Any Jan. 18, 2016 Sleevers?!?
dietbelle replied to sumbrown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My date has just been set today 9th February. I see the nutritionist tomorrow. My husband is more worried than I am.. I have had 2 c sections that was painful. I am more worried about the nutrition and water if all I can ingest a little more than a shot glass! What are your concerns? I am Australian so don't understand lbs really we talk in kilos! lol -
Very funny... I can tell you a true story which in today's political correctness would be frowned on but back in the 1970s not so much. I'm Australian and I shared a flat in London with a friend who was and still is a nurse. She rang her work and said she wouldn't be in because she was in bed with a wog. In the UK a wog was a coloured person. In Australia a wog was a flu or cold. Her work mates being English were horrified that she had the hide to call in that she was in bed with wog.... Very funny as she had a lot of explaining to do when she returned work... Australian slang gotta love it!

Surely there are healthy options in this situation. Like the parsley or carrot sticks etc The fresh vege that they dress the platters with try that. If it has no nutria all value don't eat it.

I travel to for a living. I am taking 6 weeks off. My concern is eating out with clients. Also being in a foreign country if I get ill. The hotels are good but it is a mental thing to. I am hoping that after surgery I get much needed mental health as well as nutritional help. I worry about the small stuff like getting my suitcase off the carousel. I hope I don't tear my newly mended stomach! I hope it doesn't affect my work...

Hashimoto's and success with sleeve?
dietbelle replied to bhopeful's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hashimotos is just the worst Would you believe I was a flight attendant and weighed 57kilos ( 35years ago) I now weigh 107 kilos and gaining. My hashimotos started 20 years ago. It's just since hitting menopause that it's completely derailed. Gain in the just 4 years has been 20 kilos. I have been on isagenix diet for 3 months now two protein shakes per day and normal meal at night. I have gained weight but I feel really well. My triglycerides and chol are down.My encrinologist was the one who suggested the sleeve. She is of the opinion that my body for whatever reason is over absorbing nutrients and storing fat. She has had great success with weight loss with other hashimotos patients. So here I am. If this doesn't work well I just don't know what will. Too much exercise depletes the adrenal glands whatever is left of them. I am just so sick of being sick all the time. If my weight comes off I may be able to do things I can't now. Like walk 3 blocks or swim 10 lengths of a pool, without stopping.mRun and play with my grandchildren. Just looking at nutrient now -
What did you tell people about your absence?
dietbelle replied to Good apple's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree it would be wonderful to be upfront and tell the whole truth. But really..come on.. I am not sure about you but I certainly am over the cruel fat jokes. Can you imagine people at work when you say I had 80% of my stomach cut away. I think I know how my colleagues will react with absolute horror. Then the snide remarks about how I didn't have the will power to diet and exercise! No I will keep to the gall bladder story. It's more feasible for me and as my weight drops off ( I hope) I intend to say that I am very careful what I put in my mouth after my,op. If I have to go in for an actual gallstone op. Then I may say it was my appendix. But no way am I telling the people I work with that I am having a sleeve. The only people I have told so far are my immediate family because I live with them they love me big or small and are very supportive. The judgemental ones who push for answers I will lie to. I am just so over being the fat woman. -
I am going to have a gastric sleeve and looking at water ( very necessary) Is it easier to drink warm water or room temperature water than icy water? Do herbal teas count as water or is this on top of what you are to drink? I am seeing the Dr for my first visit next week and my biggest concern is lack of nutrients in my system. Anyone having vitamin injections?

Try Isagenix but make sure your dietician approves -
I have been on the Isagenix diet for 6 months I haven't lost any weight but all my things like triglycerides cholesterol have dropped significantly. I am still going ahead with the gastric sleeve as I have Hashimoto's disease ( so hard to live on 800 calories a day) I am hoping that the gastric dietitian approves as I think nutritionally Isagenix is a much better product than the others. They have a products called E shot all herbal but gives you an energy boost! My first appointment is this week and my biggest concern is making sure I don't end up with some other disease due to lack of nutrient rich foods. Do you know if you can have vitamin shots from the Dr?

dietbelle replied to Good apple's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am considering having the gastric sleeve. Appointment is in two weeks. I have already thought about what I would say to friends and family. That I am having my gall bladder out as your diet has to change No fatty food for instance plus you do loose weight for this operation.. -
You need to ask yourself what a definition of a friend is? She should be someone who encourages you on your journey barracking on the sidelines for doing well. This woman is no friend. Also showing you up in front of your husband like this not good. Next time if there is a next time take control and you request the table that you want. You're in control of your wls so being in control of your surroundings is allowed to. Your husband will respect you more I am sure.

Why not mix protein powder with water?
dietbelle replied to BobbyD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone tried isagenix? They produce a caffeine type of drink for energy called an Eshot.. It would be great to be able to stay on isagenix after my surgery.. -
New to all the things!
dietbelle replied to allenjf's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have my first appointment on the 10th Dec. I am 58 and my weight has always been a battle as I also have Hashimoto's ( under active thyroid) I am leaning towards a gastric sleeve to stop me eating for energy. My disease causes energy level drops. I read somewhere that by removing most of the stomach it reduces issues with autoimmune diseases has anyone heard of this? I just hope if I go down this way that my weight reduces and stabilizes for the first time in my life. -
Hashimoto's and success with sleeve?
dietbelle replied to bhopeful's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to ask a few questions to. I am new to this site. I have Hashimotos and fibromyalgia. Autoimmune diseases are the worst. I take 200 m of thyroxine and am constantly exhausted. Plus all the other things I take for pain and reflux. My body is truely a mess..I am post menopausal and my hashimotos has gone out of control. My weight gain has been 20kg( sorry I am Australian ) about 55lbs. In 4 years... Just crazy. I have been on every diet known to man...lol...hence my name... So I have been reading what others with the same disease are saying and they do have success. My 1st appointment is next week. Do the Drs know the true answer to malabsorption of vitamins? Having autoimmune diseases I am concerned getting more such as Parkinson's because of lack of the proper vitamins to support my body? Will the vitamins I take orally be enough will they absorb? Should I get vitamin injections instead. What are the crucial questions to ask the Dr in my first visit? Looking forward to hearing back from you any thoughts will be well received.
