I ate pizza today!!! PIZZA- and then to make matters worse, I had a taco bell crunchwrap chicken supreme for dinner! I am two months post op and had 1 fill so far. I feel zero restriction and can eat any amount of anything! I have been so good up until this point. Now I am all worried I stretched out my pouch! I have mild discomfort bordering on pain but havent PBd or vomitted. I am so disgusted and upset with myself for making such bad food choices and not being able to stop. Tomorrow is a new day- I will go on liquids for a little bit just in case I stretched anything out. I hope I didnt do any long term damage. Any words of reassurance or perhaps stories of where you have strayed and got back on track would be very much appreciated!

thank you so much for your posts- I do feel better!! I have another fill scheduled in 2 weeks... hopefully will have some restriction then... I need to stop reading this board for a little bit- I have terms like "pouch packing" "esophageal dilation" "pouch dilatation" and "slippage" all swirling around inside my head... I wonder how irritating neurotic newbies are to more seasoned bandsters- thank you again for your stories!! -
i wonder that too- so far after one fill i havent felt like stopping.... hopefully things will change with better restriction

why did you do your evaluation with a psychologist anyway? that is very unusual. usually they will want you to see an MD.

definitely keep logging your blood sugars that way when u do see a doctor they can tailor your therapy. (if needed- sounds like your glucose is just about right) you can take it before breakfast and dinner one day, alternating with before lunch and bedtime the next- that way there are 4 points to reference. next time you feel dizzy definitely take your blood sugar before taking a glucose pill to make sure that it actually is hypoglycemia making you feel that way- good luck!

sounds delish- will try it! -
I went to a mongolian BBQ the other day- buffet only- I asked if I could order off of the children's menu, and my waitress refused. I dont have a courtesy card (my doc's office didnt give me one) but i did offer to show her my scars or feel my port (she oddly refused this as well). I think I am just going to make my own card to have in the future. I am not going back there again!

They told me that if I had a doctor's card they would have let me but b/c I did not they wouldnt accomodate me.

I love scuba diving, and I was wondering what info you have all gotten. I realize that ideally the band has only Fluid in it, I am worring that air trapped in the pouch and stomach during an uncontrolled ascent might cause a slip. I called Inamed and they said no research had been done on it and therefore could not give me an answer. My Doc offered an unfil before going (for the standard fee of course!) From what I have read on here many have gone without any problems! I was wondering if i should limit my dives to places with a cable or rope so i can better control how fast I surface. Any thoughts??

what a great post- thank you!

I fly (only single engine cessna)- the pressure difference at altitude is not as marked as under water. I have a dive computer, there have def been times when I ascended too fast- even if it was for just 10 feet.

What is your Fill Level in a 10 cc AP Band?
restrict2008 replied to Motocrossgirly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i cant believe a doc would put 7cc in a band during the operation- that boggles my mind! at least you have a head start- I got my first fill today- 3.5cc. My doc said I could eat mushies. I think I am feeling a little restriction :smile2: -
I am going for my first fill today. My Dr's office didnt say anything about my diet for today (I have already eaten breakfast) Generally do you do liquids on the day of your fills, or is it just afterwards? Thanks!

some people have serious anger managment issues and are a menace to society. when has this behavior become acceptable? i am disgusted

transesophageal echo (TEE) is to look at the heart- one can get more detailed information by going down the esophagus (closer to the heart) than through the chest wall- (transthoracic echo) (TTE) these are usually used to evaluate how well your heart is pumping (ejection fraction) as well as to look at your valves and heart motion
-
there are multiple esophageal studies- one of them is an EGD or esophagogastruduodenoscopy where they take a camera (looks like a tube the diameter of a pencil) and look into your esophagus down to the pyloric sphincter. It is uncomfortable but not really painful. Other tests to evaluate the esophagus would be motility studies and a barium swallow, where you swallow contrast and is not painful at all. Good luck and keep us updated!

Do you think there is discrimination against obese people?
restrict2008 replied to milton5a's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
no fat is ridiculous, what about omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids? Some oils are necessary and healthy. Not just your skin but the layer surrounding your neurons needs fat. Her skin is a reflection of her general health. Your coworker is an idiot. -

Lisa that is horrible and sad- When I have lost weight in the past I know I have carried bitterness for being treated badly. (fat girl in thin body) I hope this doesnt happen to you.. I think I will forever carry some resentment by how cruel and superficial people can be. *hugs* -
psych evaluation 3 hours???
restrict2008 replied to angie's hope's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the MMPI is such an old antiquated test- it is nearly useless, personally I see it having very little utility in pre-op evaluation. There is a newer MMPI-2 released in 2007, but I am not even sure about the validity of that one. This is my personal opinion, but I think the psych eval should be geared towards judging a patient's compliance with post op intructions, their support network, and their understanding of complications, risks, and long-term lifestyle changes. I was self pay and still had to undergo one. Mine took about 30 mins. sounds like I was very lucky. -
mmm sounds good- what a shame

What is your Fill Level in a 10 cc AP Band?
restrict2008 replied to Motocrossgirly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
if you read the directions put out by allergan they recommend putting 3-4cc in the first fill. So i would think that most people will need more than 4 cc.
