Ok this probably sounds silly but......I RAN!!!! For the last week or so when Im on the treadmill my feet have been itching to go a bit faster but I have been scared to try in case I cant do it. Well today I got on and thought to hell with it and started doing 1 minute intervals of running and walking for 30 minutes. I was totally buggered when I got off but what a feeling. This time last year I had little fantasies about how I might feel when Im banded but not one of them comes close to how it really feels. I love my band:lol::redface:

Pre band i hated to cook, KFC was my favourite food and I spent zero time in the kitchen. Now I cant stand fast food (KFC is near my gym and the smell coming thru the door in the afternoon makes me want to puke). Suddenly I have discovered that yummy food does not really mean greasy junk, I spend hours looking thru cookbooks for delicious healthy meals. Last night I had lemon chicken and vegie rice and like Jachut said I have enough left over for tonight too. Im no angel i still love chocolate and icecream I am just getting better at balancing the good with the bad.

Perth newbie waiting to be banded by Dr Stephen Watson
nat36 replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I live in Geraldton and was worried about having to constantly travel backwards and forwards for appointments, I emailed the contact email on the website expecting nothing or a receptionist to reply and within a day dr watson had replied with a consultation and date for surgerey all in the same trip it was great. I went straight home the day after surgery and with hindsight it was probably not the smartest move but it was the day before good friday and I wanted to get home to my kids. It only took me a couple of days and I was on track again. Dr Watson sends you home with plenty of drugs to get you through the first week, my advice is dont be scared to take them whenever you need them. I am trying to decide if I need to go back next week for another fill or not, at this stage Im thinking I dont need it yet I might put it off for another month. -
The story didnt bother me as much as the mailbag letter they read out last night, cant remember the exact words but it was something like fat slobs should just exercise and stop eating rubbish. They didnt even read another one that completely opposed that view.:biggrin:

Yes you are weird!!!! Enjoy it put yourself first for a change, your husband must think you are worth it so have fun.

Perth newbie waiting to be banded by Dr Stephen Watson

Hi Lellow, You are in good hands with Dr Watson I was banded by him in March this year and it has been the best thing I have ever done. Good luck and welcome. -
You are right we can do this it takes a lot of determination and willpower but the rewards are great and thats what i keep telling myself when I feel like snacking. I try to think of being able to walk into a clothing store that does not sell plus size clothes and not feeling like a fish out of water and not feeling ashamed when Im out with my husband and we meet new people. We have been given a great tool now we just have to make it work. H

I didnt have a period for many years and my Dr told me I was one of the lucky ones that doesnt bleed on implenon, but as soon as I started to lose weight my periods returned so I think it had more to do with my weight than anything else. Now I cant seem to stop them. Has anyone heard of the contraception Mirena? my GP has suggested it instead of implenon to steady my period.

Jachut I agree. I sat in the surgeons office listening to 2 women talk about how they were going in there to give that Dr what for as they were both banded in August last year and had only lost 4kg and 5kg. My curiosity got the better of me and I politely enquired what exercise they were doing "Oh none we shouldnt have to exercise thats what the band is for" and how about diet? "Again the lapband should make us not hungry and want to eat crap but it doesnt" WTF!!! Im sorry ladies were you thinking that you had a MAGIC band attached to your stomach that allowed you to sit back and watch the weight fall off while you still ate everything in sight. I have made a committment to change and sometimes I still come home after a bad day at work and eat crap but the next day Im off and running again. I dont ever want to go back to being in the hundreds of kilos mark so I guess I have to make it not happen.

I am still thinking like the old me. Today I went shopping for work pants and my automatic thought was grab the biggest pair on the rack. Lucky I tried them on and found they were miles too big I ended up with a size 16 but it still doesnt register in my brain that there are clothes that are too big for me now.
-
I have not tried bread yet but alot of the old food that i used to love I just hate now, when you have to chew chew chew it totally changes the texture and taste I dont know why. I might try some egg on toast on the weekend. I have not been much good with fruit either banana got stuck, apple got stuck I have had strawberries and grapefruit no worries. Need to get more fibre and my iron levels have taken a nose dive according to my GP but those I can live with when the insulin levels and hormones have normalised.

I have given up on breakfast and wait until morning tea at 10.45 and have a cheese stick that keeps me going until lunch. I cannot no matter what I have tried keep anything down before then so I dont stress about it anymore.

You can buy reuseable pads? I had no idea. Where do you buy them and what is a mooncup and keeper. I am probably way behind on the latest period fashion i have only just started my period again after 14 years LOL.

This is the first photo of myself that I have thought "oh I guess I have lost weight" My son took it last night, the other is at our christmas party, oh dear!!!!
-
I was told no water 30 minutes before and 1 hour after eating.
-
WOOHOO yay for you. What a good feeling to have more choices than plus size nanna clothes. I tried on all my clothes and loved the feeling of them being miles too big and putting them in the salvo bag. Have not bought much yet just one pair of pants but i definitely have to my work pants are hanging off me

I had my second fil last week and I am eating fine again. My problem is at night I wake up with revolting bile in my mouth and as soon as I lay down i start to gurgle. i have read that this has happened to people that are too tight but I dont have a problem eating a good amount its just the awful reflux. Does anyone have any advice? Is it Normal? Anything i can take?

Very, very tight after first fill
nat36 replied to Sidd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had 2 fills and the first one was quite tough for the first few days but then it settles. I had lots of reflux and hiccups and the first night felt like I coulnt get anything down. The first 48 hours were the hardest for me but I think if it goes any longer than that or the pain is unbearable then you should seek advice -
Glad to hear it all went well for you finally. I had my 2nd fill yesterday so Im taking it easy on mushies for a while. Dont have to go back for 2 months now so I hope its all good from here.
