    G'day

Congratulations you will not know yourself in a few months. I am from Brisbane. My starting weight was 110kg now 88kg. I found it difficult in the first few weeks keeping to liquids and soft foods. I missed chewing I think. One mistake I made when I went onto a normal diet was to try and eat steak! Easier to eat mince! Also you might feel a little tired. I couldn't drink Water and still can't ( I used to drink it before the surgery) I now drink a litre of coconut water per day plus herbal teas to keep hydrated. I still have issues with portion sizes. If I eat out I no longer order a main I order an entree size as my main. Can't fit it in! So I tend to eat a little off my family's plates like I am a child.. Anyway, you will be fine and in a few months the operation will be so far behind you. At 8 months post I am very happy with my energy levels. It's just the exercising now..good luck with your op Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. So now I don't know what to eat my diet is not great. I drink coconut Water because I find water so difficult to swallow. I also only eat fish as I find meat very heavy. So I live on fruit yoghurt eggs and wafers. I am also suffering with dumping often but think this is related to the medication I have been on. As you see I need help on my diet.. I have always been hopeless at diets and never stick to them. Hence the gastric sleeve. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. My doctor told me I was a lightweight my start weight was 107k I am now 93kg and my goal weight is 70kg. I have not exercised since my op apart from a stroll now and again. I am need of support to keep my eye on my goal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I have been so ill since my gastric sleeve in February. I ended up with a chronic chest infection which went on for months. My diet has been dreadful because I never really looked at it. I took my last antibiotic last week and slowly building myself back up. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Just stick to your pre op diet as much as you can. Also prepare meals and freeze them so you don't have to think what do I Eat now! You will feel a bit wobbly the first week or so. Plus you most likely have the odd pity party when people are eating around you. Biggest thing try and drink as much Water as you can. I found coconut water easier to drink than water Water felt very very heavy in my new stomach. I am 5 weeks tomorrow. I am feeling much better ate out today for the first time with my hubby.. He had pork belly and I had pate! lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What is on the menu today

Rice porridge with cashew milk 1 date and cinnamon.. I can't eat or drink diary or wheat.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I am post op 5 weeks and I have lost 13k hmm I think that's 26lbs I have another 20k to go. I don't miss food only when I go out for dinner with my hubby.. I am still on soft food so I have Soup or pate. Today my hubby had pork belly. I had a taste about 1 teaspoon I managed it ok. It tasted so good at first but it's strange I didn't want anymore from his plate. I still tend to eat too fast.. So then I sit and watch him eat.. I am trying to slow down but figure this will come with practice. I do have pity parties in my head particularly not drinking coffee when can I have a coffee like an espresso? Does anyone know? Monster energy drinks!

I drink coconut water its natural and has potassium if you take nexium or reflux meds you loose potassium it's a good way to get the vit back into you plus it hydrates you. A bit expensive but worth it. I drink 1 litre per day and 1 litre in herbal teas and water. Water feels like lead though.

    What Is Your Biggest Fear?

My fear is getting ill from lack of nutrients that I can not ingest.. In big quantities anymore like iron and vit b
  10. I had my lungs drained on Tuesday my left lung was like cement. So now on my third lot of antibiotics and have to go back to hospital next Tuesday to have the left lung done. I am so over the coughing. I haven't even noticed my sleeve. I find it very hard to eat any diary products as it brings on a coughing fit. I am drinking coconut water and taking probiotics. Plus vitamins. Not eating much as I feel so terrible always out of breath! Has anyone else been ill like me?
  11. I have had a terrible chest infection since my operation which is 3 weeks today! This has bothered me much more than my gastric sleeve. It was discovered that during the operation I aspirated which means I inhaled something into my lungs which has set off this problem with my lungs. As for pain.. I had a little but the hospital had me on pain killers for a couple of days. I got up as soon as I could and walked around the ward 3 times a day. To get rid of the gas and also to try not coughing as much.. I threw up only a couple of times once getting a bariatric swallow test done mainly because they get you to swallow this awful aniseed flavoured drink.. ( awful) I did miss food initially but it was in my head. The beef broth was heaps.. Remember to stay hydrated.. When I came home I started drinking coconut water instead of the other drinks recommended.. I drink one litre per day. It has lots of nutrients in it. Although 200 calories but I prefer it. To eating anyway.
  12. I am 3 weeks out I have lost 10kg so far I have tried just walking but I am fighting a chest infection. As soon as I am well enough. I intend to get in the habit of walking everyday for 30minutes. It's a start.. Once I am at 6-9 months I would like to do weights and yoga. Now I am retired I have much more time on my hands.. Looking forward to getting better and this chest infection gone!
  13. So the operation has been great I could have done without this infection though! I cough so much that sometimes I can't hold any food down. It certainly has been a roller coaster ride! How are you all going??
  14. So it's been 3 weeks and I have lost 10kg However this chest infection is still there. So I saw lung specialist today and my lungs are like glue! Due to he thinks aspersions which is when your intubated and some kind of gunk went into my lungs which caused an infection. So two lots of antibiotics didn't do anything. Anyway tomorrow the lung specialist will be cleaning out my lungs It's day surgery. Cross fingers it gets rid of the cough and chest infection.

    Help

I am having similar issues I am week 3 and have stalled. I was 110kg 244lbs and am now 102kg 224lbs so I shouldn't complain 20lbs is a lot. This week I have cut my meals back as eating 6 times a day is just too much! Breakfast I have half protien shake lunch the rest of the protien shake afternoon tea two tablespoons of yoghurt dinner casserole 1/4 cup mushy. I am drinking 2-3 litres water sip sip plus tea. My calories are about 500 You would think I would loose weight faster but I have Hashimotos so it's very slow. I am giving myself 12 months. My goal weight is 160lbs about 75kg. I haven't started any real exercise Still a bit embarrassed to put on leggings a tshirt My mind keeps saying I am fat.. which I am.. lol.. I just go for a stroll around the block in a dress It will get better when I get under 100k
