  4. It has been one hell of a ride, trying to get this authorization approved!!! Thank god for the insurance coordinator at my surgeons office. She worked her ass off to get this approved. It was denied so many times for BS reasons and this was our last chance before I had to personally appeal with my insurance.problem with that? My surgery is on Thursday. I almost gave up and ate food this past weekend since I didn't expect it to be approved. Thank god for my mom, she talked me off the ledge. Wake up this morning to a call from the insurance coordinator and ITS APPROVED!!!!!! I go for my pre admission testing first thing in the morning and Thursday I finally start my journey with my new stomach! I'm down 15 lbs from the pre op diet and I was devastated that it wAs all going to end because my insurance were being disgusting. I am so happy I could cry !!!!! So Thursday is my dayy!! Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!

    Lap band vs Sleeve? HELP!

Don't worry about your age girly !! I'm 28 and 225 ( after losing 15 on the pre op diet) I am going in for the sleeve on Thursday. I just liked the idea of the sleeve better than the band. The idea of foreign objects being inside of me just didn't sit well, but as it has been said before it's ultimately your choice! Good luck with everything !

I am quite aware people go to mexico every year to get this surgery done. And that surgery still costs more than my OOP. There are many sides to things and you don't know my whole life story. So to insinuate that because I can't afford it next year that I'm not committed is rude and unnecessary. If you need to know I am on disability right now due to having a revision of my cervical fusion . So I cannot work and I don't get paid my full paycheck being on disability with my job. I am on my last legs with my job since they want me back to work and I can't being I am in a neck brace and can't move my neck. I am STILL paying off a medical bill from January which applied to my OOP because I had a lot of problems due to my neck before we found out the issues. I am getting married in October out of the country so I need to pay for a destination wedding. I could ask my parents for the money but I am 28 years old and I am trying to be an adult, and this was just rude. You do not know my story or why I wouldn't be able to afford. I commend anyone who does self pay. But I myself cannot when I am going to be starting a new life with someone. Thanks for your input.

According to my insurance that they didn't get any of the needed information. Like pcp approval, nutritionist visits, and whatever else I forget but my surgeons office said they sent everything in. So I am just so confused and upset.
  8. It's actually not as hard as j expected it to be. Honestly. I am hungry but I'm head hungry. I see something that looks good or I smell something and I want it but think of it like this. You can always do something for a short period of time.
  9. So my insurance has had my auth info since the Tuesday before thanksgiving. Obviously they were closed thanksgiving day and the day after. so all last week I called for an update bc I was scheduled to start my liquid diet this past Thursday. Every day I was told to call back the next day and the next, by Friday I snapped. I started the liquid diet anyway so I won't have to push my date back just in case it takes awhile for approval. My out of pocket max is met for the year so as long as I get it done before Jan 1 I am covered 100% and I don't want to cut any closer than December 17th. If I call tomorrow and there still isn't an answer it is going to be hell for them. I am grumpy as it is because I miss solid food and I have no idea if I am doing this for no reason or not. Sorry I needed to vent Also, did any of you get light headed and have headaches the first couple of days of your liquid diet. My head has been pounding, and coincidently I just had neck surgery to fix and issue that was causing headaches so I just want to make sure it's the diet and not and Issue with the other surgery!
  10. As long as there is someone there to bring you home they shouldn't have an issue with it. Honestly, after my recent neck surgery I made my mom and fiancé go back to the hotel (my surgery was out of the area) I just wanted to sleep. The nursing staff wil keep an eye on you and just let them know you are by yourself and I'm sure they will step up their game even more

    Post surgery Upper GI

That's a good question. I feel like my doctor said he would do a scope (upper gi) to check for leaks. That or imaging but I can't imagine imaging would show a leak. It's good that your doctor is being thorough though ❤️

    Protein Drink witch one

I have been drinking premier protein. They taste awful BUT have the most protein I have found in a drink. In 1 11oz bottle you get 30g and ideal is 60 to 80g a day. So I drink 2 a day so that gives me 60 and then eat yogurt or soup for any additional. I chase the drink with a sip of water to get the taste out of my mouth. But I would rather only have to drink 2 a day(I'll do 3 once after the surgery) then drink 5 or more with less protein. That's my suggestion hope it helps
  13. That is so awesome ! Congrats !! I started my liquid diet on Thursday so I actually took my unflattering pictures the day before, and weighed myself and measured!! I am going to do that every week to see the progression !!
  14. I started my liquid diet today. I am drinking premier protein and I think I'm going to hurl every time I take a drink. I'm chasing it with water, and in so hungryyyyyyy. Anyone have suggestions??

    Started the liquid diet

Thank you everyone for your advice !! I'm trying to get as much protein in as I can so that's why I chose the premiere. After this second drink and my yogurt I'll be at 75g for the day. Then I'll snack on soup or something. I appreciate all the advice and support !

    Started the liquid diet

I'm allowed the jello and Popsicles and cream soups and yogurt but I need to make sure I get my protein in so I wanted to start my dAy off with a shake and it is just sooooooo gross
  17. I was looking in on the post op forum and I got this idea from them. They were all saying what they were excited/happy about since having the surgery. I'm curious what are you looking forward to being able to do or see in yourself. Me? I can't wait to see my collar bones again, to be able to cross my legs like a woman and to be able to sit with my knees to my chest. What about you??

    Any December Sleever's?

I should have my answer on my pre auth tomorrow, and start my liquid diet on Thursday !!!!!! Fingers crossed it all goes through !! Dec 17th is sooo close!!
  19. Idk what state you're in but Cigna offers individual plans(private) through a bunch of states and they offer bariatric for their employees (I work for them) so I would assume they would have plans that cover it privately as well
  20. I am having my surgery at WBG. How was it there. Since the Scranton hospitals suck and my surgeon has privileges at regional and WBG, I chose there. How was the care?
  21. I just had a spinal fusion done at Jefferson on 10/22. I can honestly say they were THE BEST hospital I have ever been to. They were so amazing in taking care of me. We weren't from the area so my mom and fiancé were staying at a hotel while I was there for 2 days and my mom is a freak when it comes to making sure I'm taking care of in a hospital so she usually doesn't leave my side but she was comfortable enough to do so there. They were the nicest staff and truly cared abut their patients. If anyone has the opportunity to have a surgery there. I would recommend it.
  22. Scranton/wilkesbarre area here !

    Fun thread !

There are just so many things to be excited and thankful for ❤️❤️ i can't wait to start seeing results after the surgery !!! I commend all of you looking to do marathon type runs !! I would love to do them. Unfortunately due to my cervical spine being fused for a second time last month there will be no running or strenuous workout in my future but I can be thankful for my mom and dad buying me a treadmill for Christmas so I can make sure I do my walking especially during the winter months !!
