    Silly annoyance

You know what I hate? Weighing my multi-ingredient snack, logging it in my fitness pal...and then can't finish it. . I really need to get better at estimating how much food I can eat. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Silly annoyance

I use a digital scale. I find it to be more accurate and easier to measure things by weight. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Deviled egg ideas?

I am loving deviled eggs lately. Lately, I've been experimenting with fillings, with a goal of being healthful and yummy. Tonight, I filled some egg whites with jalapeño lime hummus (yum!). I also made a filling with the yolks, light mayo, and horseradish (also yum!). I've tried swapping out mayo for Greek yogurt, but didn't care for that. Anyone else doing interesting things with deviled eggs? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Premier Protein...

I tried the caramel today. Loved it! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Instant mashed potatoes? Ok for Purée?

Just a tip--if you make instant mashed potatoes with all milk, instead of Water it will up the Protein amount in them. Unflavored Protein powder also mixes well in them. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Premier Protein...

I like the strawberry. Banana is my favorite, though. Anxiously waiting for when SAMs has the banana flavor again. Not sure about caramel. Haven't tried it, and it isn't my favorite flavor in general. . Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Looking for buddy in or around Toledo Ohio

Glad you are doing better! The diet does get easier to follow as you get further from surgery. You get more options. I'm doing really well. I've been back to work for about a month. Plan on taking naps when you get home that first week, if you can! I was exhausted. Getting better now. Saw my nutritionist today, and I am cleared for all food, as tolerated. Can't wait to have strawberries! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Liquid diet

One thing that helped me was having a cup of hot broth. I like Swanson brand flavor infused broths--chicken tortilla and Tuscan chicken were my favorite. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Looking for buddy in or around Toledo Ohio

Hi! I'm a 38 year old woman that had gastric bypass on April 26---and I live outside of Columbus, Ohio. Seems like we have some things in common! How are you doing since surgery? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  10. This has been a great weekend for NSVs. I did a tour of an underground cave system, and I never once had to think, "oh lord, please let me fit." I walked up the 60+ stairs at the end without stopping for a break. And, I had a regular customer come up to me to say they didn't recognize me. I am about six weeks out from RNY, down 80 lbs all together (50 before surgery, 30 since). I feel really good. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Who do you share the news with?

my son is 9 yrs old. I've told him that I had an operation to help me become a healthier person. He was satisfied with that. Since surgery, I've told him some more details (size of my pouch, for example) as it comes up. He is my #1 cheerleader and says he is very proud of me becoming healthier. 12. In addition to tests mentioned above, my insurance required a sleep study and an echocardiogram. Plus follow up testing (trains-esophageal Echo and stress test) when I had abnormal results on keg and Echo. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Camping--food/tips

Hi all! I am about six weeks out from RNY surgery and doing great. My family is planning a three night tent camping trip over July 4th weekend. Anyone camp after surgery and have some food tips for me? I'm not too worried--I plan on eggs or Greek yogurt for Breakfast, and there are lots of Protein options for lunch/dinner. We always do s'mores when camping, but I think I'm just going to have to resist that. Maybe take along a piece or two of sugar free chocolate to nibble while others have s'mores. If you are a camper, do you have any tips for camping after WLS? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Camping--food/tips

Great ideas! I can have fruit, so roasting pineapple or peaches sounds great! Also love the Quest bar idea. I'm not far enough along yet for Protein bars, but maybe by then. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Veggies

I just saw my NUT today, and she said about six weeks out for salad. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  17. dinner tonight was supposed to be 2 oz of rotisserie chicken and a spoonful of mashed potatoes. I ate about half an ounce of chicken and felt full, so I stopped. Put the rest into a tiny plastic container for later. #1. Yeah for me for stopping based on how I feel, and not how much I've eaten. #2. Seriously? A half ounce of chicken? Why did I bother to get a plate and a fork again??? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Favorite Greek Yogurt

Currently, I eat the Oikos triple zero and the dannon light and fit Greek. The thing I love about the Oikos is that it has 6 g of Fiber...I'm not getting fiber many other places, so those 6 g help! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Disney World - Fat Friendly?

I was at Disney last fall, rode Mine Train, and loved it. I weighed about 265 then, but I'm only 5'2, so significantly shorter than you. I bet you will be able to ride, but might need to ride in the cart by yourself? It is a very short ride, as another poster said. I have found Disney to be very fat friendly. I don't think there is anything there I couldn't do. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Hacks, Tips and Helpful Notes

Here is a silly little tip from me....buy a ramekin or two to use as bowls, if you don't already have some. The thicker walls seem to keep my food warmer for longer, which is great when you are trying to eat slower. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  21. I had gastric bypass on April 26, 2016. I can drink my 11 oz Protein shake in one sitting without any problems. I am eating puréed foods, and 2 oz seems to be about right for the amount of food I can tolerate at once. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  22. I want to be able to play soccer with my 9 year old. We have always kicked the ball back and forth, but his soccer league has family pick up games during the summer, and I'm looking forward to being able to play in them! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  23. I get frequent kidney infections, but did not have one on my pre-op diet. Definitely see your doc, so they can get you on antibiotics. I was on antibiotics for an abscessed tooth when I had my surgery, and it did not have any affect on it. Good luck! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  24. I'm just starting my 3rd week post op, so I'm not eating out anywhere at this point. However, at some point when I'm eating regular food, I'm sure I will eat out again. What kinds of things do you eat when you eat out? Do you have any favorite meals or places or even strategies to share. My family and I don't eat out a ton, in general. We do some takeout meals, but sit down restaurant meals are once a month or less. I'm trying to think of "go-to" things to order from some of our typical take out places. Here is what I've brainstormed so far: Chinese: hot and sour Soup, maybe chicken teriyaki skewers. Pizza: ummm...maybe salad with chicken. Or pizza toppings? Not sure. Mexican: fajitas with a Protein, no rice. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

If you eat out, where do you go?

You make a good point about it being in my head. There is a lot more mental work to this than I anticipated. I'm up to the challenge, but it surprised me a bit at first. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
