VSG In Tijuana, Mexico ANYONE?!
heajon replied to Cherrycupcake21's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went Nov28 last year. It was seamless! I am down 40lbs. They picked me up at the airport and provided all transportation. I went alone and while that made me a little nervous I didn't mind it at all once I got there. I slept a lot after surgery when I wasn't up walking the halls. If I had someone with me They would have been bored! I work in a hospital and their methods and handoff procedures are what we do here. The "hospital" was more of a dedicated surgery center but the care was great. The after stay in the hotel was fine too. Room service would bring bottled Water, Popsicles, and broth when I called. It was all included in the surgery charges. I did tip them a dollar for delivery. The hotel was very nice. Everyone spoke good English. We went to an outpatient radiology clinic the day after surgery for an upper GI to check for leaks. They took you there and back as well. There were 3 ladies that all had surgery the same day as I did. We got to chat a bit when walking the halls and going to the tests so I didn't feel alone. They sent me home with starter meds, water and antacids. The TSA just scanned my larger liquids on the plane ride home. I felt safe and comfortable the whole time. Take ear plugs. Tijuana is a big loud city And they like to party! Lots of loud music everywhere at night it seemed! -

I went to Mexico. I went alone too. It was great. Half the price including airfare. Went back to work 10 days later. It was well worth the money! I work at a hospital and they did everything we do. Clean, nurse hand off's, frequent nurse checks. Quick response time to answer the bell. Everyone spoke good English. Oh and it took like two weeks to get everything arranged. I am healthy so I didn't need to do the sleep studies, psych visits, blood clot checks and other crud they make you do here in the states. I have face book messenger to talk to my dietician and her email and phone number as well.

Anyone else come home for surgery with diarrhea?
heajon replied to HopeandAgony's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 days post op. I started having diarrhea 2 days post op. I had my surgery in Mexico so that makes me nervous. The Dr told me to keep drinking take Imodium pills and drink pedialyte. Today she said start probiotics. If that doesn't help to go to the ER. I'm wondering how long to wait. I feel ok. I'm drinking quite a bit. I was supposed to start protein shakes today along with my clear liquids and jello. I think I'm following instructions properly. Don't want to get dehydrated. I work at our hospital in town and I didn't tell them I was having surgery. Just vacation. There are to many hoops to jump through. So I don't want to go in if I don't have to! -
I'm 44, I'm nervous too! I am divorced but my mom is not really on board with surgery. I love her but I have to do what is right for me. I don't feel free to express my fears. Because this kind of step is drastic. But I hAve tried for 36 years to lose the weight and keep it off by every method possible. This is the tool I want to get for myself so that in the long run I will be healthy! I just keep reminding myself that just because I feel a little uneasy, my choice is not a bad one. Good luck with your family!
