What happened to this group?
Newme16 replied to MeAndTinyTina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sebastian and others - I guess my biggest craving would be ice cream. Prior to surgery, ice cream was an every night treat for me. I get around it by drinking some Water after my dinner has settled. Other than that, I am doing well. Some days are hard to get in Protein and water requirements but I do my best. Exercise is my biggest challenge. I suffer from chronic pain (4 back surgeries) which makes exercise difficult. Walking is about all I can do and even with that I have to wait for a "good" day to get in some exercise time. I'm still losing but I know regular exercise is an important part of the program. I think if I could drop about another 20 lbs. it would help diminish my pain. Onward and upward. Ellen - You are an inspiration to us! Just over a year out from WLS and now major cancer surgery. Glad to hear they got all the cancer. Kudos on the size 6. I can't wait to fit in to single digit clothes Take care of yourself. Rachel - Your upcoming surgery is such a nice Christmas gift to yourself. Stay close to this site for inspiration and support. -
What happened to this group?

Greetings Ellen and Rachael.I would love to see this group become more active. I was sleeved on Nov. 4, 2015. Would like to be part of a smaller group to share tips, ideas, etc. I read the main forum daily but a lot of the topics don't pertain to me - it's so huge, I feel like my comments get lost in the maze. Hopefully, you will read this soon and we can get to know each other. -
My surgery was covered under BCBS Texas (retired from state institution). Although my BMI was 36, I had several obesity related conditions. I got approval in about 10 days. The only issue is the high deductible that must be met before they will pay 100%. Seizethelook- if you would like to send me a message, I'll be happy to share more details with you. I can give you the the instructions on how to access the BCBS policy for bariatric surgery.

Anyone using double milk as Protein source? I add 1/3 dry non-fat milk powder to 1 cup non-fat milk and use it in my cream of wheat and pudding. Gives the milk a "boost." I'm tracking in Fitness Pal and not sure how much protein is in a serving of double milk. Anyone know? Will also ask my NUT.

Double Milk for Protein
Newme16 replied to Newme16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the tips. I'm new to FP. I added dry milk as a second entry and I'm good to go. Got another FP question....what if your quantity of food is not listed as an option? For instance, my lunch today consisted on 1/2 cup refried Beans with a little salsa and sprinkle of low fat cheese. The smallest quantity listed for a serving of beans is 1 cup. Any advice on how to add? -
Dr. Jason Balette and CHI St. Lukes hopital the woodlands Tx

Greetings! I belong to the "Dr. Balette" club as well. He performed my surgery on 11/04/14 at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands. Great surgeon and staff. Just started puree diet yesterday but after the liquid phases, I feel like I'm in food heaven. Keeping everything down so far - just some occasional bouts of nausea. For the first time today, I tried some unjury Protein Water and was pleasantly surprised at how well it tasted. Got 21 grams of protein and 8 oz of water in one drink! Have either of you been to the support group that's held at Memorial Hermann on 1st and 3rd Thursday? -
Greetings! This is my first post to this forum. Just signed up a couple of days ago. I had my gastric sleeve surgery done on Nov. 4th. To date, I have been doing really well. Just a couple of bouts of nausea but no vomiting at all. For the most part, I've managed to meet my Protein and liquid requirements. I have lost over 11 lbs. since my surgery - does that sound normal? I know everyone is different. Just want to hear from others if that sounds "typical" for the first 2 weeks post-op.

Thanks for the heads up Inner Surfer Girl. Tomorrow is my 2 week post-op appointment with the surgeon and I had no idea of where I should be with lbs lost.

Newme16 replied to mcp_vsg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Newly sleeved on Nov 4th. No pre-op diet required. Just routine nothing by mouth after midnight the night before.
