One of my favorites was taking about a 1/4 cup black refried beans and adding some of the brine (juice) from jarred mild jalapeños. Put in a small oven proof dish and sprinkle a bit of your favorite cheese on top ( I like co-jack). Bake at 350 until cheese is melted. I would add a small amount of lite sour cream or very ripe avocado.... YUMMY! Still to this day I love this (5 months out).

Gummies do not have iron in them. Women could risk anemia.

Made my fluids and got about 45 - 50 gm Protein. I am thinking that my internal swelling is my limiting factor. I just ran out of time to swallow anything else . Total of about 350 calories today and feel absolutely no desire to eat, drink, or anything. Very, very odd. Starting my Vitamins tomorrow.

I have heard no hotter than 140 degrees F for protein mix ins. Otherwise it will kind of gel up.

I have no idea how you are getting so much liquid down, but that's awesome! We are doing well!! Oh I haven't done it yet That is my goal for food type stuff. I am struggling getting enough fluids down. The shakes are going down easier than expected though.

No real hunger, but definitely weak. Going to try to get two Protein shakes in today, which will be 320 calories and 60 grams of protein. I mixed a chocolate and vanilla one together since they both taste better diluted. I also thinned a bit with skim milk, so there is a bit more protein coming in there. The shakes actually taste pretty good, so that's a good sign. Hope I can get it all down today.

Swallowing is so weird now. It's like you can feel the liquid stop at a certain point and then drain on down. Very odd.

Received the call and I'm schedule for surgery tomorrow at 9:30am. Going to buy a loose dress to wear to and from surgery so that nothing will touch my stomach and the incisions. Taking pics tonight so I will never forget. New life and new body starting tomorrow!!! Got my time too... Report at 6:30, surgery at 8:30 so I must be the first. Decided to wear comfortable yoga pants to and from. I live in Ohio and it is supposed to snow tonight, so should probably wear pants ???? Getting ready to take my shower with special soap, then repeat in the morning. May do pics after my shower... We'll see ???? Good thoughts and prayers for everyone tomorrow! tomorrow! Expect a call anytime with my time.... Clear liquids today (not mandatory from surgeon, but seemed like a good idea)... My kids are showing some anxiety, but are being very supportive. Going to stay hydrated and relax all day since I took a vacation day for 'mental' prep. Talk to you all soon! Teri

Here I am, 9 days out... 44 years old.... Scared, excited, anxious... I started on this journey about a year ago. I had been fighting high triglycerides for 15 years (with moderate success using medication); then my blood pressure started inching up. Arthritis in my hip, spinal stenosis, and a couple bulging discs in my neck. I have a constant nagging in my brain; reminding me that my mom, and my mom's mom both died at 55. I didn't know my grandmother on that side; but I know there is history of migraines, heart disease, and diabetes. Since my mom had all these and experienced a heart attack when she was 52, I assume my grandmother either passed of a heart attack or a stroke. My kids are 19 (twins) and 14. I really want to see my grandkids. Not only see them; but, play with them, babysit, attend their sporting and music events. I want to live longer than 11 more years. I want to retire and live many years after. I would love to meet my great grandchildren. So, last July I went to an information session and signed on to meet with a nurse navigator. Four nutritionist visits, one upper GI, blood work, EKG, 34 pounds less, and a surgeon appointment later... Here I am. Tomorrow is my pre-op physical at the hospital. Next Tuesday the 9th is the first day of the rest of my life. Thank you for reading! I will try to update as the process continues! Teri ✌️ ???? ????

3 days! Managed to lose another 8 pounds this past week. My liver should be in good shape. Spoke to a friend of mine who had the same procedure last July. Her testimony was fantastic! She really put me at ease and was just what I needed to hear. Underland, here I come!

Had my pre op apt. with my surgeon today. Since I lost a nice amount the past 5 months, I don't have to do a liquid pre op diet (yeah!). Just have to eat responsibly until the 8th. Pre admission testing next Tuesday and then just the wait until the 9th.
