About freaking time!!!---first fill
JaxBandster replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jeanie, Have you contacted your doctor about this? I would do that, then I would go back on liquids for two or three days and see if you can get the stoma to heal. Everytime something gets stuck, the stoma gets irritated and swollen, then you really can't get anything down. So go back on liquids and call your doctor in the morning. You shouldn't be experiencing these types of issues. -
Awwwwwwwww <big hug!!!>

Thank you Lesly!!! Don't worry darlin, it will come off slowly but surely. There may even be a time when I stall and you catch up to me! I have been learning that weight loss is a funny thing. It's varies by individual and even varies for that individual. I have a tendency to loss about 10 lbs all at once and then will stall for two or three weeks before I suddenly cascade downward again. Others lose about a pound a week. So just keep at it. It will have. Maybe sooner, maybe later, but you WILL get there!

About freaking time!!!---first fill

I had some of that too. When I got my first fill a lot of fluid came out so he put extra band aids on the site so it wouldn't get on my clothes. He also said it was no big deal and I haven't noticed anything since then even after my second fill. When do you get your next one done? -
LOL, just going to have my fringed ones altered until I get closer to goal, then I will go out and buy some fancy leathers. Already been working on the sexy tops! I picked my chaps up from the alterations guys today and he has them fitting like a glove where they were REALLY baggy before. He did a great job and I'm loving the way they look! He had to have taken at least two inches off of each leg as baggy as they were! Did I mention that I love my band?????

Thanks! I'm definitely happy with my progress although sometimes it seems to go so slow. I seem to lose about 10 lbs all at once then I will plateau for a couple of weeks. It seems to happen in little sprints. As long as it keeps happening I can deal with it!

Can you make some for me too!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I'm going to have to learn how to make it myself huh? Chili is yummy.
-
ROFL you guys are funny!!!! Yes I'm enjoying my new figure! As of today I am officially down 50 lbs from my first pre-op appt and 57 from my highest. Can you say "Hell yeah????" Just been extremely busy trying to take care of taxes (both ours and the estate of my deceased MIL), trading stocks and doing research, taking care of the yard, riding my Harley, and ten million other things. How the heck did I ever get anything done when I had a job????? Right now I'm heading out on the bike to go pick up my chaps that I had to have taken in! Wooo Hoo!!! How is everyone doing? I'm going to try to do some catching up tonight. Oh and what is up with all the changes on the control panel? Or has it been that way all along and I just never discovered it? LOL

OMG Wendy's chili is to die for!!!!!!

Okay, what the hell, I disappear for a little while and they change everything!!!!!! I'm gonna have to learn this site all over again!

Hi guys! Just wondering how much restriction you were feeling with your first fill? I am still definitely getting hungry, but I'm filling up faster than I did before my fill. I had gotten pretty loose in the week prior. I will definitely be glad to get that second one since this first one was only a small one (2cc's).
-
I have become much more regular since I have lost so much weight. As an added bonus, if I have plateaued, I always begin to drop again once I get my visit. I'm almost beginning to look forward to them! LOL As an added NSV, today my 21 year old son was in the kitchen with me and I was standing with my side to him. He said, "Mom your front is becoming much more uniform" (his word for flat! LOL) Seems like I'm losing my tummy! My husband also mentioned recently that my boobs now stick out more than my stomach! Yeah!!!! :huh2:

I'm definitely a carb watcher (no more than 30 mg/day) The fat and calories I don't watch at all, but they seem to take care of themselves. Typical day B - If I have Breakfast I will usually have a Protein shake, or if I'm really hungry some scrambled eggs with cheese and a couple of strips of Jimmy Dean Maple bacon (yum) L - If I ate breakfast then I'll usually have a Protein Shake. If I didn't then I'll generally eat something like tuna salad, or string cheese wrapped in roast beef D - Always a meat with veggies and sometimes a small amount of rice or potatoes (always measured). Last night I had 3.7 ozs of BBQ chicken, 1/3 cup baked Beans and about 1/2 cup of salad. Night before was 6 oz of fresh yellowfin tuna steak (broiled with lemon and lime juice and lemon pepper seasoning) and five fresh brussell sprouts (steamed) If I do good on my carb counting during the day (didn't last night cause baked beans are loaded with carbs) I will have some sugar free pudding or Jello with cool whip on top (more yum LOL) I basically eat as much protein and veggies as I can and make sure I watch my carb intake. I eat pretty darn good!

I had a piece of roast beef wrapped around string cheese get stuck on me. Same situation, wasn't paying attention, took too big of a bite and didn't chew it well enough. Needless, to say I pay much more attention to what and how I'm eating now, especially after a fill as that changes everything and things that may have worked before the fill, may not work after. Important to remember, if you get stuck, do NOT try to wash it down with anything! It does not help and will probably just come back up on you. Also, if you have a major stick, do not eat anything else the rest of the day. Stick with liquids as the stuck food irritates the stoma and can cause temporary swelling. Keep pineapple juice or chewable papaya enzyme tablets on hand. Both aid in decomposition of food and help it get through the band. SIP the pineapple juice in very small amounts. Also, I have read where walking, stretching and/or bouncing will help the food get through.

