sure you can do that with all capsules if they are meant to be extended release, but worth asking your docs.

Does anyone else have problem with Dry Heaving?
aaonthego replied to mistylgould's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had this the first two days immediately after surgery. Mostly nothing would come up and sometimes a bit of spit. It stopped 2 days ago and hasn't happened since. I had prescription phenergan for nausea and levsin for stomach spasms. I stopped taking the nausea meds two days after surgery but still take the levsin and will probably take it for the full seven days it was prescribed. -

Denisa - try making your protein shakes with almond milk if you are sensitive to dairy. -
What are the first 4 days after surgery like? Any Dos and don’ts…..
aaonthego replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 days post op today. The first 2 days for me were filled with miserable nausea. I could barely keep down my medication and definitely couldn't (and still can't) hit my water or protein intake goals. I can get around the house okay and do a couple of hours of work and such via computer, but the recliner and heating pad are definitely still my 2 best friends. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend anyone trying to go back to work this quickly, but every one recovers differently. -

Hospital stay question
aaonthego replied to stepbill's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's so bizarre how much these procedures vary. I am scheduled for surgery next friday, and it's an outpatient procedure. Going home the same day. -
Are protein shakes and protein juices the same?
aaonthego replied to HeatherB911's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Beverly International Ultimate Muscle Protein aka UMP is hands down the best tasting protein powder of all the brands I've tried. They are expensive but in my opinion - worth it. -

@@Smye - Hi. What is the purpose of the collagen that you mentioned? -
I'm scheduled for the 11th and will start my pre-op diet this Friday. Any tips from those who have done/are doing theirs would be much appreciated.

Long Week Prior To Surgery The Following Week
aaonthego replied to NewLeaf15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you Newleaf15! I am scheduled for December 11th, so I completely understand your anxiety. I managed to get all the appointments on the same day which will be on the 4th for me. That's also when I will start my 1 week pre-op diet. To manage the anxiety, I'm focusing my energy the next couple of weeks on preparing my apt and myself in general for the procedure and afterwards (ex. Ordering items online, and making sure I have all the vitamins and other items that I've read on the forums that will come in handy post-op).
