    May 10th!

I pre registered for my surgery yesterday!!!! Well my journey started 6 months ago when I had my first visit with my Dr. I have Highmark BCBS of PA, insurance. I had to have 6 months of nutrition visits and a psych eval. My BMI was 37, so I did also have to have comorbities which I do.. I'm pre-diabetic and take metoformin, and also used victoza. I also have tarsal collation in my right foot which due to the extra weight causes my foot to swell, and is extremely painful. My last nutrition visit was April 15th, and my paper work was submitted the same day. I got the call May 21st, that I had been approved. I started my pre-op diet on April 26th, weighing in at 220. I'm drinking a protein shake for breakfast and lunch, for dinner I am having lean cuisines that my Dr gave me a list of which ones were okay. Today is the 3rd day on my pre-op diet and I'm weighing in at 116!!! Im not sure if it's all really sunk in yet, but I'm sure it will soon enough. Any other May 10th sleevers? I'd love to have a surgery buddy [emoji16][emoji3]

  5. My date is set, May 10th!! Any other May 10th surgery dates? I'm starting my pre-op diet tomorrow 4/26. I have to do protein shake for breakfast and lunch, and then they gave me a list of lean cuisines I could have (I'm not a cooker) for dinner. I still have to contact the hospital I'm having my surgery at and get an EKG and Chest X-ray.

    Submitting to Insurance!

I'm soooooo nervous! Today was my final nutrition visit, and I am on cloud 9. My insurance, Highmark BCBS required that I do 6 months of nutrition, and a phych evaluation which has all been completed. They plan on submitting to my insurance today. My BMI is 37.9, it was higher but I have lost a little weight during my 6 months nutrition. I also have other comorbities so I am praying I get approved. Let the waiting game begin, as I bite my nails[emoji23]

    Highmark BCBS

I have began my journey and so far have done my psych eval, I still have 4 months left of nutrition that my insurance requires. I am on the lower BMI scale, but do have pre-diabetes and some other weight related issues. I wanted to see what other people's experiences with Highmark has been like. I hate not knowing the outcome, my Dr. Seems to think it won't be a problem being approved, but the fear of the unknown is still there:)
  15. I have only told close family members. I don't feel like it's anyone's business haha!

Dupont Plan - Highmark BCBS Texas

I have Highmark BCBS, you have to have a 40 BMI and 6 months of nutrition visits. I have my 5th month of nutrition on Monday!!!
  17. I have not had surgery yet, I must first do 6 months with a nutritionist the 18th will be my 2nd visit. I have only told a few family members about my surgery plans, and after surgery I don't plan on telling people. I don't want to lie to ppl, but don't really feel it's their business. So my question is... when you do begin loosing weight what did you say? Or if you chose to tell people what was their reaction? Thanks in advance!!

    Nervous!

I am new to this group, and so happy I have found you all. I have struggled with my weight for many yrs, and finally decided to do something about it. I recently started the process to get the gastric sleeve. My BMI is 35.9, I have pre-diabetes, and other weight related issues. My insurance requires 6 months of nutrition visits which I have completed 1 so far. I'm nervous that my insurance (Highmark BCBS, Community Blue Flex) will not approve, but my Dr seems quite confident that it won't be a problem. Has anyone else had low BMI and approved coverage.
