Acid and decision for surgery
claddagh66 replied to oceangirlpc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's definitely something to find out for sure. I have a friend who recently had the sleeve and she now has reflux and didn't before and I know others that have no issues. Problem that scares me is I have reflux now and problems from it and I never knew I even had it! I never have indigestion or heartburn or anything. It's silent and doing its dirty work without me even knowing -
Acid and decision for surgery
claddagh66 replied to oceangirlpc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I would love to also get a second opinion but not sure who to go to or how much time I have before getting in to see someone else. I have heard so often about how the sleeve can worsen already acid events and create acid issues. My doctor says it's a straight shot up into the esophagus with the sleeve stomach. The RNY offers a detour so acids get stopped. I called the eng doctor I saw who did my scope and the nurse I spoke with told me she would advise me to follow what my doctor is suggesting and it all makes perfect sense. Also if acids get up there they can eat away all the good cells and can lead to cancer. Pretty scary! Idk. I just am not 100% now with either!???? -
Acid and decision for surgery
claddagh66 replied to oceangirlpc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I just had my last apt yesterday and had been leaning towards the sleeve this whole time. So excited. Then yesterday my surgeon said I have the starts of Barrett's esophagus and acid reflux. That ended that. He said the acids can come up and burn all the cells and can cause cancer. Also he said if there's s problem with it prior there is a guarantee it will become worse since it's now a straight shot up thru the esophagus with the sleeve. I know I surely don't want esophageal cancer or throat cancer from all these acids but I am so beyond sad and now I have a very short time to educate myself on the RNY. Good luck to you with your decision. -

I don't have a Sam's membership but do like your post of a powder form of the Premier Protein Oh your most welcome! Glad it helped you. The closest costco to me is about 17 miles so I opted for SAMs. I used to have both memberships but just cut down to one now. Sams will also slow coupons if you have them I think! Not positive. I believe if you break down the cost between the 12 pack and the 28 pack it's just pennies difference. Although with Costco you'll get more tootsie home???? I have yet to try the strawberry. I need to look for that one! Yum! Costco also carries the premier protein 18 pack for $24.99. Many times a coupon is available for less. Always have the 3 flavors vanilla, chocolate and strawberry in stock. By far they are my favor to this day 2 yrs out Thx u for sharing info and pics!! -

Hi SassyNanny. They were packs of 12 at SAMs club. I just got them yesterday. The pictures I posted were all the choices SAMs had. They're so good. The protein bars are really good too! Worth the purchase! -

Do you put the extract in the shake for flavoring?I haven't yet but I've thought about it. I also bought the PB2 and it's a powder Peanut Butter. That would go into it also!I love pb2 but I'm unable to use it yet. I'm looking into other Proteins as well I just hadn't seen anyone use those. Let us know how it is!You got it!???? -

Yeah I really like them. I picked up 3 cases. Got them for 16.66 today. Not sure you'd get them any cheaper. -

Wonder what it is with the left side that causes pain and so much discomfort. I've heard this by a few others as well. Interesting. Baby steps. I think your doing great so far! Stinks bending is the worst. I have a paralyzed dog that I need to bend over to manually express to pee 3x a day! This is gonna be very interesting. My biggest concern about me doing this!

Hi Dawn! So glad to hear from you and to know all is good with you! Did you stay with the bypass? How is your pain? Are you able to move much? Glad your home!

Has anyone had a sleeve done to aid in Back pain?
claddagh66 replied to Cindy67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Cindy. I too have back issues. I have 7 herniated discs in my lower back and have had 3 minor procedures on it with very little relief. I carry all my weight from my waist down so it just makes things harder. My back is always achy. I have neck issues, shoulder, foot and vein issues all due to my weight (well not my shoulder lol) I can't exercise cause of my foot being fractured and the doctor said its from my weight (who knows why). I would think any weight loss would benefit your back. I do think it would help you. It can help your posture or how you sit. How you stand and just the overall weight you tote around. So yes I too am getting it done to help with my back. Not sure that this helps you but it can let you know your not alone????
