  1. I have the same worries, although I do have a bit more than you to lose. Heaviest weight was 243lbs with a surgery weight of 235lbs. I am aiming for 154lbs. Surgery was at the end of Nov 2015 and so far have lost 25lbs since surgery but for the past few weeks have stalled ???? Seeing the dietician today so hopefully will get some advice. I can literally eat whatever I want and do not feel too much restriction so I am constantly watching portions. I didn't have this surgery and think it would be an easy ride (previously had a gastric band and had lost over 100lbs until the band failed - twice) but this is a lot harder than I thought ????
  2. Just wanted to say that your story is extremely similar to mine, including the difficult surgery due to scar tissue. Hope you are on the road to recovery. Watch yourself if you indeed have to go into work. I am now 5 weeks post op and 20lbs down from surgery weight ????

    Conversion surgery next week

Hey, I live in Edinburgh so had the op at the spire Murrayfield in Edinburgh. Wishing everyone yet to have the surgery all the luck in the world. As far as my progress is going I am healing well from surgery and currently 16lbs down ???? I have stuck at roughly the same weight for past 4/5days but guess I cant be losing 1/2lb a day everyday ☺️ Working out what I can eat can be difficult as things I can manage one day make me ill the next. Still a happy bunny though ???? xx
  4. I am 10 days post op and have had a few cups. No issues

    Conversion surgery next week

Hi, Im doing really well thanks for asking ???? I have a post op appointment today so will know more then but generally well. I am only now taking paracetamol when required and I am moving normally. I have been eating soft foods (mash potato, soft cheese, soup) for a few days now and all going well. Also now 9lb down ???? How ru? xx

    Surgery done and dusted ????

Only 4 days apart ???? I am doing really well at the moment. I contacted my consultant as I was struggling to eat yogurt and jelly as was finding it so sweet it was making me feel sick. I was told to try cut up eggs and also very soft mash potato. So for a few days I have been eating soup, eggs, soft low fat cheese and potato. Very small portions though. I think this was really early to have introduced these foods but so far I have had no reactions to it. I have also lost 8lbs since last Thurs ???? My pain is a lot easier and mobility nearly back to normal although I am not lifting or carrying my baby boy as yet. How do you feel now? Are you still wondering what you have done or are things easing for you now? ???? xx

    Surgery done and dusted ????

Good luck tomorrow. It will be over before you know it and you will be well on your way to a new improved life. I was just in pyjamas for the two days I was in as I found my room really warm. I would take slippers and dressing gown to wear when you go for little walks which is the best thing to move the gas they pump into you. Highly recommend doing this as soon as you feel like you can ???? xx

    Surgery done and dusted ????

Congrats to everyone who have had their surgery and good luck to those you are having theirs soon. My port area is definitely worse than the other scars but I am now 4 days post surgery and moving normally. The first few days were not nice (but then of course they are not going to be) but since then have done nothing but improve quickly ☺️ It is what I can eat that is scaring me. I just have no interest in eating (mad I know!). Katie - what have you been eating? I weighed 258lbs at my heaviest and 235lbs on day of surgery. I am 5ft 8 so looking to get down to about 154lbs/140lbs. I have had 2 band ops and was needing a third. Had no confidence in the band anymore and had caused a lot of damaged to my stomach. Bypass is drastic but from what I have heard and read it is well worth it xx
  9. I am so happy to say my surgery is all done. It took longer than expected as my band was quite complicated to remove but that is now out and bypass performed. I am leaving hospital this morning (I have been in since early Thurs) and home to rest on the sofa. I am feeling quite sore but mostly where the port had to be dug out ???? I am on my feet and walking though xx
  10. Hey everyone. Band to bypass this week (Nov 26th). I just want this band out now! 2 surgeries and it is still not working - leaking, slipped and causing all sorts of problems to my insides. Onwards and upwards come Thurs though. I have heard and been warned that pain at the port area is the worse as they have to kind of dig it out - yuck!!! xx

    Conversion surgery next week

All my pre op tests were done today so all ready for thurs. I am no longer as worried about the surgery and just really looking forward to a nee chapter in life. Good luck to every one I'm not too sure about when you can return to work as I am currently on maternity leave so was not one of the questions I asked but from research I saw it was approx 2 weeks xx

    Conversion surgery next week

Wow well done you, thats great progress!! I really hope my op goes the same way. I am due to spend 2 nights (I think that is standard for this hospital). I have child care organised for about a week after the op (my son is only 5 months) but can sort out more if need be. Would be lovely if I can enjoy a mini Christmas dinner with my family as opposed to a shake lol. Did you find this recovery and introducing food easier this time round? xx
  13. Hi All, I am having conversion surgery (band to bypass) next week in the UK and I am so nervous. Can anyone tell me how the recovery differed between the two surgeries? Also what was the pain like? I am a new Mum and think this is making me panic as I was not like this with my 2 previous band surgeries. Thanks xx

    Nervous newbie

Thank you so much for your post xx
  15. Hi everyone, I am new to this forum but it seems like a huge source of support. I am due to convert my gastric band to a bypass next week and am so nervous about the whole thing (I am putting this down to being a new Mum as was never nervous before my previous ops). I had my band fitted in 2007 and went from 258lbs to 156lbs. Was so excited. I maintained this for 6 yrs and then I started to gain weight at a very fast pace. My band then burst resulting in emergency surgery last June. By Aug it was clear the op had placed the band back together but it was now leaking. Was scheduled for a 3rd op but discovered I was pregnant - yeeeh!! After having my son in June this year I have now discovered that my band is not only leaking but has slipped and I also have a dilated oesophagus. I am therefore having conversion surgery next week to a bypass. I cant wait for the surgical part to be over and just concentrate on loosing this weight and becoming healthy again, for myself and now for my son. What is the recovery like? I recovered very quickly with other two surgeries but know this is a bit mire complexed xx
