What kind of TV shows do you watch?

Definitely Idol (maybe we need to start an Idol thread! LOL). There are so many good contestants this year! Otherwise, Big Medicine, Dog Whisperer, CSI (Vegas and Miami), just started watching New Amsterdam last night, it's pretty good, I'm not big on reality TV other than Idol or TV series. I watch a LOT of football during the season, NASCAR, lots of documentaries and such.

    Where do you live?

I love Alaska. It's my favorite place in the world. Been there twice on business and am always awed by the beauty there. What do you do for work Leather?

    List your lapband confessions here.

Some do, some don't. I'm four weeks out and still have restriction. Some people never even need a fill. They get plenty of restriction from the band itself. If you are one of those that lose restriction early on, just try to eat as much Protein as you can and drink lots of fluids between meals. It will help with the hunger.

    List your lapband confessions here.

I really wish I HAD some confessions! Then I could explain why I'm plateaued! I did indulge somewhat today though. I went to Sonny's BBQ (one of my favorite binge and stuff yourself so full you can't move places) and order the LUNCH portion (something I've never done!) of pulled pork, with sides of sweet potato and baked beans. There was about 5 oz of pork which I drenched with mustard BBQ sauce and the potato was a small one. I didn't/couldn't finish all the meat and potato and barely touched my beans. Oh and I told them to hold the bread! I can definitely say the band works! I'm not eating nearly what I used to. I just wish it would result in losing weight. I've probably had more carbs today than I've had in a while (had a Carnation Instant Breakfast this morning). But other than that I've been true blue!

    PB-any experiences?

I had the same experience as GainesvilleGirl. Mine was a piece of string cheese rolled up with a slice of roast beef. I wasn't paying attention, took too big of a bite to begin with and then didn't chew properly. Next thing I knew I had major chest pain and it felt like it was going to try to come back up. I walked, and stretched. Then I made the fatal mistake of trying to wash it down. DO NOT DO THIS!!! It only made matters worse! It finally passed through with enough walking and stretching but you can bet I will pay much better attention to how big my bites are and how much I chew.

    4 Weeks Post-Op

Hi Gainesville! I'm pretty much in the same boat. Thursday will be four weeks for me. The pain from my surgery is all gone with the exception of some really bad discomfort when I burp; however, the doctors believe that is more from the hiatal hernia repair I had than the band. So far, my band and I are getting along fine. I also have restriction still (my doctor tested me when I went in on Monday about the other thing) and he said that he wouldn't give me a fill yet. My first fill is scheduled for next week so we will have to see how things change by then. I had one "stuck" incident so far. I took a bite of some string cheese rolled up in a slice of roast beef and wasn't really paying attention. Took too big of a bite to begin with and then didn't chew it like I should. Man oh man that is not a pleasant feeling. I walked and paced and stretched and thought it was going to come back up on me at a couple of points, but it eventually decided to go down. You can bet I pay more attention to how I eat now!

The doctor tested me to see if I needed a fill and would have probably given me one if I had needed it, but he said I still have good restriction! He said that he has some patients who have never had a fill and do fine with just the band in place. I have been on ibuprofen for a few days now trying to get the inflammation from my hiatal hernia down and I'm wondering if it does go down how that will affect my restriction. Guess I will find out eventually. Right now however, I really don't feel like I need a fill. I can eat a good amount of food, but not nearly what I used to eat. Still only getting about 700-800 calories a day and trying to figure out how to boost that number up without increasing my quantity or my daily carbs. It's such a balancing act!

Lois you work by The Rooster! LOL (Biker Bar) We hang out there fairly often. I live down at US 1 and 210 about 10 minutes south of where you are. I shop at the Bartram Publix and we eat at the Woody's in that shopping center at Phillips and St. Aug Road all the time! We are all very close.

    Banded Bikers II

We just had a cold front come through and it's going to be a bit chilly for several days but then it's supposed to warm up nicely and stay nice with the exception of next Tuesday. Otherwise, high's in the 70's and lows in the 50's. Can't ask for much better than that!! I'll definitely be in Daytona on Tuesday for the women's MDA ride lead by Karen Davidson. Then again the following Friday for our HOG chapter pin stop ride. Then probably again that Saturday to meet up with my ex-husband to show him my bike. Will probably get some other days in between. It's nice to only be about an hour away! Have fun!!! How long are you going to be here for?

Ive lost a leg and a brain what about you?

I've lost a two year old and a brain (the brain was questionable to begin with).

    Has anyone had sharp pains?

Just keep an eye on it. Lower right abdomen is where the appendix is. If you get a fever, go immediately to the hospital.

    Is it only me? Help!

Jennifer, I'm with you. I don't know why there is such discrepancy between docs either. I was on clear liquids for four days post-op, full liquids for four days, then mushies plus moist meats for a week after that, then onto regular food on day 16.

Caryn My doctor does fills four weeks post-op (thank goodness)!

Hi Lori!!! Good to have you back! I've been absent a little while myself! Just busy with life and such. I am basically all healed up and feeling completely back to normal with the exception of this annoying burping which is very uncomfortable feeling. My weight loss has completely stalled so that is frustrating as well. The scale pretty much stopped moving once I began transitioning back to real food. I'm not eating too much and in fact, may not be eating enough, but it's baffling to not be losing weight when only consuming 700-800 calories a day and 30 gms of carbs/day. Hopefully I'll start dropping again after I get my first fill on March 11th.

Hi Lois!!! I would just make absolutely sure that you already have a fill doctor set up before you get too far down the road. You don't want to have the band and not be able to use it properly. Also do some checking around in the states for doctor's who are offering specials on lap band surgery. You might even be able to find someone cheaper than going to Mexico. I know Dr. Cywes doesn't handle patients from Mexico either so you want to make sure you have everything in your favor. It's a big step! Congratulations!!!!

HarleyGirl, what do you do for Harley? It's my dream to work for them but in an office capacity as sales are commission only and I need a bit more stability than that.

    Gained 3lbs?!

Ruby, the only thing I can think of is sodium. Make sure that none of the things you are consuming contain a lot of sodium. Also carbs. Many Soups and other things are full of carbs. I also take a chewable fiber supplement. Also maybe try Milk of Magnesia?
