    Realize band...first fill...how much...

I was banded March 28 and had my first fill on April 28. The nurse practitioner, who does all of the fills for the practice, gave me 3 cc without fluro. I have no restriction and can eat anything, unfortunately. My second fill was scheduled for June 2 but I called and moved it up to May 19th. Can't wait although my first fill was very uncomfortable. I was the 4th Realize Band the doctor had placed. My nurse said they are trickier to fill because they are a lower profile than Lap Bands and are harder to find. She had to dig around a little bit...OUCH !!!

    Belly Button Qs

I agree...go to the doc and get it documented for the future. I am not an MD but you probably have a fungal infection because the inside of your belly button stays damp and never dries out. A simple cream applied for a few months should clear it up.
  3. I was banded 3/28. My doctor sent me home on pureed for 4 weeks. I had diarrhea until today, I think when there are no solids going in it is not going to be likely to get it coming out! My doc didn't give me a calorie goal, just told me to eat when I am hungry, make healthy choices, and quit when full. I get about 800 - 1000 cals a day so far but am starting to get an appetite back.

    stomac flu while banded

My husband and one of my kids just got over the flu and I am scared that I will be next. I called my dr. and was told that if I started to feel sick to call to get a rx for anti-nausea meds. I don't know if it is just because I am 12 days post or if this means I need to do this from now on.

    3 days Post-op pain

These pains can come from a different source also, not only gas. Don't forget that the surgeon was pushing a lot of organs around when he or she was in there. A surgeon explained to me that the diaphram can become irritated and stay that way longer that the gas stays in your abdominal cavity. I am four days post op and I feel this when I take a REALLY deep breath in my chest and just behind my shoulder blade. Pain killers help as does walking around.

    I am sick of Liquids

I was banded on Friday 3/28. Before I left the hospital, I had to do a liquid food tray and keep it down. Then I had to do a pureed tray (pureed chicken with gravy and pureed peaches) and keep it down. My doctor requires pureed to the consistancy of apple sauce for the first 4 weeks post op. I believe that I must avoid chunks of food because, even if it stays down, the stomach has to do a lot of work (including squeezing) to break down the pieces and this can disrupt the stitches.
  7. Swiss chard is a veggie similar to spinach. I sauteed it with olive oil, onion, garlic, and then added a splash of apple cider vinegar. Didn't think I would be tempted but my family didn't finish it and I couldn't bring myself to throw away the last few bites. Thought I would be craving sweets but have been wanting things that are not sweet or salty. Guess that is because the shakes are so sweet and then the broth I am allowed is really salty.
  8. I am on day 9 of my pre-op diet, which is 5 slim fast shakes a day. The only solid that has passed these lips is SWISS CHARD!!! I have never had it before and thought I just wanted a little bite and ended up eating about a half cup. I guess it wasn't a terrible thing to cheat with but a pretty weird thing to have!!

    Please Somebody Help Me!!!!!!!

I am on day 2 of the pre op diet. My doc requieres 5 slim fast low carb shakes a day or 5 no sugar added carnation instant breakfast and I hate the taste of both. I have found that if I drink using a straw I can't taste it as much, which is a good thing!! I know once banded I am not going to be able to use a straw but at this point I figure it is ok to use one to get this stuff down!!

So hungry on my pre op diet

I'm on day two of pre op diet and similar to you I get 5 slim fast shakes a day plus 8 oz of fruit juice. I try to remember to ask myself if I am really hungry with hunger pangs etc. or is it just head hunger. Usually it is all in my head So far I am doing o.k.. I am keeping something to drink next to me at all times and that helps too.
  11. I have to follow a 2 week liquid diet before surgery, which is scheduled for March 28. I can chose to have 5 low carb slim fast per day or no sugar added carnation instant breakfasts. Plus I can have 8 ounces of fruit juice, 2 cups of broth, sf popsicles and no sugar, no calorie liquids. They say they diet does 3 things: shrink the liver, change our eating patterns, and jump start weight loss. I am having lap band surgery at the University of Wisconsin in Madison with Dr. Gould and Dr. Garren. After surgery is 1 day liquid then strictly pureed for 4 weeks.

    I am not alone...Am I?

HI! Although I have been lurking around the forum for about 5 months, this is my first post. My surgury date is Friday, March 28 with Dr. Gould at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. I am self-pay so my process has been somewhat quick. I went to the seminar the first week of December, have done the initail screenings, and have my nutrition and surgeon appointment during the end of February. I could have had surgery in mid-Feb but I have plans for vacation in Mexico the first week of March and decided it would be best to wait until after that. Good luck to everyone, March seems a long way away but I am sure it will fly by!
