    No Regrets

After being diagnosed with diabetes last February 2015, my decision was made to have gastric bypass surgery, something that scared me terribly as I transcribe daily and hear of different problems that others have had after the surgery. Weighing diabetes verses possible problems, i.e. anemia for one, I chose the possible problems. I started the process of getting ready in April 2015, lost 36 pounds before my surgery of November 5, 2015. Since my surgery 10 weeks ago tomorrow, I have lost 48 pounds for a total of wait for it.......84 POUNDS!!!! I am tickled pink, purple ,and all other beautiful colors. I have been lucky in that I have not had many problems at all. The worst is when I can eat a certain food one time and maybe 2 days later, it makes me sick. It is just hit and miss, but I keep trying it all. Yes, I would do it again. My goal is to be able to get my wedding dress on again after 43 years ago this May. I wish everyone the best on their journey.
  3. Purchased some items from the store and looking forward getting them next week.
  4. Well, geez.....should have been Happy Surgiversary. A little slow on this very cold Saturday. :-)
  5. Belated happy birthday to you!! I'll be 62 in March and just had my surgery this past November. I feel so much better and feeling 61 years young what I've lost so far....just think when I hit 62!! Again, belated Happy Birthday!!!

    Question about recovery/care at home

I would encourage him to go. If you have help from your parents, then you should do fine. As suggested before, if one of your parents could pick you up, then you would be all set. I would ask them to bring a small pillow so you can hold it on your tummy to help with the bumps since you have an hour trip home.
  8. This is definitely a great site. Someone is always there to help with questions or encouragement.

    Need a Healthy Snack

I eat Attain Nutrition Bars by Melaleuca. They are really good and there are a couple of different varieties. I am going more for the Protein factor but they are crunchy and satisfying.
  10. Well, loser in the Powerball, not even 1 number. Congrats to the 3 who won in 3 different states. I am a winner, though, with every pound I have lost and losing. That means a lot more to me than Powerball, even though it would have been nice. :-)

    When swallowing tablets of medicine?

I am 10 weeks out today and I can take small to medium pills but would rather just use calcium citrate chews and all my Vitamins are chewable. I could probably swallow the bigger pills, but just have a preference not to. :-)

    Can't tolerate protein drinks

The program that I am in also recommends Premier Protein. I find that it tastes better at room temp instead of cold, but that is a personal preference.

    Melting

Just read your story. That is so cute!!!
  16. Oh, I hope I win as well, but I am already a winner, too, in that I have done so well with my bariatric surgery....so happy! We are all winners. :-)
  17. What a journey you have had. I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Taking care of an ill parent is very difficult as I took care of my mother after she was diagnosed with lung cancer a few years ago. Unfortunately, she passed from the cancer. So I totally understand what you are going through. You can still get back on track with everything. I have confidence that you will. For all that you have went through with your surgery and afterwards, please don't give up. Take your Vitamins (mine are all chewable and so much easier to deal with), measure your meals and Protein, protein, protein!!!! Again, hang in there and remember for yourself why you went through the surgery to begin with....for you!! I am sure your dad would want you to NOT give up on yourself. Katherine

    Can't tolerate protein drinks

I use the Premier Protein and I also use the unjury chocolate. I change things up with the Unjury by using PB2 Powder with it. There are actually recipes at the Unjury site for their products.
