    Pre Op Diet

I suppose all Dr do but I still think it's odd.. I am such a control freak that I am going to make very very sure it's right! lol!
  4. If it's in your super you probably have to pay 15% tax taking it out. you pay 15% tax putting your super into your superfund. It only becomes tax free i.e. Taking it out after 55 and then it's still limited until retirement age which I think is 65 still.. Other than this way is to go through the public hospital system but you will still have to pay for some I think. Hope this helps..

    Any Aussie sleevers?

I have been told not to diet before the op I am nervous because I don't want the Doc opening me up and then deciding my liver is too fat to do the operation. What did your Doc say?

    Pre Op Diet

He has told me 3 days before to have the protein drinks and a small meal once a day. I think it's odd but I am going to call his clinic tomorrow as I need to know exactly what I have to do. Good luck on the 18th ...

    Pre Op Diet

I have decided to cut out carbs or most carbs like pasta rice and bread. Only have a couple of glasses of wine on the weekends and eat fruit instead of chocolate. Starting tomorrow! Yes I have promised myself tomorrow.,

    Pre Op Diet

I am being sleeved on the 9th February my Dr also has not said anything about dieting or even loosing or trying to loose weight before the operation.
  10. I am sure it will go well. Recovery to
  11. What you have is Hashimotos disease it causes weight gain! Once on your mess your weight will decrease because your levels will normalize. Your thyroid manages your other organs so it's very important on how the body works. I would say about 4 weeks but keep having bloods tested as your meds may have to me adjusted. I have had Hashimotos for 25 years. Even after your op you may still have to take meds. It's an immune thing. I take 200 but if you're only on 50 maybe once your weight is off you may not need it. I also read but it could be wrong as it was a dr on the Internet! lol That the majority of immune sufferers have a lot going on in the gut once this is cut off the problems i.e. Hashimotos goes with it.. I hope so Good luck stay focused its only another 4 weeks or so and be deluge the with your meds empty stomach 1st thing in the money ..
  12. Was the cyst caused by the operation. Or was it there all along?
  13. Oh sorry to hear about the cyst. 30lbs in less than a month is fantastic! Are you starting to feel better?
  14. When you say patience you aren't loosing much weight?
  15. Just reading your story. Congratulations on going through with the operation. It is a huge deal for all of us but feeling unsupported by a loved one does make it that much harder. I am 58 have 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren. My children support me but my husband doesn't really. We have been married 35years but he has always sabotaged every diet I have been on because he likes to win.. I know this sounds strange but he thinks if I loose weight and get fit I will be able to walk faster or even jog faster than him. That I will get the attention..to tell you the truth I think he is jealous.. He comes from a highly competitive family I dont...The thought of me loosing 12pounds or more in one month horrifies him because it's not him! I have been to see a shrink because I wanted to make sure I was doing this op for me and not to annoy my husband.. Odd thinking isn't it..but honestly all our married life has been competitive from jobs and salaries etc.. Weight he has always won..nervous energy skinny.. I am having this operation not to annoy him but to prevent my joints getting so bad he has to push me around in a wheel chair or I have to use a mobile walker. I could become diabetic and my Hashimotos could become uncontrollable. I am having this op for me and me alone He can either support me or get lost.. But I like you am determined to prove to myself and him that I can put myself first and put my health first. As far as exercise goes I found swimming and bike riding so far don't hurt..post op not sure. It's hard being married to an A hole isn't it! Just keep a sense of humour... Just to really p him off...lol...
  16. Reading everyone's journey is great. It reconfirmed that I am doing this for me and my future. I have had great concern from my family on my side.. I think because they are all like me ( obese) I have had a bit of negativity. About what will I do when I can't eat anymore. I can't wait not to think about food anymore and actually enjoy dinner conversation. Not what I will eat next! I am sure I will be extremely happy..
  17. Just found this site. I am being operated on February 9th 2016. I am 58 and want to be fit enough to play with my grandchildren. I want and need loads of energy. I am married to a skinny man ! Lol.. I hope by loosing weight we can go into retirement going hiking. He is very concerned that our life together will change a lot. Like having a drink on a Friday night. He also thinks that I could die! I am healthy apart from my weight and my surgeon has a 99% success rate. Is my husband being all gloom and doom or should I be concerned?
  18. Hello Aussie girl here... I am booked for the 9th February.. I am a bit worried.. I have a very good surgeon recommended by my encrinologist. Did anyone go for the psych evaluation? My therapist told me to avoid being with my parents over Christmas because they are food obsessed... I am very conflicted on what to do... What do I tell them? You can't come because you both are obsessed with food? Its a bit Bah humbug doesn't it?

    Drinking alcohol

That's great advice plus common sense I just don't want to spoil my daughters wedding by being ill but I also want to enjoy the wedding to. I know it's not about the food and wine but it tends to be a big part of it at a wedding! lol.. I certainly don't want to hurt my liver anymore than I already have..

    Drinking alcohol

I am having my sleeve done on 9th February and my daughter is getting married on 8th April. Do you think I can toast the bride and groom with champagne 8 weeks after my sleeve? Or should I stick to water? Also the food will I be able to eat more solid food or do I ask for mushed up food.. I really do not want to draw attention to myself. Would love to hear your opinions
  21. I'm not that worried because I know the alternative ( not having the sleeve done) is not a good prospect. I have Hashimotos disease for 30 years and I have been on a diet all of my life! My weight will only increase to the point that my husband will be pushing me around in a wheelchair. I am already on my shakes and one meal per day to try and loose some weight I am on Isagenix and it's pretty good plus my Dr approved it better than Optifast! My concern is not getting enough water after I have been sleeved a shot glass doesn't hold much! I live in the tropical part of Australia to
