Got sleeve yesterday. I'm home today. Got a drain tube. In a good bit of pain. What was your walking to sitting ratio. I feel like I need rest. I walked a lot in the hospital.

2/9 Surgery Date Team
jennaggie replied to Positive44's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I go first tomorrow. 6:15 check in and 8 am surgery! By lunch time tomorrow I should be up and moving. So many thoughts are going through my head. But as my husband sleeps next to me I know I want all the babies and years that the Lord blesses me with with this man right here. And I'm ready to fight for all of it. Good luck every one. I look forward to checking up on us when I get my phone back tomorrow! Sending out lots of positive vibes! We can do this! -

2/9 Surgery Date Team
jennaggie replied to Positive44's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I go for pre op stuff at the hospital tomorrow. Anyone else having cold feet? This is the first time since I've gotten my date that I thought "maybe I don't need to do this". But I know I do. I think it's the idea of surgery that bothers me. I've never had one. The idea of being hooked up to machines and put to sleep worries me. Trying to not be a downer lol just wondering if anyone is feeling the same way or knows how to stop feeling this way! -
Liquid diet pre op
jennaggie replied to Brenda90210's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From everything I've read you should be ok. But my dr also told me to tell them if I slip up. She said they won't be mad at me but may push the surgery back a day. So it depends on the dr I guess. I have a question too while we are on the subject. If my dr says I can eat egg whites how do y'all think a couple deviled eggs would go? I'm in the same boat as you. I want to bite something! Lol sorry for the long comment. Hope it helps a little. My surgery is Tuesday. ???? -

I'm 2/9 too. Super nervous and this pre op liquid diet is driving me crazy! -
If you're referring to the pre surgery liquid diet then maybe. My dr said I could have broth (I drink the juice from chicken noodle soup) or cream of soups as long as if there are any chunks I blend them up. So far I've blended some chicken noodle and it wasn't bad. I want to try some kind of potato soup. But my dr gave me a grocery list of what I could have. I don't know if every dr differs that much.

My first day liquid diet and I got tomato basil soup...it has little chunks of tomato in it. Did I just destroy my hopes of surgery?! I'm being dramatic. But did I hurt anything?

Liquid diet question
jennaggie replied to jennaggie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea it is. They said I could have cream soups as long as it had been run through a blender. I'm on the road for work and don't have a blender on me. -
My sleeve surgeon decided I was ok because I can relate my heartburn to certain foods I eat. So I'm working on controlling mine with diet. Maybe you could check into that.

I live near lake Charles and am using Dr. Chung here. I researched him and heard great things. I didn't find anyone else in LA that I thought was as good. But didn't have to do to much research once I met him and his staff. Great team. I'm self pay and he's 14,000. There was a dr in New Iberia who was like 10,000 but it's because you have to stay in a hotel for 3 days instead of a hospital. I just didn't feel right about that. Good luck! Hope you find someone you like!

How to prepare your body for surgery!
jennaggie posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Besides being morbidly obese I've been healthy my whole life. Strep throat is the worst illness I've had. I've also never had surgery or been knocked out. I don't even like thinking about getting blood drawn. I'm a giant baby. With that being said. I'm terrified of being knocked out. It scares me more than the pain. But the pain scares me too. Geez I'm terrible. Any advice at all about how to physically prepare my body for surgery? -
If anyone had an exact diet plan they followed for the liquid diet I would appreciate it. Mine is for one week. Including amounts and calories. I know they will give me more info at my surgery group meeting but I will be super busy with work and want to start prepping ASAP. Surgery of Feb 9th!
-
My surgery is scheduled for February 9th. I have heartburn currently but I know it's from a poor diet. When I've ate well before it has gone away. But things like coffee, juice, cucumbers, Italian food, they all trigger it. My surgeon doesn't see the need to scope me because I don't have signs of a hernia but his nurse was insistent upon it (of course it would be more money to them since I'm paying out of pocket). My question is, if you had heartburn before and had the sleeve did it get worse? Did eating better make it better? Anyone have this corrected during surgery? What's up?

Thanks for the replies! I think I'll mention it to my general dr since she's on my insurance and go from there. Good ideas! I can't wait to have the surgery over with. So nervous!

total knee replacement 4 1/2 months after sleeve

Also just be mindful of your calorie intake. It will take some work but be mindful of your nutrition above all else since you can't be physically active. -

How to tell family/friends?
jennaggie replied to Ginger1217's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going through the debate in my head too. I'm so excited to be scheduled for surgery in February and I'm damn proud I've lost almost 50 lbs on my own. Sometimes I want to talk to everyone about it and sometimes I don't want to even talk to my husband about it. I lost about 100 lbs on my own a few years back and some people, that I thought were friends, hated that I would mention my diet or work out plan or that my clothes were loose. I don't know if it was jealousy or I annoyed them or they really didn't care. So this time around I will be very careful who I give a lot of info to but I think I'll also answer truthfully when someone asks. Maybe they need it and they need to hear from someones first account. That's how I started my journey. Someone was honest with me. Do what feels right to you. If it's no ones business than leave it at that. It's your health and your kid you're working on. Best of luck to you! -
I finally lost the weight my surgeon required before he would book my surgery! Even beat it by 4 lbs. February 9th will be here before I know it. I wanted to be healthier before I turned 30 and since I turn 30 in May this is a great start I think. ALL advice is welcome for sure. Here are some facts about me and this journey: I'm 29 years old, I started this process at 444 lbs, I'm currently 395, I first met my surgeon in May 2015, I am married with 2 teenage step kids and my hubby and I want more as soon as I'm at a heathy weight for both me and a baby. So excited!

Yep the sleeve I'll check it out. Thank you!

I lost 44lbs according to their scale and 49 according to mine. Either way I'm scheduled for surgery in February! Thanks for the tips! I ended up eating early breakfast and had water until noon then Nothing until my appointment at 2:30. Worked for me!

Monday is my final weigh in with my surgeon. I had to lose 40 lbs before he would schedule it. I went to weigh in once in the meantime. I weighed at home and drove the hr to his office to weigh. His scale was 5 lbs higher . I am pretty sure I've lost the weight. According to my scales, as of today I've lost 44. Any tips or tricks on what to do Monday to keep my weight as low as possible when I go to him at 2:30? Do I eat? Not eat all day? Drink a lot of water? Avoid drinks? Wear jeans? Advice is welcome!
-
Thanks for the tips! I never thought about asking to take my clothes off. I'm pretty sure 90% of us here weigh that way lol. I will for sure not eat any solids tomorrow. I had my last meal at 2 today. I might tank up on water tonight and stray from drinking much of anything tomorrow. I'm nervous! Thanks for the advice again! I'll come back with an update.

What NSV are you looking forward to Postop?
jennaggie replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not having to worry how close the car next to me has parked. I've crawled through the passenger side a couple of times because of this! Of coarse some people are just jerk parkers lol. -
You'll be fine. I haven't had it yet but I've heard of a lot of people throwing up. Even right after the surgery. I bet your stomach is stronger than you think . I wish I would've done it at 21! I'm 29 and when I was your age I thought I could conquer the world! Have that attitude and keep going. When your my age you'll look back and thank goodness you did it when you did.
