:decision: :decision: Well, it has been a little over 4 months since I have been banded and I have lost over 35 pounds since then:clap2: I just had my second fill on 1/28 and it has really gave me alot of restriction, I have just been able to take a couple bites of meat without being sick the past couple of days. Since the beginning of January I have started walking at the YMCA 2 to 3 times a week on the treadmill, walking and jogging. I think that has really increased my weight loss efforts. Plus it has cleared my mind. I started a new job a month before my surgery at a constuction site where we are building a 7 story hotel, I do all the office managing on the site. since I have lost over 35 pounds, I have noticed that I am getting alot of attention lately, which I love in a way, but I am also a little uncomfortable with. I have been married for almost 15 years and I love my husband very much. So I kind of feel guilty for enjoying all the attention I am getting at work. :noidea: I don't know if I completly trust myself if I were put in a situation. And that makes me mad about myself.:angry It kind of makes me want to sabatage my weightloss. Anyway, I may need to see a specialist about this one. I don't want to sabatage my weightloss because I feel healthier then ever. But the attention from one guy in particular worries me because he is attractive and I love the flirting. I know I am a horrible person. I had to talk about it somewhere though. There really is no one I can talk to about these feelings. I like to think that if I was actually in a situation to cheat that I wouldn't do it, but I also know how good the attention feels. My husband gives me attention but we are also very comfortable with just being laid back and not giving attention. we are intimant every week once or twice a week and it is satisfing, so you would think that would keep me from having bad thoughts about another guy. Unfortunently it doesn't:mad: I hate that about myself.

When did your fills really start to work for you?
wendyr replied to NJChick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My first fill I threw up on water, so he had to take some out, so it didn't restrict me much, my second fill i could swallow the water and I have had great restriction kind of uncomfortable every time I eat. But I am on my third week and I can finally eat a couple of pieces of meat without being sick so thats good. I'm finally loosing weight at a good rate, plus I have been walking/jogging. that has really jumpstarted my weight loss. -
Yes, a fill will make a big difference, it will be uncomfortable at first, but it has helped my weight loss take off. I am on the 3rd week since my fill and I am finally able to take a couple bites of meat with out getting sick, but I am glad I didn't get an unfill. My first fill did not help that much because he had to take some out. This is my second fill and it is working.

Lapband Surgery Date was October 6, 2005, starting weight before pre-op was 230 pounds, surgery day weight was 222 pounds. Very nervous and questioning my decision. I was suppose to do all clear liquids for 7 days and I only did it for 3. My surgery was very successful though. I was up and walking that night because I made myself. I know from past surgerys that the quicker you move the faster you recover. The week after my surgery was the toughest. Everyone was eating and I couldn't, I was really starting to regret my discision and mad at myself for going to this extreme to loose weight:confused: My port area was very sore and my shoulder was sore.

I keep waking up in the middle of the night with horrible thoughts about the band, I wake up suprised that I actually have it, even though I have had it for 4 months and I am loosing weight. I then lie awake thinking that I hope I have not caused harm to my body in the future, like what kind of affect will this decision cause me when I am forty, hopefully I will feel healthier then ever. I just had my second fill and now I am starting to get heart burn and acid reflux again. Which is the exact reason I was thrilled about getting the band because that all stopped after the surgery. I don't like regrets, I just wish I could stop waking up in the middle of the night about it, I'm kinda loosing sleep. Anybody else have that problem?

filled 14 days ago and still have trouble
wendyr replied to wendyr's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I took 2 little bites of steak saturday and kept it down, I had tuna friday and kept it down. I had a couple of bites of sloppy joe for lunch yesterday for lunch and kept it down. So I am thinking I am o.k. Although it is definently not a comfortable situation at all. -
I had my second fill 1/26 and I can keep most things down, like tuna or oatmeal, or crackers, but then if i eat regular meat, i throw up. even very chewed chicken that is soft. I ate tuna salad the other night and that was fine. should I be concerned or is that normal, I am really restricted in the morning, i can barely drink my slimfast, but then i can eat lunch slowly.

I tried the warm liquids this weekend and it did help a bit, the slim fast does give me a little trouble in the morning, it takes me over an hour to drink it. The one thing I really slacked on was Water intake. I am really going to try to work on that this week. The good news is that I haven't thrown up since last Wednesday. I have been much more careful. Thanks for the advice. -
I wander how accurate those kind of scales really are? You lost inches and that is what matters.

The only thing about drinking something hot is you are not suppose to drink a half hour before you eat? So do you drink something hot an hour before you eat, I know when I am tight it takes me a half hour to drink a cup of tea.

Calling The Band-Less: Hospital Stays for Band Removal
wendyr replied to dishdiva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Is it true that you still feel some restriction after the band is removed? -
Taking deep breaths help me, and streching, my daughters always ask me what I'm doing when I sit up straight and stretch out, it seems to help.
-
I keep peanut butter, crackers and oatmeal at work at my desk. I keep a slimfast and lunchmeat in the fridge at work.

Life without huge bowls of rice a roni?
wendyr replied to mini_me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Peanut butter is awsome, you may want to start with smooth, but crunchy doesn't even bother me if i chew it well, I can't eat meat but I can eat crunchy peanut butter! sometimes this thing (the band) confuses me. -
Life without huge bowls of rice a roni?
wendyr replied to mini_me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I totally know that the band is different for everyone, I just had my second fill and meat is not my friend, but I can eat pringles with dip. I don't do that very often though because I am trying to find other ways of getting my Protein, which pringles lack. (to bad) So i am eating lowfat cottage cheese, Peanut Butter, slim fast for Breakfast because that is all I can handle in the morning. Those things taste pretty darn good when your hungry! It hasn't been easy, but fitting into sizes that I have been trying for years to get into has made it worth it. -

Pb daily for 2 months? that will definently make me consider a little unfill, i don't want this for 2 months. Pb is productive burp right? if it is just a productive burp and not throwing up, then that wouldn't be so bad. right now i am craving a big hamburger. thats something i probably won't have for along time. -

I had chili last night and for some reason I didn't think it would be a problem, i was way wrong. I couldn't keep it down, so I ate crackers and Peanut Butter later. My biggest concern is getting my Protein, so i am eating more cottage cheese, peanut butter, slim fast with protein and milk. I am going to try the hot tea thing though. Thanks -
I am a field assistant to a supervisor on a construction sight. I work in the office on sight and I love it. I also do computer work for the St. Louis Foster Care Coalition on the side. I work with all men and I have to be careful not to pick up some of the bad language.

I woke up today with my port area hurting today and I am wondering if i should be concerned or could it be from sleeping on my stomach and maybe just sleeping wrong? It's not real painful but pretty sore.

The only restiction I have right now is that I have to chew my food really well or i feel sick. It takes me a half hour to 45 minutes to eat a sandwhich and fries or whatever i'm eating. I know i shouldn't be eating that but I only eat it once in a while. By the way, I haven't weighed since my fill but my clothes are fitting great and i am getting compliments on how i look. thats better then what the scale says at this point

I know how you feel, I had my first problem on wednesday when i was so hungry and i went through mcdonalds drive thru and i got a small hamburger and a small fry and i took one bite of each and i got so sick. 6 weeks after the lap band and that is the first problem i have had, i had my first fill 2 weeks ago. i threw up in the bag where the rest of the food was. i should never eat drive thru when i am so hungry. i don't think i chewed it at all.

I had a 39 bmi and i had acid reflux and diebetes runs in my family. My insurance almost covered it 100%. I was 215 the day of my surgery. It wouldn't hurt to try to get your insurance to cover it.
