Just the post op period and recovering from surgery.

I am not really nervous, I really like my surgeon ... I'm excited, but prepared for the fact that the first few months are going to be rough if that makes any sense.

My Dr. is Dr. Balette. My PCP recommended I go to Houston. I did call to inquire about the program at LGMC, and a rude receptionist, coupled with them taking a long time returning calls, and the recent news that LGMC is being penalized by medicaid/medicare because their post op infection rate is higher than optimal made me decide to go elsewhere. After my initial consult in Houston I just felt very comfortable with that surgeon and the experience has been great so far. My surgery is next week.

At 2 weeks post-op, my non VSG world shattered. I am trying to pick up the pieces...

Please know you and your family are in my prayers. Put yourself on a timer if necessary to get your nutrition needs met ... less to think about! -
3 times 10 does not equal 70!

It would really depend on your Protein goal. Since mine is 100 grams a day, I would have to have 35 grams of protein a meal (which is just not realistic for me). I can see it being possible if your protein goal was 70 grams. But, 70 grams is really low. Not only that but your body can't absorb more than 30 gms and hour so any meal with more than that is wasted protein. This is when Snacks come in handy. A protein rich, nutritious snack with about 10 -15 gms of protein is a life saver. For the OP. One of the things I do is split one bottle of Isopure Nocarb clear drink into 3 parts. I then add it to my 24 ounce Water bottle and refill that at least twice. Anytime I am not eating, I'm sipping. Isopure NoCarb drinks are 40gms. of protein per 20 ounce bottle. Between that and my meals I can easily hit my protein and Fluid goals. Sorry to ask what is probably a dumb question but do you dilute the Isopure drinks with water? -
I have my initial consult this month, I have told very few people that I am considering this and will keep it that way as I progress. It's a private matter.
