    I can be prejudiced too

yes but some people have mental illness or other reasons for not being able to take good care of themselves- I have seen people so obese that they physically cannot clean up after themselves after the toilet (and yes the smell makes everyone gag). you never know what someone's situation/mental status is. probably it is the gross slobs that need empathy more than anyone else. on a side note- these people are completely immobile, there is someone feeding them

Almost 4 years and 4 lbs

I am so glad you posted- I often wonder how people do with the band long term. I am terribly sorry about your slip- I hope you get back on track and we are pulling for you!!!

    Today is my birthday...

Happy Bday W! I too thought it must be a treadmill or exercise equipment! Men can be such dunderheads! At least a camera is better than some of the other tchotchkes one can get. Plus I just wanted an excuse to use the word tchotchke. *ducking* most men are clueless- either that or they have such genius with expectation managment and keeping the bar low that it boggles the mind. I personally refer to Valentine's Day as BLACK THURSDAY. So enjoy your birthday and everyone else- happy Black Thursday!!

    I can be prejudiced too

my next gentleman was even more morbidly obese- I had to run and find a chair that would fit him. He smelled great and was very friendly- he was lovely and I had no negative feelings. I think that first man was just so difficult to talk to and smelled so bad that most people would have a negative reaction. Even still, he deserves the same respect as anyone else. I asked about weight loss surgery with male #2 and he told me that he had 75% of his stomach removed in 1980. After initial success, he has slowly been adding weight on over the years. Now he cannot walk without a walker, or sleep without a recliner.

    Band Slippage

JLYNN good luck to you, my fingers are crossed!!! Please let us know how things went! ps medial does mean towards the middle so the medial side of the stomach in a normal person would be more towards the left. Hope that helps :cursing:

    drinking through a straw

I keep forgetting I am not allowed to drink through a straw- I look down after drinking half my libation, there is the straw (which i then throw out!) I read not to use one because we tend to drink too fast that way and swallow air. Has anyone else heard anything regarding drinking through a straw??

    confused about soup

My understanding is that we are allowed to have soup- is this the one exception to eating liquids with food? Do you all just eat the goodies out of it? How the heck does this Soup thing work?? ps I am on mushy phase

    question about transition

I am not sure what the issue was that night- I chewed till the tuna was near liquid. Nonetheless, pain is all gone! Thank you so much for responding!

    question about transition

*i posted this in another place but copied it here* Hi All- I am three weeks post op and on my mushy phase. I didnt get enough Protein today plus I have not had a real BM since my procedure. This led to me eat tuna fish tonight (fish was on my list of approved mushy food) I believe I ate about 3 oz. I am in pain right now and terrified that I have stressed the sutures holding my band in place. Anyone else have any troubles transitioning to mushies?

    confused about soup

thanks everyone- unfortunately i dont feel that I can go to my doc for advice (story for another post) the packet I have says that during this phase i can have soup (not creamy) I have the canned high sodium variety on the counter (chicken and rice since I have read many have trouble with noodles) mostly I have just been having things like eggs and tuna (allowed in my packet) and pudding or yogurt. the soup was looking delicioso tonight as my heat is not working! And no worries girls, I know better than to eat solids! (I went out to dinner tonight with people from work and ordered hummus and ate it with a spoon- they were all quite grossed out) No one from work knows I am banded so I guess they just think I am weird!

    drinking through a straw

I have been so meticulous with all the other rules, this one just doesnt seem to process in my brain- I have only done it twice- but each time i get so irritated with myself because I automatically put the straw there without thinking. I really do have to pay more attention!
  13. YAY I can finally cross my legs!! This has always been a goal for me! Granted I have to shift my tush so that I am on a slant, but going in the right direction! I cant wait for the day when I can sit in a seat and cross my legs all comfy and ladylike! Any non-band goals for you all to look forward to???

crossing my legs at long last!!

Thanks for all your comments everyone!! :smile2:
  15. Has anyone worn one of these after surgery or heard anything about it. I looked through the posts and saw that people used them after PS but not too much on after the band. Well I have one and I put it on (almost 4 weeks post op) and it seems to be helping my port pain and residual soreness. Do you think there would be any reason *NOT* to wear it??

    Painful Port

any updates schnuggle?? how are you doing?
  17. the band is probably higher than you think... do you feel a bump there? then it just might be your port- a lot of people have them placed in the middle between their breasts. where is your port scar? is it midline?

    Marijuana Use After Surgery

i personally think pot is a lot less dangerous than alcohol. i know that the reason docs dont want people smoking cigs before AND after surg is that A) it increases the chance of complications under general anesthesia and it inhibits wound healing. Katiebug I wish I were 18 again with that fabulous elastin rich skin, good luck to you!!!

    New Member from KC Area

Dr. Malley has recently hired a (nurse or PA- I cant remember) whom he is training to do fills. Last time I went her insurance was not in place so she was shadowing him. I go for my first fill in a few weeks, I will keep you all updated if you want.

    Siily Question!(Fiber)

i love the benefiber chewables, miralax works well as a laxative/stool softener. I have had a lot of trouble since banding. see what your doc says about using fiber- I have heard different things

    so jealous at lunch today

i had my first meal with friends today- they all heaped their plates with yummy smelling food and I had my spoonful of chicken salad, spoonful of cottage cheese, and half an egg. I am still on mushy phase- everyone commented on my small lunch, and I know that nothing on their plates could possibly taste as good as putting on size 4 jeans, but still- I had pangs of jealousy!
