Any December Sleever's?
Cheeselife replied to wif3ysince08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it weird that I love you guys already?? Maybe that I'm (HANGRY!!) emotional because my surgery is tomorrow. Seems so sudden after such a long wait!! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk -

Any December Sleever's?
Cheeselife replied to wif3ysince08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in! If it's a secret group. My surgery is tomorrow. I've been buying more Protein shakes, failing to buy liquid Tylenol, or multivitamins! I did buy a pill crusher, protein pudding, gummy vits, and Floradix to fill gaps? No idea if we can have that though. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk -
Pre-op TMI Question for Ladies
Cheeselife replied to fluffytofit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A friend of mine is an anesthesiologist, she said that 1 in 4 women coming in for surgery will have their period. It's normal. It depends how strong you're feeling, but I'd definitely challenge them to explain what problems your period would cause. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk -
That's a worry, I'm so sorry! I'm so worried that I've missed something or something will come up and my surgery will be cancelled. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

I couldn't do the liquid diet, I feel like such a failure. My surgeon said it wasn't super important for me, but would be good to get me into good habits. I've done Protein shakes twice a day, but have been hungry, and snacked ???? Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

I'm December 9th in NYC! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk -
I'm getting very nervous, though I know there's no real need! It's strange to be packing a hospital bag when the new baby I'll be bringing home is me! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

Pre-op TMI Question for Ladies

Wanted to add that I use Period Tracker on my phone, it adapts to your cycle and adjusts, it's incredibly accurate for me! -
Pre-op TMI Question for Ladies
Cheeselife replied to fluffytofit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My period is due the day of surgery too. I asked my anesthesiologist and he said to check with the nurse who calls the day before the surgery, but it won't be a big deal. I refuse to be embarrassed, I'm a normal human woman, 50% of all humans in the world have periods! -
Has anyone done this without any family, etc. at the hospital?
Cheeselife replied to 280journey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! I've told a couple of friends, but no family. I'll be alone too, my husband will be home with the children, and I prefer being alone when I'm sick anyway! Has anyone noticed you're eating differently? -
Feeling [not so] hopeful ????
Cheeselife replied to glitterpockets's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was worried too, my doctors notes for my 6 months supervised weight loss were pretty much just 6 lines with date and weight. Us I was also barely at a BMI of 40 with no health issues at all. I was approved and given my own nurse by the insurance company, she's going to call me regularly and will help me with any questions. You'll be fine, I'm sure. -
December 22nd- Christmas Sleevers
Cheeselife replied to msfranjul's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Where is your surgery? Usually you're only staying a night or two, most of the hospital staff will want to be home too so I'd be surprised if they plan for routine patients to hang around. I'd suggest talking to your surgeon's office to ask, worst case you can ask to postpone the surgery by a week. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk -
Mine is very good, but I'm not sure he realizes how much things will need to change. For those who are on the other side, how did you prepare your partner? What did you wish you'd done or said?

Partners and spouses?
Cheeselife replied to Cheeselife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry you're in this position, you really are stuck between a rock and a hard place. I can sympathize with your side, my husband gets upset if I make decisions without including him in my thought processes. It sounds like she needs reassurance. Are you able to find new ways to spend time together, maybe suggest going for a walk every evening, even if only to the end of the street, or around the block? She'll appreciate that you want to spend more time with her and it will help both of your health too. Did you find any support groups near you? Maybe you could go to one together? She might meet other spouses further along her journey who can reassure her. -
Thanksgiving Day!
Cheeselife replied to Kym Preslar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is December 9th too. I've tried to avoid food funerals (food is my abusive but persuasive ex!) but it's been tough. My surgeon said a full liquid diet isn't necessary, but is a good chance to find liquid Protein that I like, and gets me into appropriate habits. I've been allowing myself one small meal a day. We don't have family locally so yesterday wasn't too tough, just a nice turkey dinner! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk -
Partners and spouses?
Cheeselife replied to Cheeselife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is very supportive, he'll do whatever I ask, but I'm worried that he'll miss our weekly pizza night, or maybe I won't want to cook for a while and they'll have to have frozen meals. My hospital has a seminar online but it's very vague, nothing specific. My hubs works crazy Manhattan hours so won't be able to come with me to any appointments before the surgery. Do you have an online video you'd recommend as a good grounding in what to expect? He's had his appendix out so has some understanding of surgery recovery, but is there anything I should warn him about or ask him for for those first few days home? Head Hunger - Binge Eating Disorder
Cheeselife replied to Jennifer Ostermeier's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm at the beginning of my journey, surgery in a couple of weeks. Something which is helping me is viewing myself as a friend in an abusive relationship, with food! I can be my own friend, and it helps me face those urges to get back in touch with my old flame, inappropriate eating habits! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk -
Please tell me we can still have it! I'm assuming I'll need to follow the liquid rules as far as slow sipping and non-carbonated goes, and I know it's just empty calories, but we can still have it afterwards, right?? Otherwise I'm going to need ALL your unused pain meds to help me survive my children's teen years. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

It's a bit of a rollercoaster, so I'm planning to keep my options open. In all honesty, I'm a suburban housewife, I know exactly which doctors are script-happy, it's not really my thing either! I suspect my surgery will inspire some creative coping mechanisms though. Then I'll pour my energy into my PhD and ultimately develop a frosty tallboy pill for my bariatric buds. You make a very good point about the liver being under stress while metabolising our excess fat as we lose it, that wasn't something I'd considered. I don't have an addictive personality, least not to the point of self-destruction. Yarn it is! You'll all need to hand over those pain meds too, I've got two tween daughters skidding through the best bit of adolescence right now... Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

I never drink and drive, and I have a wonderful support system at home, just going to miss watching a movie with a few beers with my hubby on a Friday night! I'm also in therapy, started 3 years ago. Planning for knitting to be my transfer addiction, right now I only knit for a couple of hours a day, so I'll have more time for it once I've divorced food.

Gastric sleeve at NYP Columbia in NYC?
