I'm 40 and have 3 boys - 8, 11, 13. The middle one has Aspergers. I have been married for almost 18 years with many ups and downs but we're doing OK right now. I came to the States 15 years ago from Germany and I'm incredibly homesick still. I was always a bit chubby but the weight piled on all at once when I moved to the US. So many changes in life style and by the time I was here 2 years I had gained 60 lbs. Been trying to diet ever since. My mom passed almost 8 years ago from cancer and I was able to get to Germany in time to be with her when she died. My world is still in pieces. It seems like every day is a struggle between trying to manage my behavioral autistic son, my emotionally unsupportive husband and my weight. I work part time as an optician and for the first time in years I said no to the "Biggest Loser" challenge at work. Every January we start the weight loss challenge, I rock it and by summer I gain it all back plus 10lbs. I haven't told anyone about the sx except a friend who had bypass a couple of weeks ago, my husband, my sister and two friends who work out with me. My sister is trying not to show it but I can tell she doesn't understand. She used to weigh 300lbs and lost 130, maintaining ok. Good for her... My two workout buddies gave me "the look" when I told them, so I am keeping my mouth shut to everyone else lol because it's extremely discouraging. 2016 will be MY year. I need to love myself again and not be exhausted and on pain anymore. My sciatica is bad and my knees are hurting. I hate my fat suit.

I'm in NH???? I am going through Dartmouth Hitchcock and will have surgery at the Elliott in Manchester.

They are a center of excellence which is required by my insurance. I have not checked on the aftercare yet, great thought ????

Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
hunnycup replied to Awjones28's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
And this is why only a handful of people will find out. My coworkers are judgmental know-it-alls and most of my family is in Germany anyway, I only see them every few years. For any health professional who needs to give me advice - come right at me. -
What’s the ONE thing you wished you knew before getting sleeved ?

This is a good thread, I'm lurking, hoping to be sleeved in May -
I'm hearing I'm taking the easy way out from family and friends
hunnycup replied to Protea's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not going to tell my coworkers. They are a very judgmental bunch of people as it is! I have told my husband, my sister and two of my friends whom I work out with and who may not understand but are not judging me. I know eventually people will start talking and figure it out but I think once it's over I won't care as much. What I don't want is for people to talk me out of it or into it or give me their opinions at all. This is my fight and I have to live with my decision. I am not sure what I will tell my kids, the 8 year old will not understand, the 11 year old has Aspergers and won't get it, my 13 yo....I am not sure. -

Hi, it's early in the game for me. I have just made the decision to get RNY. I have to jump through my insurance company's 6 months hoop but am excited nonetheless. I quit smoking already ????. Reading all your success stories is really inspiring. Everyone is doing great!!