Who is that girl? Is it really me?

Way to go!!! What a remarkable difference!!!! All your hard work is paying off. Keep up the great work! -
My daughter and I found something called Fuze at our local grocery store (Publix). There are several varieties but they have a few flavors under their Slenderize formula. There are two serving per bottle (18 oz), 5 to 10 calories per serving depending on which flavor you get, 2 to 4 carbs per serving. It also has supplements as follows: Chromium - 40 mcg A micronutrient known to improve the amount of energy you get from food Vitamin C - 135 mg An antioxidant essential for vision, growth and healthy skin Super Citrimax - 450 mg Help users maintain a normal appetite and increase energy in healthy individuals. Helps support a healthy metabolism L-Carnitine - 45 mg An amino acid which boosts energy All this and it actually tastes pretty good! They seem to have them on the end caps of your grocery store aisles. Look for them. Here's their website as well Welcome to Fuze Beverages: Refreshingly Smart

List your lapband confessions here.
JaxBandster replied to Gibson's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are you able to eat as much now as you were before being banded? Are you eating protein first, veggies second, and carbs last? Are you not drinking a half hour before and after your meals but still drinking a lot between meals? Just because you can eat a lot right now doesn't mean that you should. You will need to exercise some self-discipline right now until you start getting fills. You only need to do this for a few months and then it will get easier, maybe not even that long. Eat lots of protein. Back off on the carbs, they only make you hungrier. Write down a list of the reasons why you got the band. Make sure they are things you really want. Post them on your fridge. Then decide which you want more. What's on the list or what's in the fridge or the pantry. Then go eat some protein or drink some water. When do you get your first fill? -
Helloooooooo! Just checking in! It's been a while! Been busy riding, working on my bike, and general domesticity. Life with the lap band has been awesome! Absolutely no problems. Just had my second fill. I've lost 47 lbs since my initial pre-op visit and 54 lbs from my highest last October. 53 more to goal! The most amusing thing has been having to buy new jeans all the time. It's a good problem to have. I'm loving my Fat Bob and trying to figure out how to come up with all the money it's going to take to do everything I want to do to make her my own LOL The modifications are never done it seems! Glad to see that everyone is starting to get out and ride. I know it's been a long cold winter up north but it will warm up soon! Ride safe!
-
Congrats Shadow! I'm on a Harley forum and most every one up north has about had it with the cold and snow! Of course, they really don't like to hear about the weather we've been having down here in Florida. It's been raining most all weekend here though so they haven't felt quite as bad. LOL Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful again and I'm ready to ride!

How many calories do you eat on average?
JaxBandster replied to mllm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I average 750 a day. Dr says I'm right on target. -
Becca, I could have written your post myself! We are almost identical! Got my second fill today. It actually hurt just a little bit today, not bad, just like getting blood drawn. The doctor says I have a skinny scar and if he doesn't hit the scar just right (where it is numb) then it will hurt a bit. No biggie. I can't tell a whole lot of difference right now. A little hungry but I'm just on liquids right now and when I drank my shake this evening I felt nicely full. I have lost 52 lbs from my highest weight of 277 back in October and 45 lbs from my first appt with my surgeon so I'm pretty much at the halfway point. Becca, like you, I'm not doing any form of exercising right now; however, I am much more active and spending more time working in the yard and stuff. The doctor was very pleased with my progress and I'm pleased as well. We will see how this fill does!

I agree with you Molly, I have definitely had to WORK at this in order for it to work for me. It has not been easy, it has been just as difficult as any other diet I have ever been on. However!!!! This time, I have the band to help keep me in check and from falling off the wagon like I always did before. My band and I are partners. It definitely doesn't do ALL the work.

I had a "nice" little visit to the ER tonight
JaxBandster replied to jfran's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Jfran! Glad to hear that you are feeling better! I know that must have been very scary and unpleasant for you. For future reference, I hear that it is recommended to go back to liquids after you have a PB incident as the stoma gets irritated and swollen. That is probably why you had the problem with the Protein bar since those are very firm in consistency. I have also heard of people using small sips of pineapple juice or taking a dissolvable papaya enzyme tablet that helps digest the food in your pouch more quickly. Just a couple of tips in the event it ever happens again. I have also heard that being under stress can cause tightening of the stoma so something to keep in mind for future reference as well. So far I can eat scrambled eggs with absolutely no problem. I have my second fill tomorrow so I get to start experimenting with my food choices all over again. Sometimes you will be fine with a certain food up to a certain level of restriction and then suddenly you can't tolerate it anymore. I have also heard of people who even weeks after a fill will suddenly experience a problem with certain foods and then will be fine the next time they try them. We say that those people have fickle bands! LOL Hope this information helps you or anyone else!
