Fear from anaesthetics -My big day tomorrow 17dec2015
jennaggie replied to shareefa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right there with you. The idea of someone making me fall asleep and then my life is in your hands creeps me out. But I figure people do it every day so I have to be strong and get over it. -
Anyone's first surgery?
jennaggie replied to sarinemaniss's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first one too! The idea of being knocked out scares me most. I don't like not having control. I worry I won't wake up for some reason. Seems crazy I know! Best of luck to you! I'm sure everything will be fine. People always worry about things they are passionate about. Being healthier should be a passion of ours. -
How to prepare your body for surgery!
jennaggie replied to jennaggie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if getting some working out in is better or not. I just feel like I need to give this my absolute best. So I'm trying to lose as much as I can. I don't see many stories of people over 400 lbs getting this and I'm right on the edge. Makes me nervous about the risks of my heart stopping. I've always been very active. Even participating in 5ks. I just want to be strong enough to maneuver myself afterwards I guess lol. -

I certainly hope so! You're right though. It will be super busy and over before I know it. I'm already dreading seeing my husband walk away from me though. Wish they could let him stay with me till I go to sleep lol. I know I'm over thinking it. A year from now I'll hopefully look back and laugh at how much of a mess I was. -

I never thought of asking for a little something before I went in there. Good tip! -

Thanks y'all for the responses! Yoga is a good idea. I used to take classes. I also used to do cross fit...things change lol. I'll for sure try that. And it makes me feel A LOT better to ear stories from other people who had their first experience in surgery with this too. Any other ideas are always welcome! Thanks again! -
Was there a reason it was denied? I'm self pay so I guess I never thought of being denied as an option as long as I passed all the Tests and lost the pre surgery weight...

How sick am I really?
jennaggie replied to LadiSani's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like this is a great time to check all of that out! I considered it a blessing that I chose to pursue this and found a couple of things out that I didn't know. If I hadn't i may have never known! Stay positive. It's all a part of becoming the healthiest you can be. -

I'm hearing I'm taking the easy way out from family and friends
jennaggie replied to Protea's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel so bad for those who's husbands don't support them . I started by bringing up the conversation as a "what if I did this?". Then we laid in bed together and watched a million YouTube videos about people that had done it, the procedure, and anything else related to it. At first I was a little offended by how supportive he was lol did he want me to lose weight? Was I not good enough for him? That was silly of me. He just really wants me to be happy and healthy. He's gone to the appointments with me and buys me healthy foods and stuff (I'm on a pre surgery diet before we schedule the surgery). Besides him I've told my best friend, sister, mom, and dad. Everyone is behind me and thinks it's a good idea. I went to a trainer and worked part time in a gym for a year (when I was in college with spare time and daddy's money) I lost 100 lbs on my own. Gained it all back plus 20 two years later. I won't pretend I'm not terrified of surgery. But I agree with everyone above. You have to do it for you. When I did lose the weight the first time I had just gotten a divorce and wanted to fix MY life. I still want to help MY life. Having someone who wants you to help your life too is just a perk, not a necessity. You do you! -
Hey guys. I live north of lake Charles and wanted to stay local so I've been working with Dr. Chung in lake Charles. So far he seems legit. He's making me lose 40 lbs before he'll schedule my surgery and despite being on really good LSU insurance I have to pay the 14,000 out of pocket. Anyone used him? Any other near by suggestions for SWLA?

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
jennaggie replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I haven't been sleeved yet. But I'm on the road to it. Working on dropping the weight my dr requires first. My breaking point was finding the love of my life. Odd, right? It's my breaking point because I have finally found a man I want to raise kids with and we had 2 very good doctors tell us it would be a death sentence to me or our baby to get pregnant. He's such an amazing father to his two older children. It's not fair to him. He loves me no matter what and says it doesn't matter to him if we have 0 or 10 kids. He just wants me healthy. I need to do this for our future. -
I would love to go to Mexico. But my husband and I like the idea of my surgeon being so close. He said he doesn't care the cost just wants me close to home.

Those are good ideas. I haven't started working out yet so that is the clear next step. I talked to my general physician about needing to lose the initial weight and she put me on a pill called Contrave to help curb my appetite. It worked wonders for the first couple of months. My meals are basically the same every day. Breakfast- 3 eggs scrambled with two turkey sausage patties and a little cheese and coffee (bout 400 cals), lunch- Atkins microwave meals (bout 400 cals and super easy for me to keep track of with my crazy job), supper- slim fast (190 cals). I did slip up during thanksgiving (had real Dr Pepper again, big mistake). I'm always shocked how fast the weight comes back on! I was at 35 lbs before the holidays and now at 30. I'm on thyroid meds too. That's something we just found out about in the past couple of months. Besides being nobody obese I'm healthy as a horse! I'm going to try harder to stick to the plan I was on before thanksgiving.

I'm currently trying to lose the last 10 of a 40 lb pre scheduling weightless. THEN I can schedule my surgery, THEN I can start the final pre surgery diet. I know it's all worth it in the end. Let's keep up the good work y'all! I have to keep telling myself, it's not like I'll never ever eat satisfying food again, just not for a long time! Lol
