Wegovy vs bariatric surgery
ibedebi replied to Adipocyte Apoptosis's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had GS surgery in 2016 and lost 70lbs. Once I reached my final plateau at 165lbs, I gained back 10lbs and have stayed there for the past 8 years. The issue with surgery is that it's good for the first couple of years until your stomach adjusts, then the more you eat, the more it stretches. I'm an over-eater, so when I eat more than my stomach can handle, it comes back up. I can usually feel it when it reaches my esophagus and by that point, it has to come up. It's not vomiting, just spitting back out undigested food. Within the past month, I've put on 10lbs. Mostly stress related and lack of exercise. I've thought of taking Wegovy to get a jump start, but doubt my doctor will prescribe it. I just need to get back on track. So for those of you who think the sleeve is a tool that will last forever, your stomach will eventually stretch, and when you continue to allow it to stretch, you will be right back where you started. I just ate 2 eggs and sausage. That's about 80% more than I used to be able to eat. Just beware that if you don't manage your eating, no medication or surgery is going to work. -
Type 1 or Type 2? I'm Type 1. Still on insulin. Will always be on insulin.

Try Core Power. Tastes like a real milkshake.

I'm a T1D of 40 years on an insulin pump, and about to have the VSG procedure in about a month. I would like some feedback from those with T1D who have had the procedure, and if there were any complications from the diabetes, as well as blood sugar control. If you are/were on the pump, how did you manage it?

Infused water is awesome and a lifesaver for me. Core Power shakes are pretty good. Not heavy. Unjury makes a chicken soup flavored protein powder that I mix with Chicken broth. Very tasty.

I've had a couple of skinny margaritas. Definitely felt the alcohol burn going down. Don't think an occasional drink is going to cause you to lose control of your diet. I'm 8 weeks out btw.

Try Core Power. Its lactose free and not as heavy as some of the others.

I need to know it gets better!
ibedebi replied to Rvamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 weeks post-op and I'm starting to question my choice to have the surgery. I can't tolerate Protein drinks or anything sweet. I can only get in 3 bites of food in before I feel nauseous every, so it makes me not want to eat. I have no energy and want to sleep all the time. I used to be outgoing and now my demeanor is very low key. Please tell me when it will get better. :- ( -
I'd like a link. Sleeved 4/11.

I'm in Mansfield.

Stay strong until you're back on your feet after surgery, then leave his ass.

When are you able to start running?
ibedebi replied to InnerFitnessModel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
InnerFitnessModel - you sound just like me. I used to be a runner too, and can't wait to get back into it. My surgery is still a month away, but I would like to keep up on your progress. I know you're anxious, but a month does sound a little soon. Better ask your doc. ???? -
can you add multiple packets of protein powders to double or triple your protein in 1 drink?

Hello Fellow WLS Candidates and Alumni - This is my first post on BP. I am beginning my Pre-Op preparations for my surgery, which is scheduled for the end of March 2016. I am having a terrible time giving up diet sodas. That's my vice in the morning. It's something about feeling the tingling sensation of carbonation on my tongue that I crave. I'm attempting to start off with 1 diet coke in the morning, then drinking iced tea for the rest of the day. Let's just say, I haven't been very successful. Any suggestions on how to beat this? Is it possible that I won't crave carbonated drinks after my surgery? Thanks! ibedebi

T1D for 40 years. Pumper since 2004. I've been worried about controlling my sugars post-op. During the middle of the night, my go-to for lows has always been a Peanut Butter sandwich, and I'm usually scarfing it down. Now I'm concerned about what will happen now that I can't eat bread - or a whole sandwich. I'm usually half asleep and frantically trying to get my blood sugar back up. I went to my group class last Saturday, and it was suggested to eat honey or agave. I've tried the glucose tablets, but it doesn't seem quick enough for me. Are there any comments or suggestions on how to handle my dilemma?

I'm a T1 of 40 years. I'm going through the preliminary 3 month approval process. My BMI is a little over 35, so I'm trying to keep my weight steady until approval by my insurance. I've been mostly concerned about my sugars after surgery. My goto for lows, especially in the middle of the night, has been a peanut butter sandwich. I'm afraid it might be the death of me. I'm glad I found this group to share joy and commiserate with. ????

Anyone scheduled for March?
ibedebi replied to AmyQwith2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm scheduled for late March, pending approval from my insurance. Just trying to get all of the prerequisites done and work on the new lifestyle transition. I'm addicted to Diet Cokes. Giving them up is going to be one of the hardest things to do. How are you doing in working on the transition? -
What's involved in the 3 month process?
