  1. I like premier Protein shakes a lot. Muscle milk isn't bad too. Click protein is probably my favorite but it's lower on protein and higher in carbs and sugar. It's good mixed with half a premier Protein shake though. My advice is buy the plainer options and you can play around with sugar free syrups and creamers. That's what I like to do any way. Also 20 pounds is great!! Congrats!!!

    Has anyone tried Atkins shakes?

I like the caramel latte atkins shakes. Their bars are pretty good too in my opinion.
  3. I had Aetna and gained some weight during my pre-op and was still approved.
  4. Yay! You're doing awesome!

I have GOT to get back on track

You've got this! It's never too late to change! I've had days where I've made horrible food choices and punished myself for it. You just have to get back to eating right and following your plan! It's okay to treat yourself every now and then, just don't do it too often. Remember all of the reasons you started this journey! You can do this, I promise!
  6. I've been doing protein bars since I was maybe one and a half months out? I like the quest and atkins bars.

Surgery in 2 days. Any advise?

All I really needed was comfy clothes to wear home and a pillow for the drive home. I wore the gown and non-skid socks in the hospital. Make sure if you're driving far you bring your pain and nausea medications with you in case you need them on the ride home! Good luck to you both! You'll will do great!!

    A letter to yourself...

I absolutely love this idea and wish I would've done this at my highest weight. I'm no where near close to goal though so I think I'm going to give it a shot.

    Home

The pain sucks in the beginning but I promise it will get better! You've got this! Keep sipping that water!
  13. Hey y'all, I'm incredibly excited and I have to share this with someone who will understand! I was sleeved on May 18th and since then I've lost around 16 pounds. The scale hasn't moved in almost a week though and I've been wanted to add in exercise so I thought now would be a great time to do so. I've had an elliptical for a couple of years and I finally got back on it a few days ago. Tonight when I was on it it hit me - I wasn't out of breath! Before my surgery when I would get on it (a year or two ago) I was out of breath within five minutes and the rest of my workout was a huge struggle. Tonight when I was almost finished I realized my chest wasn't on fire! I think I'm more excited about this than the weight I've lost!! Anyways just wanted to share with my fellow sleevers! God bless!

What to expect two weeks post op?

Everyone is different. I'm 2 weeks out today and I'm on soft/solids. I had very little pain the first few days and my energy was extremely low the first week but other than that I've been out of the house doing things and have felt fine. My doctor said I had a pretty quick recovery though compared to a lot of people. Good luck to you and I pray your recovery is also quick and easy!

    Advice

I wish I would've known how bad the cravings were going to be the first couple of days. Despite the fact that I wasn't really hungry I had INTENSE cravings for all of the junk I was eating pre-op as well as diet coke (I had a major addiction to diet coke).
  16. Hey y'all! So I was sleeved on Wednesday and I have a quick question: Is it normal to be able to drink around 8 oz of a Protein shake in 30 minutes? I'm still on mostly liquids however I'm starting pureed soon. I'm just worried this is too much since I'm only 3 days post-op. Sorry if this is a stupid question or has already been posted. Thanks and God bless!

    3 days post-op, quick question

No, I haven't had any pain since I first came out of surgery. My incisions are somewhat uncomfortable but that's about it. Although now that I'm sitting here it's more like an hour, not 30 min to drink it. I guess it just feels faster.
  18. I told my parents and sisters as soon as I found out my insurance would cover it provided I did the 6 month supervised diet. They were the only ones I told and they've been my biggest support system. Other than them I know my mother has told most of her family but that doesn't really bother me because a lot of my aunts have also had weight loss surgery. I recently also starting seeing someone and I told him as well, he's happy for me and is considering the surgery himself. I'm a student and on summer break and don't have a job though so that makes it easier. When I go back to school in the fall I don't really plan on telling people unless they ask, I'm certainly not embarrassed by it I just don't think it's something I'm gonna walk around telling everyone under the sun about.
  19. Hey y'all! So after many issues with my paperwork and insurance my surgeon's office finally got the approval letter this morning and was able to order my pre-op labs this afternoon and finally schedule my surgery. They told me a month ago it would be on May 18th and I wasn't really nervous even throughout the weekend. Now that everything is finalized and it's definitely happening Wednesday I'm starting to get incredibly nervous! Did anyone else feel this way once everything was finalized? Also any advice is appreciated! -God bless!

    May 18th- Binging and Guilt!

Hey! I'm having my surgery May 18th too (pending insurance approval - say a prayer)!! Also I'm 21, we should be friends!!
  21. Hey y'all! This is my first post on this forum and I have a question for those with Aetna insurance: how long did the approval process take? I'm a little ahead of the game since I still have on more weigh-in in April but I'm excited and I'm trying to plan my summer classes around this surgery. I've been seeing my weight loss surgeon since November and have had 5 weigh-ins. I have a BMI of around 41 I think and I've gained 15 lbs since I started this process however I've lost 7 of those so far. I'm just wondering what I can expect in terms of insurance. Thanks y'all!
